    “Its a beautiful house in a beautiful location.”

    But the house needs some updates in my opinion, the carpet was threadbare at the top of the stairs and where the radiators had been removed, it looked a little scruffy. Comfy bed. Sofas comfy. Beautiful garden..there were small gaps where a small dog can get through, under the netting of the gate, we accounted for this beforehand as we understand its our responsibility. But just be aware if you have a curious dog it's possible to get out. I think the house has huge potential, and whilst ...

Built by the current owners, this fine detached Lakeland House is conveniently located a mile from the centre of the bustling village of Windermere in the heart of the Lake District. March House commands beautiful views across the fields to the central Lakeland Fells and enjoys beautiful evening sunsets. A brisk walk across the field and through Common Woods leads to the breath taking Orrest Head view point, the very first Lakeland walk of the acclaimed Lakeland Guide Book author Alfred Wainwright and the inspiration for his Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells. To make the most of the views, the living space and master bedroom are on the first floor. The large dual aspect lounge is the perfect place to relax, with family or friends, enjoying the views or the cosy log burning stove. The large kitchen is the perfect place to prepare a hearty breakfast with views over the garden, and from the dining table enjoy the sunset over the Lakeland Fells. The master bedroom offers far reaching panoramic views, an ensuite bathroom and a dressing room. For those wanting a quieter area to relax the reading room offers a peaceful haven to which to escape and enjoy a book and admire the scenery. The lovely gardens are a great place to relax and enjoy al-fresco living on a sunny day or for children to play, and you may even catch a glimpse of the local deer. On entering the house through the front door there is a large hallway with storage cupboards for walking boots and all your outdoor gear. The living space is on the first floor with a large dual aspect living room with a warming log fire. The family kitchen dining area is a great space to entertain. The reading room offers a retreat for a little peace and quiet place to enjoy a book or to relax and take in the view. The master bedroom, with continental style king size double bed is complimented with its own dressing room and ensuite bathroom. Returning downstairs there are two further bedrooms; a double room and a twin bedded room and a family bathroom with bath and separate shower. March House also offers a lockable garage, ideal for the secure storage of mountain bikes and canoes. Access is available from the hallway to the garage and there is also good sized utility room. To the rear of the property there is a lawned garden with woodland borders and patio area with garden furniture. To the front there is a well-tended garden of mature shrubs. Location This gorgeous Lake District cottage takes an enviable location; easily reached by car or by train and perfectly placed to explore Windermere village, Bowness and the delights of Lake Windermere without even having to use a car. Windermere village is a lovely place to make yourself at home, with lazy cafes for breakfast, plenty of shops for stocking up the kitchen, traditional Lake District pubs and several restaurants to choose from. A number of superb walks begin nearby, including the easy ascent of Orrest Head which promises spectacular views to Lake Windermere from the top. Walk or drive a couple of miles down the road and you'll reach bustling Bowness, a popular Lake District holiday destination offering sophisticated shopping, a range of restaurants and even a lively nightlife - from the cosy 'Hole int Wall' traditional pub to the trendy Bodegas & Sol tapas bar. From Bowness Bay, you can catch a Windermere Lake Cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside - what a way to explore without driving! For touring by car, you'll find Windermere a great place to start. A famously scenic stretch of the A591 leads to Ambleside, Rydal Water and historic Grasmere. Branch off into the Troutbeck Valley and take one of the most breathtaking scenic drives in the Lake District - over Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater with a stop at the acclaimed Queen's Head for lunch.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
