This superb self-catering property in Near Sawrey provides an excellent base for walking in the Lake District, exploring the magic of Beatrix Potter's former home and also visiting other popular Lake District holiday destinations. Hawkshead village is a couple of miles away, Ambleside only slightly further, and bustling Bowness is easily reached via the car-ferry crossing over Windermere (just 2 miles away from Near Sawrey).
Beatrix Potter lived in Near Sawrey at Hill Top, now owned by the National Trust and open for the public to explore. The adjacent Tower Bank Arms is a magical Lakeland country pub, with flagged stone floors and roaring open fire - quite a local! The pub even featured in Beatrix Potter's 'Tales of Jemima Puddleduck'.
In additional to the endless choice of walking routes, right from your door, Near Sawrey is close to Grizedale Forest. The forest is a must for family days out, with walking paths, cycle tracks and enchanting sculpture trails to explore. Don't forget that there are many family attractions in Bowness, as well as the Windermere Golf Club. Near Sawrey is close to Esthwaite Water, a tranquil little tarn, known as one of England's finest trout fishing lakes, also offering pike fishing, coarse fishing and roach fishing for all ages at Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery.
