Location
Ings is a small hamlet near Staveley in the Lake District. Ings and Staveley lie between Kendal and Windermere on the famously scenic A591, which leads right into the heart of the Lakes. Windermere village is only 2 miles away, and the A591 continues to Ambleside, historic Grasmere and renowned Lake District walking destinations such as the Langdale Valley.
Nearby Staveley is the gateway to the Kentmere Valley, with a thriving community of walkers and cyclists who return year after year to soak up the surroundings. Walking routes in the Kentmere Valley are well worth exploring, and well followed by a pint of Lakeland ale at the Hawkshead Brewery, or an indulgent pub meal at the Eagle & Child (both in Staveley village). Staveley is also home to the Staveley Mill Yard, an eclectic mix of local food producers, craft shops and galleries.
To stock up the kitchen, follow the A591 to Windermere and visit the high-end Booths supermarket, just next to Windermere train station. The supermarket stocks top quality Lakeland produce, and all your everyday essentials.
Bustling Bowness village and the activity-packed eastern shores of Lake Windermere are only a couple of miles further away, along with the Windermere Golf Club.

The cottage provided a wonderful base from which to explore the area. It was clean and clearly very well maintained with all facilities we required and more. We would use Lakelovers again and definitely stay in the Mill Cottage again. It really is a beautiful place. ThanksMr R M Davis
