The property

Looking out across the Naddle Valley, just two miles south of the market town of Keswick and with far reaching views of the Helvellyn mountain range, Nest Barn is a beautiful barn conversion just a ten minute walk from the ancient Castlerigg Stone Circle. This lovely barn conversion is all about the beautiful views, and the imposing double height picture window lets the light flood in and offers an ever changing vista throughout the day and across all the seasons and is a true delight to all those who love the majestic beauty of the Lakeland landscape. Nest Barn has a quirky layout with the kitchen/dinner on the ground floor with a mezzanine lounge above all designed in such a way that all the principle living areas benefit from the terrific views. With two bedrooms to choose from and accompanied by a bathroom and a shower room, this popular property is the ideal retreat for a couple, friends or family whatever the time of year. Accommodation in detail The front door opens directly to the open plan kitchen/diner. The family dining table is sset in the centre of the room and benefitting from beautiful views across the valley it is the ideal place to plan your day over breakfast or to relax over dinner in the evening. With oak floors and beamed ceiling the kitchen is well equipped with fitted units, electric hob and oven, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. On the first floor the mezzanine lounge, with glass balustrade, allows you to sit and enjoy the views from the comfortable leather sofa and armchairs and as the light fades and the view can no longer be seen you can relax in front of the TV. Nest Barn is presented with two bedrooms. On the first floor the master bedroom offer dual aspect views across the valley and the double bed is a welcome retreat after a day on the fell. Adjacent to this bedroom is the family bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and WC. On the ground floor the second bedroom can be made up as either a king size or twin bedded room (please specify when booking) and from here a door opens to the patio beyond. For guests using this bedroom there is an adjoining shower room with shower cubicle, basin and WC. Back outside there is a patio area with bistro garden furniture – just the spot for morning coffee and a glass of wine on a summers evening. There is private parking adjacent to the cottage for two cars. There are a number of foot paths that lead from the cottage including a lovely walk through the fields to the neighbouring 4,000 year old Castlerigg Stone Circle. The owners welcome up to two medium size dogs at Nest Barn but respectfully point out that due to the proximity of livestock all dogs must be kept under close control at all times Location Keswick is one of the Lake District's most popular destinations. This friendly town hosts the very popular twice weekly market that has recently won the coveted “Best Outdoor Market” in the Great British Market Awards. The town also offers a fantastic array of shops offering everything from craft bakeries and local produce, antiques, crafts and much, much more. If you are looking for somewhere to eat and drink, a week just won't be long enough to sample the great range of pubs, restaurants, bistros, cafes and wine bars! For a great evening out why not visit the 100 year old Alhambra offering first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings or enjoy an evening at “the most beautiful and friendly theatre in Britain”, the 400 seat Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater. Enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater, walk onto the fells; Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra are all nearby, head underground at Honister Slate Mines, enjoy mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest; explore the exquisite beauty of Borrowdale and the Scafell range.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater. With plenty of attractions for the kids, lovely parks and the nearby Lake District Wildlife Park this is a great Lakeland destination whatever the time of year.
