Number Twenty Seven is in easy walk of the Lake Windermere and is an ideal base from which to explore the whole of the Lake District. The cottage is situated just a short walk from Biskey Howe which offers stunning views across Lake Windermere and the surrounding area and is a perfect place to enjoy the sunsets across the lake in an evening.
The front door opens to the open plan living / dining room and kitchen. A comfortable corner sofa is arranged around the cosy log burning stove and the family dining table is ideal for family breakfasts or social dinners with friends. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need and includes an electric hob and oven, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer and washing machine. A back door opens onto the rear courtyard.
The bedrooms are arranged with two double bedrooms, complemented by a family bathroom with bath with shower over, twin basins and wc on the first floor and then a further bedroom on the lower ground floor offering a welcoming double size bed with an adjacent shower room with shower cubicle, basin and wc. The lower ground floor can be offered as a choice of either a double or 2 twin beds, (please specify when booking).Easy on street parking is available outside the property.
On the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Bowness is a sophisticated Lakeland village with a wealth to explore and enjoy. Stroll to the lake shore to hire a row boat or power boat, or take an elegant cruise on one of the Lake Windermere steamers. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside; a wonderful way to explore without even using your car.
There are numerous excellent restaurants in Bowness village, all within walking distance of Number Twenty Seven including champagne bars; contemporary wine bars; traditional pubs; and a range of great British and international cuisine. There is something for everyone, both in the village centre and the surrounding countryside, offering a full range of choice from traditional Lakeland pubs to fine dining.
Windermere Golf Club is just outside Bowness village, on the way to the Lyth Valley. This area is also renowned for gentle but very scenic walking, with a wealth of acclaimed Lake District country pubs to choose from at the end of the day.
Close to the village, you'll find Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House. This impressive property takes a stunning position overlooking Lake Windermere and has a range of interesting exhibitions. Join the A591 to Ambleside and Grasmere, and you can explore the homes of famous Lake District poet, William Wordsworth. Another great idea is to take the car-ferry crossing over Lake Windermere from Bowness, to visit the former home of Beatrix Potter in Near Sawrey, and the nearby picturesque village of Hawkshead.
