A unique opportunity to embrace rural Lakeland life, and a fabulous family experience. This character barn conversion lies within the grounds of a 54 acre traditional working farm, at the heart of the walkers’ paradise that is the Lyth Valley. The setting is sublime, but only a short drive from Bowness and Lake Windermere.
Several of the Lyth Valley's acclaimed country pubs are also within easy reach (one only a stroll away). With a spacious open plan living area, Orchard Barn is an excellent property for family holidays - you can even bring the dog. You'll love the upside-down layout, and while away many a sunny day on the pretty furnished terrace.

Location
Just to the east of Bowness village and the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, the picturesque Lyth Valley is an excellent location for a dog-friendly holiday in the Lake District, and also for walking in the Lake District. Although Lake District attractions are within easy reach, the location is a peaceful alternative to busier areas.
The landscapes are disturbed only by quiet country roads, Lakeland farms, traditional country cottages and grazing animals. The Lyth Valley is famous for it's damson harvest, which gives rise to stunning blossom each spring. Don't forget to experience the Lyth Valley 'Damson Day' celebration if you visit in April. There is a select handful of excellent country pubs in the Lyth Valley, renowned for their mouthwatering menus and real Lakeland ale. The Mason's Arms at Strawberry Bank is a must during your stay, perhaps followed by a walk up Gummers How to enjoy breathtaking views over Lake Windermere.
Popular walking routes such as Scout Scar, Whitbarrow Scar and Cartmel Fell begin close by. Bowness is also only a short drive away, where you'll find handy supermarkets (Bowness Tesco delivers), a wide range of restaurants and also all the boating activities available on Lake Windermere. You can also take the car-ferry over the lake to visit Hawkshead, or go walking in Beatrix Potter country!
