This traditional, end of terrace Lakeland cottage has been finished to a high standard by its owners and offers great quality in a stunning location.
The cottage is bright and airy with a lovely dual aspect lounge with cosy log burning stove. The contemporary fitted kitchen is complemented with slated flagged floor and family dining table. The bedrooms are well appointed and offer a welcoming retreat after a day on the fells.
Little Langdale offers beautiful mountain views in every direction and is a walkers paradise with walks of all levels direct from the door, The nearby Slater's Bridge is one of the most photographed views in the Lake District and is only a short walk from the cottage, as is the awesome Cathedral Cave. Relax for a local beer and home cooked food in the neighbouring, family run, Three Shires Inn, a popular Lakeland Hostelry and the focal point of the valley. Little Langdale offers a selection of routes for those with mountain bikes, and if you have your eye on the high fells, Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam and Swirl Howe can all be reached from the path that starts just across the lane.
Accommodation in detail
The front door opens to a lovely dual aspect lounge with comfy sofas arranged around a large coffee table, cosy log fire and Smart TV making this ideal place to relax at any time of day.
To the rear of the cottage there is a spacious kitchen dining room, with a contemporary, fitted kitchen, with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, electric hob and oven and feature slate floor. The family dining table is the ideal place to socialise in an evening with family and friends of a home cooked dinner of locally sourced Lakeland produce.
Upstairs, the cottage offers two bedrooms; the first, to the rear has a comfortable king size bed, views to the fells and an ensuite bathroom comprising of bath with shower over, basin and WC. The second bedroom, to the front of the cottage, is furnished with twin beds and also offers and ensuite shower room with showre cubicle, basin and WC.
To the rear of the property, there is an enclosed yard that the owners have made up as a small patio area with bistro table, the ideal spot for coffee in the morning, and across the yard there is a utility room with extra wc, washing machine and drier and sufficient space to securely store a couple of mountain bikes.
Oxen Fell Cottage is located on the lane running through Little Langdale and though it does not have its own parking space there is roadside parking a few yards up the lane with further roadside parking a little further up the lane beyond the popular local pub, the Three Shires Inn.
A holiday cottage in Little Langdale makes a magical retreat for walking in the Lake District, or simply soaking up the breath taking scenery. The road through the valley winds its way past Little Langdale Tarn beneath the north of the Coniston Fells before it splits to head west over the ancient Wrynose Pass or north passing the beautiful Blea Tarn en-route to Great Langdale.
The Three Shires Inn offers hearty homemade fare and local ales. Walks of all standards abound and the famous Cathedral Cavern and Slaters Bridge are both within easy reach
When you wish to head out and explore the rest of the Lakes, you can pass pretty little Elterwater on your way to Skelwith Bridge and the A593. From here, head south to Coniston or north to Ambleside - a sophisticated village on the northern shores of Lake Windermere.
