    “The location is beautiful.”

The property is full of character. In summer I can imagine this being even better and it was brilliant as it is. We were there in late December and being a historical property, we needed to layer up in the evenings, which did not diminish our enjoyment. We loved it here.

The property

With private pedestrian access to Lake Windermere (and public launching facilities available nearby) this fabulous Victorian lodge house provides a unique and very special retreat for family, friends or two couples. Gothic original features blend effortlessly with stylish contemporary comforts; luxury leather sofas set on stripped wooden floors, elegant dining arrangements with easy kitchen access (perfect for special occasions) and bedrooms full of character in the various corners of this unique historic building. Outside, you'll find a gorgeous garden, frequently visited by wildlife, and a patio area for midday sun-seeking and evening BBQs. == Accommodation in detail Private parking for 3 cars. Ornate gothic entrance porch into the elegant lounge with polished oak floor, leather sofas and impressive sandstone fireplace with 'living flame' gas fire for ease. Modern shaker style kitchen with direct access to the dining room, again with stripped wooden floor. Upstairs to the 3 bedrooms; 2 doubles and 1 twin. One of the bedrooms has en-suite facilities, and there is a separate house bathroom with shower over bath. Location This unique Windermere self-catering property offers easy access to the lake shore, and also to the popular villages of Windermere and Bowness. Windermere village centre is the closest place for stocking up the kitchen; there you'll find a large Booths supermarket, well stocked with the best local produce as well as everyday essentials. Windermere high street has a traditional butcher and several cafes and pubs, serving real Lakeland ale. Bowness village is a busier tourist destination, just a couple of miles away. The village revolves around the boating activity of Bowness Bay, where hire boats come and go, and Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside - explore without a car! Windermere Golf Club is located just outside Bowness village. You'll also enjoy easy access by car or bus to other popular Lake District holiday destinations, such as Hawkshead (via the car ferry across Lake Windermere from Bowness), the Troutbeck Valley, Ullswater, Ambleside and Grasmere.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
