The property

Lovingly converted from an old coach house, this fabulous 4 Star Gold Awarded studio apartment enjoys a beautiful view towards Lake Windermere. The Gallery is found in a peaceful, pretty location at the head of a private country lane - one of a few select dwellings. Within a couple of miles of Ambleside and Windermere, you'll enjoy the best of both worlds; explore the delights of the lively villages and lake shore, or hide away in blissful tranquillity. It's just a short stroll to Brockhole - The Lake District Visitor Centre with its many activities, fantastic local produce to buy and eat and boat hire. You can also catch the boat to Ambleside and Windermere, from Brockhole, should you not fancy the car or the walk. The Gallery’s unique open plan accommodation is on the first floor. It has been furnished with no expense spared, to create a contemporary retreat with an infectious sense of calm. You'll find everything you need to relax, pamper and dine together and enjoy the delightful open aspect view from the window with a lively bird table below. Accommodation in detail: Private parking for 1 car. Traditional entrance porch with space for walking gear. A spatial flow staircase leads to the first floor accommodation - a very spacious open plan area that's cleverly arranged to provide a sense of space. Maple storage units surround a king-size bed. There’s a dressing area and luxurious bathroom with whirlpool bath and shower. The main living area is positioned to enjoy the scenery, with furnishings. The kitchen is in a corner of its own, excellently equipped for romantic meals in. Outside you can wander through the tranquil grounds, or take a seat and relax with a glass of wine at your own garden table. Location: The Gallery enjoys a prime Lake District location - whatever style of holiday you're looking for The property lies within a select handful of converted properties, close to the shores of Lake Windermere and almost half-way between the popular villages of Ambleside and Windermere (with Bowness-on-Windermere also only a few miles away). What's more, we highly recommend a romantic drive up to the Queen's Head at Troutbeck (to your north east) then over the Kirkstone Pass to serene Ullswater for an unforgettable day out with stunning scenery Windermere village is the perfect place to stock up with provisions for the kitchen. You'll find a Booths supermarket there (next to Windermere train station), stocking fine local produce as well as everyday essentials. Windermere also has a range of local shops, pubs just a couple of miles down the road from Windermere, you'll find Bowness village on the east shores of the lake. Lively nightlife, restaurants and shops line the high street, and the lake cruises and hire boats are popular attractions in Bowness Bay. Ambleside lies to your north, via a scenic drive on the A591 (voted Britain's favourite stretch of road). The pretty historic village nestles on the northern shore of the Lake and has grown to become one of the Lake District's most cosmopolitan communities without losing its traditional charm. Ambleside is a lovely place to while away a day, and to enjoy a romantic meal by night. Some of the finest restaurants in the Lake District are found in and around Ambleside. Cruises on Lake Windermere can be taken from Waterhead Pier, just outside Ambleside village centre.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
