Townfoot Cottage is designed to provide a perfect holiday at any time of the year. This is a contemporary and sophisticated country cottage, nestling in a 'picture postcard' setting in the heart of the Langdale valley, within the pretty hamlet of Elterwater. Directly from the door you can enjoy some of the most beautiful and inspiring walks in the Lake District, with the added bonus of returning at the end of each day to the charming surroundings of Townfoot Cottage. Found in the corner of a small courtyard of traditional Lakeland cottages, Townfoot Cottage provides two bedrooms and a family bathroom. The cottage entrance brings you into the contemporary, luxury-fitted kitchen and eating area. Alongside is the living area where you can relax and in colder weather, enjoy the warmth of a log-burning stove, while the large windows allow the Lakeland light to flood in. There is a useful laundry/cloakroom at the foot of the stairs and upstairs there are two stylish bedrooms with window seats, where you can enjoy the lovely views. The modern family bathroom is designed for long soaks after a hard day on the fells! Private parking is right outside the cottage. == Accommodation in detail: The contemporary kitchen has everything that you will need, and is fitted with Neff and Bosch appliances. The granite worktop and LED lighting add a touch of luxury to the beautiful style. There is a full-sized fridge and freezer and a washer/dryer in the laundry room. The view from the window frequently includes the famous Lakeland Herdwick sheep, who roam freely around Elterwater Common and can often be seen grazing or wandering on the road just outside the door. The lounge as two real leather sofas and an armchair, solid oak furniture, a log burner. It also has a 50” 4K smart TV with Chromecast and Apple Airplay, on which you can view Disney+, Netflix or Amazon Prime if you have an account. There is also WiFi access throughout the cottage. Upstairs, each of the bedrooms has a solid oak king-size bed and tables, Egyptian cotton bedding, plus a double wardrobe and drawers. There are cushioned window seats in both windows, with wonderful views over the valley. The family bathroom has a bath with a shower over it, perfect for long soaks after a hard day on the fells! Location Whether you wish to walk the Langdale Pikes, photograph the spectacular Langdale Valley or simply escape from the madding crowds, you'll find this holiday cottage in Elterwater a blissful retreat - without straying too far from the highlights of the Lakes. Elterwater village sits between Ambleside and Great Langdale. The small nearby Elterwater tarn is a delight to behold, and can be reached via a path from the Britannia Inn - your quintessential local Lake District pub serving great food and real Lakeland ale. Only a short drive will take you to vibrant Ambleside village and the shores of Lake Windermere. There you'll find a sophisticated range of shops for stocking up the kitchen, acclaimed Lake District restaurants and Windermere Lake Cruises departing from Waterhead Pier providing a scenic route to Bowness and Lakeside! Also nearby is picture perfect Hawkshead and Coniston Water, the Lake District's third largest lake. There you'll find more opportunities for boating activities, perhaps discovering Peel Island - featured in Arthur Ransome's Swallows & Amazons as 'Wild Cat Island'. Also now in addition to these wonderful locations is the complimentry access to Choices Health Club in Troutbeck Bridge.

About the location

LANGDALE

Often referred to as Great Langdale, to distinguish it from nearby Little Langdale, Langdale's name comes from the Old Norse for 'long valley'. Langdale is a u-shaped valley formed by glaciers. It encompasses the two villages of Chapel Stile and Elterwater, as well as the hamlet of High Close. Set in the centre of the Lake District, Langdale is probably best known for its mountains, from the Langdale Pikes – a group of mountains on the northern side of the village – to England’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. Rock climbers will also love Raven Crag, Gimmer Crag and White Ghyll. There Not surprisingly Langdale is also famous for it’s spectacular views, including Dungeon Ghyll Force Waterfall, Harrison Stickle and Pike of Stickle. it is an extremely popular holiday destination and loved by hikers, climbers, fell runners and lovers of the outdoors in general.
