Although popular for its unique rural landscapes, Troutbeck village is free of busy car parks, tourist centres and hectic shopsalthough a small village shop / tea room / part time post office stocks some basics. Most of the village is classed as a conservation area with many listed and National Trust owned buildings, including Townend at the edge of the village, which can be visited for a taste of Westmorland life from centuries gone by.
