    “Bellflower Cottage is a clean, comfortable cottage, well and peacefully situated with the town centre only a short walk away.”

    It provided roomy accommodation for 4 adults, and was an ideal base to explore this beautiful area. The negatives were a general lack of maintenance, from the non-functioning light in the bathroom, the microwave, and a central heating system that needed an overhaul (other visitors have mentioned the leaking onto the back step) Several radiators were lukewarm. Fortunately we had brought logs/firelighters with us, which made our evenings in cosier. There was also a problem with the smoke/carbon ...

There was also a problem with the smoke/carbon monoxide alarms in the bedroom.... fortunately our call to Lake lovers was acted upon quickly and efficiently. With better maintenance, this could be the perfect cottage!

Bellflower Cottage appears, from the outside, to be a typical, Victorian end of terrace house but step inside and you will be instantly taken aback by the cool and contemporary makeover the owners have created. Here old and new blend effortlessly to create a fantastic cottage offering the ideal place to relax with family and friends, situated within easy walking distance of Windermere village. Bellflower Cottage is situated on a quiet street only a few minutes' walk from the friendly and bustling village of Windermere, with a vibrant mix of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and the popular resort of Bowness on the shores of Lake Windermere just a mile away. == Accommodation in detail Entering the cottage the front porch opens to a bright and spacious living space with beautiful period solid oak floor. Comfortable and stylish sofas are arranged around the cosy log burning stove. Feature period pieces of furniture are the key design elements of this cottage that set it apart from the norm. The family dining table sits at the heart of the home and makes it the ideal place to gather and plan your day in the Lakes or to reflect, relax and socialise in the evening. A well-equipped shaker style kitchen is located at the rear of the cottage and includes a feature cooker with gas hob and electric double oven, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washer/dryer. Bellflower Cottage offers a choice of two bedrooms, on the first floor there is a tastefully designed master bedroom with super-kingsize bed, William Morris headboard and period furniture. On the second floor the smart second bedroom can be presented as either a super-kingsize or twin beds (please specify when booking). The bedrooms are complemented by superb Victorian style family bathroom, comprising feature roll top bath with shower over, basin and WC. Add to all this a reading room with a comfortable corner sofa, additional TV, DVD and desk, this is the ideal spot to escape and relax quietly with a good book, watch your favourite TV programme or catch up on your emails or homework! To the rear of the cottage there is a sunny, south-facing courtyard with bistro style table and chairs, just the spot for a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. For those with outdoor gear there is lockable storage for bikes, golf clubs and other sports equipment. Location This gorgeous Lake District cottage takes an enviable location; easily reached by car or by train and perfectly placed to explore Windermere village, Bowness and the delights of Lake Windermere without even having to use a car. Windermere village is a lovely place to make yourself at home, with lazy cafes for breakfast, plenty of shops for stocking up the kitchen, traditional Lake District pubs and several restaurants to choose from. A number of superb walks begin nearby, including the easy ascent of Orrest Head which promises spectacular views of Lake Windermere from the top. Walk or drive less than a mile down the road and you'll reach bustling Bowness, a popular Lake District holiday destination offering sophisticated shopping, a range of restaurants and a lively nightlife - from the cosy 'Hole int Wall' traditional pub to the trendy Bodegas & Sol tapas bar. From Bowness Bay, you can catch a Windermere Lake Cruise to Ambleside or Lakeside - what a way to explore without driving! For touring by car, you'll find Windermere a great place to start. A famously scenic stretch of the A591 leads to Ambleside, Rydal Water and historic Grasmere. Branch off into the Troutbeck Valley and take one of the most breath-taking scenic drives in the Lake District - over Kirkstone Pass to Ullswater with a stop at the acclaimed Queen's Head for lunch. Alternatively, hop aboard the car ferry and discover the tranquillity of Windermere's west short, where lies the newly restored Victorian viewing station, Claife Heights, with superb stained glass windows and a different view of Windermere. A little further along and you'll stumble upon Beatrix Potter's Hill Top at Far Sawrey, with Grizedale and Hawkshead a few minutes beyond.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere are both vibrant, fun-filled places set within the splendid scenery of the Lake District. Both towns provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes whilst Ambleside offers the additional attraction of a boat ride to Bowness, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's 'Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Grizedale Forest Park is within easy driving distance and is home to a range of activities including many good walks, mountain biking and the 'Go Ape' adventure park. The region also boasts many National Trust properties as well as a variety of water sports for those who prefer a more adrenaline-fuelled trip. Children will enjoy a trip to the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness whilst the villages of Grasmere, Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains are all within easy reach.
