What can you expect to see at the Westmorland County Show?

Held in the Lake District, it’s fair to assume that the Westmorland Show will play host to several agricultural and farming-themed exhibits.

Learn more about breeding cattle, sheep, and pigs at the livestock classes. Meet the intelligent (and very cute) foxhounds, or marvel at the show jumping horses.

The Learning for Life Marquee features interactive exhibits, while the Cumberland & Westmorland Wrestling offers something a little different.

Home to the largest local Food Hall in the Northwest, you’ll find yourself in a foodie’s haven. Taste the flavours of Cumbria with locally-sourced cheese, freshly baked pies and delicious artisan chocolates. All products must have been produced or substantially manufactued and finished within a 55 mile radius of the event.

There are more than 400 trade stands, so you can indulge in a spot of retail therapy as well. Vendors include sellers of handmade crafts, livestock equipment and agricultural machinery.

Of course, you can look forward to meeting the friendly Lakelovers team for a chat regarding all things holiday cottages.

Facilities at the Westmorland Show

You’ll find all of your essential amenities on-site at the Westmorland Showground. Public toilets can be found scattered throughout the Showgound, with each disabled toilet equipped with a baby changing table.

For those visiting with little ones, baby changing facilities and a creche staffed with trained professionals can be found in a dedicated marquee.

Accessible parking is available on-site for Blue Badge holders, and wheelchair and electric scooter hire is available via Advanced Mobility.

There’s a delicious range of food and drink concessions available on-site, including a succulent hog roast, vegetarian options and specialist coffee baristas.

Is there parking at the event?

There is free, on-site car parking. There will be signage directing traffic to the car parks as well as stewards on-site to assist.

Please note that there may be a delay accessing the car parks during peak times. We recommend setting off early to avoid disappointment.

Can I bring my dog?

As would be expected with an event in the Lake District, your four-legged friends are more than welcome to join you at this year’s Westmorland Show!

Dogs are to be kept on a short, fixed lead and under control at all times throughout the event. Although the event is pet-friendly, there are some restrictions on where they’re allowed to roam. Dogs aren’t permitted to access The Food Hall and the Poultry Marquees.

If you’re planning on bringing your dog, consider entering your pooch into the 2023 Dog Show! The dog show takes place on the second day, the 14th September. There’s exciting prizes awarded for the Best in Show, Best Veteran in Show and Best Puppy in Show. Find more details about the event here.
