This much-loved Coniston pub serves food made with the finest Lakeland ingredients. Sample Cumberland sausage, Westmorland chutney and Cartmel sticky toffee pudding.
There’s even a sharing board named after The Old Man of Coniston! Comprising of local cheese, bread, pork pie and smoked sausage, it almost rivals the size of the fell itself.

Positioned along the Cumbrian Way, it’d be rude not to enjoy a break at The Ship Inn whilst out on your two-foot adventure. Warm up with a spot of traditional pub fare, or sample something a little different from the specials board!
A Robinsons Brewery, you can expect a decent pint here. And where better to enjoy a drink than from its position high on a hill, framing far-reaching views across Coniston.

On the theme of pubs near Coniston, The Wilson Arms rests slightly further afield. Situated in the nearby village of Torver, The Wilson Arms is your next stop on the Cumbrian Way.
The views are worth the trip alone, with The Old Man of Coniston and Dow Crag looming nearby. A beer garden sits at the front of the pub, perfect for taking in the rural greenery with a drink in hand.
In the unlikely event that it rains in the Lake District (shocking, I know!) there’s a lovely interior to shelter from the elements. Take a seat next to the real log fire and put the world to rights over a pint of Cumbrias finest local ale.
And if you’re feeling peckish, there’s a mouthwatering menu to choose from. With ingredients sourced from farms across the region, you can expect the freshest of flavours. Whether you’re dining for breakfast, lunch or dinner, you’re in for a treat!
Unfortunately The Wilson Arms isn’t pet-friendly throughout. However, dogs are welcome in designated dining areas!
