1) Cherry Garth, Ullswater

Cherry Garth in Hartsop is an ideal location for keen cyclists. Looking to pick up some ascent speed training? Enjoy a cycling holiday in one of the most picturesque and private locations you could imagine. Cherry Garth is off the beaten track, with some of the best cycling tracks right on your doorstep. It’s accessible and offers a very high quality cottage holiday, immaculate inside and out.

Cherry Garth is located in the 17th century village of Hartsop. Ideal for holidaymakers and cyclists wanting peace and tranquillity. Surrounded by beautiful green fields, tress and steep peaks – you’ll be in very good company.

There’s a great cycling public bridleway straight from the village. It leads to Hayeswater Reservoir and up onto the 800m High Street ridge. Hartsop also has a trail running north, towards the Boredale Valley, which runs into Ullswater’s quiet eastern shore. Superb terrain for some proper cycling.

2) Heathfield, Keswick

Heathfield perfect for an active family holiday or group gathering, where you plan to out and explore Derwentwater and the surrounding area. You’ll find a family-size bathroom and 2 en-suites, making this an ideal holiday home for 2 couples or a family with older children (not suitable for under 16s).

A short stroll and you’re in Keswick, where you’ll find a superb theatre, cinema, award-winning outdoor market and lots of shops and eating options.

If you’ve brought your bikes with you, you’ll find yourself excellently positioned for some day trips in the saddle. Keswick lies on the Coast to Coast cycle route 71 and here’s a brochure with some more cycling routes from Keswick.

If you’d like to hire bikes, Whinlatter Forest is only a 15 minute drive away and is home to the longest purpose-built mountain bike trails in the Lakes. You’ll find GoApe here too for a different kind of adrenalin rush. For older kids, there’s a free BMX track, and great zip-wire at Fitz Park, just off Market Square in Keswick.

Keswick is one of the most dog-friendly towns in the UK and so don’t forget to bring pooch too.

3) Little Brook, Ambleside

Located in the stunning scenery of the Lake District National Park in Ambleside, you will discover the delightful countryside cottage, Little Brook.
