Dining Out in Langdale

With Langdale so close by, you’re well served for stocking up on groceries. In the heart of the valley, the New Dungeon Ghyll has a top-class restaurant. It is bookable in advance by non-residents, and a more casual Walkers’ Bar. Nearby Sticklebarn is also a haven for hikers and climbers. It offers sizable portions in a large beer garden that really soaks up the scenery.

The Best of Langdale Pubs

One of the best pubs in Langdale Valley is the Sticklebarn Inn. It’s a National Trust pub specialising in real ale and whisky. It’s a non traditional pub perfect for walkers and families. They have cosy fires, board games and blankets. The Inn even offers towels for drying off damp dogs! They also occasionally screen films and have events such as their regular Sunday quiz. Their food is traditional, hearty pub fare.

Wainwrights’ Inn is beloved by walkers and residents alike. It serves quality pub grub and local desserts, such as sticky toffee pudding. More of a traditional Lake District pub, it also provides sharing platters (ideal for groups on holiday) and a kids menu for small hikers fresh from the trail.

Langdale Restaurants

The Stove Restaurant in Langdale is a popular choice. Their bar features a fireplace and a waterwheel. It is a beautiful place for holidaymakers to relax, either post walk or pre dinner. The wine room is a quiet, child free oasis, ideal for couples on a romantic break who want privacy. The more informal Mezzanine looks out towards the majestic Silver How and is perfect for light lunches. Meals range from steak to delicate salads. For families, they have a children’s menu offering simpler yet still delightful dishes for little ones.

Of course you can always stock up in local shops, or have a supermarket order delivered if you would prefer. But we recommend at least trying these fabulous eateries in Langdale!
