Harry Styles and Taylor Swift in the Lake District

Christmas is traditionally the season of goodwill to all on Earth, and Lakelovers have been embracing this idea with gusto in 2012.

When a Lake District pub organised a charity event, they set their sights high. The event was a 14,000ft skydive! The Angel Inn, Bowness, decided to raise money for the Meningitis Trust by asking for sponsorship for the staff who were taking part in this terrifying jump, and Lakelovers helped with a generous donation towards their eventual £2000 total. This huge sum will go to help a very important cause!

Lakelovers’ generosity this Christmas season doesn’t end there though. In the process of decorating for Christmas, it emerged that there were several superfluous Christmas trees in their possession. Instead of recycling the decorative trees, Lakelovers got in touch with Manna House, a charity for the homeless in the Lake District, and turned the trees over.

The trees are now twinkling across Manna House’s facility and drop-in centre, helping to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter.

As well as giving, Christmas is a time for relaxation and enjoyment. Throughout the holiday period, Lakelovers has a range of Christmas holiday cottages available, and we can’t think of a better place to spend a British Christmas. See the Cumbrian peaks topped with soft, sparkling snow; explore myriad village Christmas fetes; settle down for an evening in a warm, welcoming pub with some hot mulled wine in front of a roaring fire.

The Lakes have earned yet another celebrity endorsement this month, with One Direction singer Harry Styles taking new girlfriend Taylor Swift to Bowness on Windermere for a Lake District short break where they happily posed for pictures with fans and spent some time in Beatrix Potter World. The Pennsylvanian singer-songwriter was amazed by the Lake District’s beauty and when the young couple had a traditional pub meal together, she was shocked by what black pudding is made of, but ate some anyway.

We know how important it is to include the whole family during the festive season, which is why we can offer a range of dog-friendly cottages and large holiday cottages for any number of people.

Christmas and New Year is always such a busy time, with presents to buy, family to visit, cards to write and parties to attend. Why not treat yourself to one of Lakelovers’ short cottage breaks to relax and unwind before or after the big day? It can be difficult to find time enough to think, let alone to find some time together, so why not take advantage of the in-laws’ visiting to mind the kids while you reconnect with a romantic cottage holiday?

Whatever you need from your luxury cottage getaway, Lakelovers has a cottage for you this Christmas. Enjoy yourself this Holiday season.
