Lakeland competition goes down a treat

It has been an exciting start to the year for Lakelovers, with lots of new properties joining our ever-expanding portfolio, but most exciting of all has been the competition, run in partnership with Lakeland, which has seen one lucky winner receive a breath-taking prize!

In February this year, we gave Lakeland customers the opportunity to enter an incredible prize draw to win a holiday totalling £5000; including: a week’s stay in a 5 star luxury Lakelovers holiday home for up to six people; a trip to celebrity chef Peter Sidwell’s Simply Good Cookery School at Rheged; a 3 hour long spa treatment at their chosen property provided by My Personal Sanctuary, and to top it off, Peter Sidwell will also be cooking for the winner and their guests at the winner’s holiday cottage!

The winner had the choice of 6, spectacular, luxury self-catering properties across the Lakes, including: Le Chalet, Upper Longsyke, Mungeon Barn, Haystacks, Idle Mill 2 and Birkwray Barn. Our winner, Paula H from Cardiff, has chosen a stay at the 5 star gold award winning Mungeon Barn, where she and her guests can indulge in a plethora of luxuries, from a dreamy hot tub on the veranda with views to the Lakeland fells, to Cowshed complimentary toiletries in the top of the range Villeroy and Boch designer bathrooms.

At the southern tip of Lake Windermere, set within 400 acres of grounds, Mungeon Barn offers its’ guests a private lake, full of Rainbow Trout for fishing and it also sits along a working farm, home to the famous Belted Galloway cows, or ‘Belties’ as they are known in the Dumfries and Galloway area.

As a gold award property, Mungeon Barn really does go the extra mile for its’ guests, with a 60 inch smart TV, as well as additional TVs throughout the bedrooms, DVD players and even a BOSE i-pod dock. The property also benefits from a Woodburning stove, Wi-Fi internet access and little added extras such as a coffee percolator and an American style fridge freezer with water and ice dispenser.

Peter Sidwell, of ITV’s ‘Britain’s Best Bakery’ fame, has recently opened a cookery school at the Rheged Centre in Penrith, north Lakes. His team, along with guest chefs and artisan cooks, offer day courses from bread making classes, to simply good cakes, fearless with fish and even gluten free cooking to name just a few; with over 50 courses available in total!  The Lakeland competition winner and her guests, will spend the day at Sidwell’s school learning about lots of exciting new cooking skills and tricks. Peter will then cook a 2 course meal, at Mungeon Barn for them to all enjoy.

My Personal Sanctuary, in partnership with Lakelovers, offer in-cottage spa and beauty treatments for all Lakelovers guests. Guests can book treatments in advance of their stay, or during, (depending on availability) and enjoy a relaxing, invigorating experience from the comfort of their cottage; perfect for couples or friends travelling together. Paula and her guests will enjoy a 3 hour spa treatment experience of their choice, as part of this fabulous grand prize.

Here at Lakelovers we run lots of fabulous competitions all year long, from prize draws for free holidays, to photo competitions and lots more.  If you would like to stay ahead of the game and not miss your chance to win next time, make sure you are signed up to our email marketing, which you can do here and that you follow us on Facebook and Twitter!

In Paula’s own words:

“I am absolutely thrilled and so lucky to win this competition. The range of cottages look very luxurious and we are very excited about our stay. The addition of in cottage spa treatments, the cookery lesson and the chef cooked meal make this even more special and I am sure it will be a holiday to remember for many years to come. The scenery looks breath-taking and I can’t wait to don my walking boots and experience it first-hand.”
