It’s a time for reflection and to find a bit of peace. The stillness of the Lake District landscapes offers the chance to be surrounded by lush green countryside, and still waters or a gentle stream. Watch the world go by, lay back and enjoy the clouds scudding across the blue sky, hear the bird song and the lambs bleating and just be.

Away from our screens for a while, perhaps enjoying a wild swim, a fell walk, a potter around a lake or just sitting in a café or pub garden and relaxing. Or perhaps you’ll choose to simply enjoy the outside space around your holiday home, reading the papers or a book.  All is here for you in the Lakes.

Whatever you choose it’s a great chance to slow down and take our foot off the pedal for a while.  Reboot, if you like.  And the joy of being together again, as a family or group of friends feels incredibly emotional.  The things we perhaps used to take for granted – preparing a meal together, talking about our day, laughter, and banter with each other, tired but happy silences as we watch the sunset together.  Sharing an early morning cuppa or late-night sundowner.

If you’re seeking some adrenaline, outdoor bike rides, swims, or bagging a few Wainwrights, the long summer days and staying light till almost midnight means you can fit a lot more into your day.  Imagine how relaxed you’ll feel after a day on the fells and enjoying a well-earned local beer.

Our friends at Cumbria Wildlife Trust are running their ’30 Days Wild’ campaign again throughout June.  A chance to really seek out nature, to share what you find and enjoy the benefits of this natural mood-enhancer.

Wild swimming during lockdown has seen a huge surge in popularity.  Something to do with the freedom water gives, along with the endorphins and the general feeling of wellbeing and joy from taking a dip.  We have many lakes and tarns to choose from.

However you choose to spend your summer, we wish you a wonderful break, and hope you leave the Lakes refreshed and re-energised and able to jump back into life again.

A summer holiday in the Lake District has something for everyone and enjoying it in a unique and hand-picked Lakelovers cottage will ensure you the best summer break possible. Take a look at our summer availability here.
