If you hadn’t already realised we are extremely proud of the area in which we live. So we could think of nothing better than a whole day dedicated to celebrating our local agriculture and produce. Westmorland County Show is held every year on the second Thursday in September. This year it will be on Thursday 13th September. Come rain or shine this is a fantastic day out for the whole family. With 350 trade stands, showjumping and livestock shows the day is full of variety. We will be heading straight for the foodhall which amazes us year on year. Full of local produce to buy, and plenty of free tasters, it is not to be missed.

We will most likely be found at the Hawkshead Relish stand, this is a family run business which operates from the heart of Hawkshead. Their creative mixes of somewhat un-suspected ingredients have a huge range of customers coming back for more. We hope they will have some of their limited edition Spiced Banana Chutney to taste, or maybe their Nettle Jelly? Definitely not to be passed by!

There are plenty of fun activities for the children too, with the ECB Cricket Factory Roadshow and the famous Sheep Show , including the dancing sheep, they are sure to be kept amused.

So picnic rugs at the ready, and maybe waterproofs and wellingtons too, for a day out to celebrate our wonderful county and all it has to offer.
