“On first arrival we were met with very friendly staff they gave us a map and the keys to the lodge I appreciate that they all look the same but it wasn't the one in the pictures we were in the middle of the park no view over the lake like in the booking pictures the outside was covered in cobwebs and what I call sugar stealers so I had to get a brush and sweep the windows and decking area the hot tub wasn't hot and was overfilled with chemicals on night 2 it went stone cold the young lad came and fixed it then the barman came later on to check on it so the staff were very helpful the sofa was most uncomfortable felt about the same age as the lodge no support at all so we sat at the dining table or on the outside chairs the bed gave me a bad back and the curtains let the light in at 5am not blackout so it was impossible to sleep past 6am not good when you're on holiday trying to recharge the clubhouse was okay fish and chips are amazing wine very over priced but the cruzcampo was good the Barman Marcin was very affectionate there was a drop of service and customer focus when he finished his shit and was out of sight dog friendly so that was a good thing overall I'd be happy to return not the best place I've stayed at but it's certainly not the worst either value for money I'd rate this place 6.”

About the location

PENRITH

Keswick 17 miles; Carlisle 20 miles.

The bustling market town of Penrith, once the capital of Cumbria, enjoys a central position between the Lake District, the Westmoorland Dales and North Pennines and is ideally placed for taking in all that the region has to offer. Renowned for its wealth of specialist shops, the sandstone buildings of Penrith hide intriguing yards, lanes and alleyways, with a myriad of attractive cottages, gardens and little shops. With a wide choice of excellent pubs, hotels, restaurants and entertainment, Penrith also offers a museum, and Millennium Trails round the historic city streets. Within easy reach of the town is Rheged – an innovative visitor centre with shops, restaurants, exhibitions and a giant cinema screen showing educational and informative films. Brougham Castle, Brougham Hall (The Windsor of the North), Lowther Castle and Gardens, Long Meg and her daughters (the 3rd largest stone circle in England) and the historic city of Carlisle are all a short drive away, as is the stunning scenery of both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
