Great location to explore the Lakes and Yorkshire Dales.

The local area is amazing too - Beetham and Arnside are both beautiful. Lovely shops and places to eat. Arnside Fish & Chip shop delivers to the cottage, which was a real treat! It was very delicious! Rock Cottage is located on a quiet lane. It is peaceful - the birdsong is delightful! There are homes on the road and the nearby streets so it does not feel too secluded. There is a great local shop around the corner and the local people are very friendly. It is a cosy cottage. The storage heaters work great to heat rooms. I did not use the log burner as it was early September time but it is perfect for a cold evening! The bed is very comfortable. However there are no bedside tables or lights you can turn on/off in bed. The cottage is in need of a little love and maintenance. The outside terrace and garden very much needs some maintenance. Each time, I went out with my dog on her lead and we stayed at the top on the terrace area; she got a lot of green things attached to her fur from the weeds every time we went out. The garden has so much potential and it is a real shame that it is not maintained, even to a basic standard. The outside furniture (chairs/table) need a jet wash. Outside lights not working. Overall, a great last minute break at Rock Cottage. A beautiful cottage in a lovely location - in need of a little more love/maintenance perhaps.

This cottage has a lot of character and charm.

Comfortable, and quiet. It get's the morning sun also!. Take the warning about a narrow stair case seriously as it is narrow and may present access issues for a frailer person, which needs pointed out. As an old cottage you can forgive it's design quirks, and whilst we enjoyed the eccentricity of the lay out to get upstairs, it might not be for everyone. It is a small period cottage, so space to be comfortable, but not too much more than that, but attractive inside, with a lovely kitchen and sitting room. We felt it would benefit from being freshened up, cushions, furnishings etc, and perhaps some more attention to the garden, and seating area to see it's full potential aesthetically. Some outdoor lighting would be of benefit. The plus points are it's location, Southern lakes and Morecambe bay facing villages, nice pubs and cafe's are within short driving distance. 'The Wheatsheaf' in the near village of Beetham was a favourite. Amazing food!. The cottage enjoys peace and quiet which is a big plus, and Storth is a lovely little village. Arnside well worth visiting, just down the road. Glorious view onto the bay. All in, we grew to enjoy Rock Cottage for it's charm, but room for a little polishing up we thought. Prepare for narrow lanes, All part of the fun.
