“We had a lovely week at Swallows Nest, finding it clean, comfortable and well equipped with amazing views (even of the Osprey nest if you bring a telescope!”

) The location is really convenient too. There were a few idiosyncrasies though. The ‘Welcome Pack’ consisted of a little box with one Jcloth, one washing up sponge and five dishwasher tablets, that was it, and there is no dishwasher! A strange welcome. The oven works well but all the markings have worn off the dials so you have no idea what temperature you are cooking at or what mode you are on. The en-suite shower is brilliant when it works but the water flow and temperature are so variable and don’t respond to the controls. Finally (as noted in the Wrens nest review) we lost our total water supply twice, once during the night and then two days later during the day. We were collecting water from the beck to flush the loos. The first time it came back on at 7:30am, the second time I contacted Sykes who were really proactive and sorted it out for us within a few hours, great service. We met the new owner who was very friendly and keen to point out that he knew there were some small issues to rectify and he intended to do so. We really enjoyed our week and are keen to return next year.
