“This is a great place to stay, it's clean, warm and has everything you need.”

There is a short walk into town and having a parking space is really good. Would definitely stay here again.

The property

This tastefully converted joiners workshop sits on the outskirts of Cockermouth, close to the Lake District National Park.

With its convenient location within easy reach of the many attractions of the area, this is a superb stay for lovers of the countryside and coastline to come and enjoy together.

The ground floor plays host to two wonderfully decorated bedrooms, a king-size and a twin room boast a finish like that of a hotel room.

This level also presents a bright and airy family bathroom boasting a bath and a separate shower.

A staircase brings you to the enticing open-plan living area enhanced by exposed beams resting under the rejuvenating vaulted ceiling which allows floods of natural light in through the Velux windows.

This layout comes with a fully equipped modern kitchen as well as a welcoming sitting area perfect for those cosy nights watching your favourite films.

To the outside of Carpenters Cottage lies a wonderfully calming patio providing the perfect spot to enjoy this tranquil location with a relaxing drink or two.

The centre of Cockermouth is close by, a market town brimming with character as it plays host to the Wordsworth House and Garden, as well as an array of charming amenities.

Avid walkers and cyclists don't have to travel far to discover the many scenic paths and trails of the Lake District, an idyllic landscape also offering the fascinating market town of Keswick.

For a trip to the coast, the Solway Firth is close by.

A heart-warming stay, perfect for touring the North West Lakes.

Unfortunately we are not allowed to have any commercial vehicles, Motorhomes or Caravans, trailers parked overnight at the property.
We are lucky to have red squirrels foraging at Strawberry How and would kindly ask people to drive and cycle slowly.Thank you so much.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
