“The house was generally very pleasant and of course we loved the area.”

The accommodation was very spacious, beautifully decorated and clean, and the beds were particularly comfortable. However, the items provided in the kitchen require urgent reassessment. Although the plates, glasses and cutlery were good, there were no dishes suitable for cooking anything in the oven - no casserole, no pie dish, no roasting tin, nothing suitable for cooking for the residents of a house for eight. No scales or measuring jug - none of the basics. This made catering for the group ...

This made catering for the group really tricky and necessitated the purchase of a suitable dish, which Sykes - and the owner - refused to refund. Although it didn't spoil our holiday, it did present a degree of inconvenience which we have never experienced in any of the many cottages we've stayed in over the years. It was unexpected, particularly given the quality (and cost) of the accommodation. And the refusal to refund (or provide something) left an unfortunate lasting impression.

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry that you couldn’t find the kit you needed. There are various cooking/casserole dishes and roasting tins in the corner cupboards, but no scales or measuring jug. We will review and get in any missing equipment. We as owners weren’t consulted on this - Sykes must have made an autonomous decision. I will pick this up with them. Hope to welcome you back soon.
