“The property guide said to leave the cottage clean and tidy but the vacuum cleaner bag was totally full and absolutely reeked of dog.”

Disgusting. We found the bed very hard and uncomfortable. The property was well equipped. We loved the location but on the whole found the property a bit tired especially the downstairs bathroom.

The property

Agathi is a larger than expected end of terrace cottage in the heart of the vibrant and popular market town of Keswick. Refurbished to a high standard by its current owners, Agathi offers high quality accommodation, only a short walk from the market square home to the award winning twice weekly market, the great shopping and excellent selection of cafes, bars and restaurants. All are on the doorstep and are a popular draw whatever the time of year. Agathi is presented with its kitchen/diner, one bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor allowing the lounge to be located in an elevated position on the first floor. A short walk from the front door and you will find yourself on the shores of Derwentwater with regular cruises around the lake and its popular lakeshore footpath. Combine a cruise and a walk to take in the breathtaking views from either Walla Crag or Catbells or those looking for the high fells will head to Blencathra or Grizedale Pike and mountain bikers will enjoy the award wining Altura Traials in Whinlatter Forest. Whatever the time of year, Agathi, offers, comfortable, quality accommodation, in one of the most popular destinations in the Lake District and is a great base from which to enjoy everything the Lake District has to offer. == Accommodation in detail Agathi is located on Poplar Street which is a pedestrianised street leading off the market square so most guests enter the property from the parking space situated to the front of the property just off Central Car Park. The front door has a small open porch and opens to the beautiful kitchen dinner. Fully fitted and well equipped it has everything you could need to enjoy your stay and to prepare a tasty dinner to share around the dining table. The hallway leads to a bright ground floor double bedroom where the former front door opens to a small patio area with bistro table and chairs. The bedroom includes a Smart TV with DVD. Also on the ground floor is a high quality family bathroom with bath and shower over with monsoon shower head. The stairs lead to the first floor and a bright and airy, dual aspect, lounge with comfortable sofas, living flame gas fire and large screen TV and well stocked bookcase Returning to the first floor the second bedroom, with double bed, is complemented with an ensuite shower room with shower cubicle, basin and WC. The bedroom includes a Smart TV and DVD. Unfortunately the owner does not believe this property is suitable for children under 11 years. Location Keswick is one of the Lake District's most popular destinations. This friendly town hosts the very popular twice weekly market that has recently won the coveted “Best Outdoor Market” in the Great British Market Awards. The village also offers a fantastic array of shops offering everything from craft bakeries and local produce, antiques, crafts and much, much more. If you are looking for somewhere to eat and drink, a week just won't be long enough to sample the great range of pubs, restaurants, bistros, cafes and wine bars! For a great evening out why not visit the 100 year old Alhambra offering first class cinema entertainment in traditional surroundings or enjoy an evening at “the most beautiful and friendly theatre in Britain”, the 400 seat Theatre By The Lake on the shores of Derwentwater. Enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater, walk onto the fells; Cat Bells, Skiddaw, Coledale Horeshoe and Blencathra are all nearby, head underground at Honister Slate Mines, enjoy mountain biking in Whinlatter Forest. For day trips throughout the Lake District, Ullswater is a short drive away offering lake cruises, great walking and the beautiful Aira Force Waterfall, Buttermere and Crummock Water offer sublime scenery. Ashness Bridge and Surprise View situated above the Borrowdale Valley should not be missed and perhaps even a cup of tea and homemade cake in the unspoilt village of Watendlath.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
