Fell End

We've been to Fell End a few times now and we love the property,it's ideal for us,only downside is the garden is not surcure for the dog,we have already booked for next year and we are looking forward to going back

Good house in a great location for exploring Keswick and the surrounding area, parking for the cars - we had two - was very handy but the house was in easy walking distance of the town.

As four adults there was plenty of space for us, a party of five would not have enough garden chairs but the house was well equipped otherwise. The only negatives for us were the small towels and the cracked leather on the recliner in the lounge, neither of which were major issues! Would happily stay here again when we visit the area next.

Another great stay at Fell End, we love the quiet location and easy access to Keswick town centre along with its parks and fells.

The replacement new sofa in the bay window is great to relax and enjoy reading a book in. The removal of a large tree has opened up the rear garden and increased the evening sun on to the patio.

2nd time of staying here.

Location is great for everything, loved kitchen diner, bed comfy, great powerful shower. Bonus of off road parking for at least 2 cars. Only issue for future visitors with dog maybe garden not secure but that was only problem. Will return in future as we loved keswick.

Fantastic house - spotlessly clean.

A 5 min walk to the centre of Keswick. Having a driveway to park the car was a bonus. Our only issue were there were no extra bin bags for the small kitchen bin. A fantastic property.

We have been staying here for the same week for about five years now, and find it suits us very well.

Quiet location, but within ten minutes walk to town centre, and room on the drive for at least two cars. Kitchen facilities very good, always clean and tidy, and very handy having toilet/shower room downstairs, as well as main bathroom upstairs. Slight problem this year with upstairs shower. The temperature regulator is not working correctly, as it is only passing hot water and not allowing cold water to be mixed in. Hopefully this will be reported to the owner to be fixed. Overall a very nice property.

Excellent for access to centre of Keswick.

Very comfortable accommodation, pleasant garden. Thoroughly recommend it as a place to stay.

pkus side was the driveway for our large vehicle very clean and had all necessary comforts of the home issue with Internet upon arrival which was dealt with very speedily. Leaking kitchen tap needs to be addressed.outside porch light also needs replacing .would be ideal if there was a full length mirror in hallway? Extra blankets due to the -7c nights! Would return

Great location and very well provisioned holiday cottage.

Being so close to Keswick town centre with two parking spots is extremely convenient. All in all a great place to stay. If I was to offer advice on some minor improvements they would be that currently the WiFi password is out of date in the guest book, we couldn’t connect to it directly all week, the mattresses are a bit hard and the property could do with a gate/fence between the front and rear to make it fully dog friendly. Despite this we would 100% stay again

The property was immaculate clean tidy every facility one would need for an enjoyable holiday .

if I was to comment on minor faults lack of outside lighting especially at rear there was lights but didn’t work .the tv very complicated couldn’t get on channels I wanted ,other than this great place to stay Thankyou p saxton

Great place to stay, spacious and very comfortable.

Great bonus of parking in drive, as street parking is limited. Short walk into Keswick, and down to Derwentwater. We loved it, looked to book next year - but already fully booked! Great family holiday.

Fell End is a homely and spacious property on a quiet residential street.

It’s ideally located close to Keswick with the added bonus of a south facing garden and patio.

A clean and well-appointed house in a quiet residential area, a short walk from the centre of town.

Having off-street parking was a bonus, but parking in the street would not have been a problem. The garden was well tended, although the weather meant we could not make the best use of it.

We arrived slightly early and parked the car and were waiting on the 15:00 entry time.

It was unfortunate that the cleaner only arrived at the property at 14:45, which meant that we were unable to access the property at our designated arrival time of 15:00. As the cleaner was unable to advise how long she would take to clean the property, we went for a walk into town and when we returned at approximately 17:30, it seemed that the cleaning had been rushed. The property is a good size in a central location with parking in a driveway.

Brilliant house, plenty of space, we had a great stay and it’s such an amazing location to wander into Keswick town or to head down to the lake or further afield!

Only downside for us was that there was no recycling bin.

This is a good base for a group.

We go to the lakes every year to walk, play golf and socialise. It is a little out out town but ideal due to the fact that it has two car parking spaces. The house is in good order and the garden is a bonus. The only downside is that the internet is poor. We all need to catch up with work emails and connections for meetings is sketchy at best

We’ve stayed many times at Fell End, it’s quiet convenient location and homely feel prove very appealing for us.

The now neatly pruned hedge running along the driveway has made parking much easier. The new garden furniture makes sitting in the south facing garden a joy. One of the couches in the lounge is very low to ground and quite soft.

An absolutely beatiful property, in a superb location, close to the town centre, with good road access and walking routes.

The property was immaculate on our arrival and everything in good order. A well stocked kitchen with every appliance and accessory we could hope for. The downstairs rooms were very comfortable and perfect for relaxing in the evening after a day of activities Only things I would mention/recommend are that the bedrooms could do with some blackout curtains, it was very light upstairs later in the day when trying to get the children to bed, and the single beds could do with longer duvets - my feet were poking out of the bottom. In house instructions state that the gardner attends every other Tuesday, so I moved my car back to allow access, but he didn't and the garden clearly hadn't been touched for a couple of weeks, which was disappointing as I had the car right up to keep the children safe when playing in the back garden

We loved our stay in Fen End, thank you.

We found the house comfortable, homely, warm and well equipped. It was well located for our needs and having a garden was a huge bonus - and a car port area as my husband decided to travel on his motorbike! A few constructive criticisms include: Black out curtains in the bedrooms would be most welcome. It was very light in the morning and didn't enable a full nights sleep to be enjoyed. The window lock in the downstairs bathroom is broken and falls out of the mechanism when touched. Some areas of the house weren't finely cleaned - the bottoms of the chairs in the dining/lounge area/the shower units could have done with a deeper clean. We were unable to find anything to clean the bath out with after use. It would have been good to have been left with a few key items (such as surface spray and a clean j cloth for this use). The freezer space is very small and it would have been beneficial to have known this before we received our tesco order. It would have been great to have had some pots with lids to store food/take sandwiches/etc. And a few more items of cutlery. Is there recycling in Keswick? We were a bit shocked to have to put everything into one bin. At previous properties, it gave us details of local recycling instructions to help with this. We had another fantastic stay at Fell End.

The house is situated within a short walk of Keswick town centre and wonderful walks in any direction. We arrived and found the house immaculately presented with some welcome biscuits an added bonus. There was everything we needed in the kitchen including some washing tabs for both clothes and dishes. A nice touch. The heating was perfect for us and we always returned to a lovely warm house. Thanks for providing a lovely home for us to holiday in.

Wonderful house, felt like a home from home.

Everything you could need( apart from a bottle opener). Perfect place to relax just prior to Christmas. Keswick was outstanding in its Christmas atmosphere and great light show.

Love the house very comfortable love the location ,close to town centre ,yet very quiet street .

Very well located property with almost everything we needed although the details stated “secure bike storage” so we took bikes, but there was none.

Rang the agent and they confirmed the details stated this, but they had no further information and told us the info pack in the house would likely have details but there were none. House could do with a couple of coffee tables in the 2 seating areas and coat hooks but other than these 3 things, would recommend a stay at Fell End.

brilliant to have parking. We only took our car out once. Cottage is well equipped and owners try to keep up with maintenance. We had the gardener and window cleaner on the same day. Hope to come back here if there’s availability.

This is our second stay at fell end, perfect location for exploring Keswick and the area, no need to move your car all week.

The garden maintenance needs addressing hasn't been done in a while, spoils the view looking at a very over grown lawn. I strongly feel the back needs to be gated when it advertised as dog friendly, we had to reverse one car to the house/ driveway and block with the bins and things we could find to stop the dog getting out, apart from that Loveley house to stay in.

We found Fell End to be to be clean, well presented and particularly well equipped property, which we quickly felt at home in.

There was pleanty of space in all the rooms and more space than we realised for parking our large estate car and storeage space too under the car port and nice garden to relax in. We really enjoyed our peaceful stay here, which has good access to the town centre in a 10 walk, we hope to stay here again. Thank you.

Could do with some black out blinds in the front bedrooms for the summer months.

Fell End is located in a quiet and pleasant area of Keswick just a 10 minute level walk to the town centre.

We find it’s an ideal base to explore the local area.

Had everything we needed to make our stay fabulous. Property was immaculately clean when we arrived.

Clean tidy with a good range of facilities

Fell cottage is spacious and all rooms are a decent size, the property was generally clean and tidy, the walls and doors had some dirty marks from hands etc and was dusty on some surfaces and the shower head is dirty and needs a thorough clean, we also noticed the washing machine was very dirty and required and good clean and rinse before it could be used.

There was a odour in the down stairs toilet which meant we had to leave the small window open but this was more likely due to local drains. The kitchen is large and roomy with a dishwasher. The kitchen Needs to be better equipped with knifes, chopping boards and glasses etc, The patio door to back garden is very stiff and the garden is only fenced on the sides and is not secure for dogs as the back is open and the drive to the front road is open. Mostly small points and attention to detail needed by cleaners there was nothing major and we would book here again as the location is ideal close to the town and local walks

The quality of cleaning was very poor we have stayed at this property many times the sliding door in kitchen did not open properly very stiff the large sofa in the lounge behind the door smelt of dog wee .

the cost of the cottage is to high for the quality been provided the owner should go and take a look around the property from time to time needs a freshening up . Shame because the location is perfect for Keswick with of road parking .

Lovely cottage in close proximity to Keswick- walkable into town in 5 mins.

The cottage had everything we needed and we had a comfortable stay. Good base for some lovely walks. Made use of the rocking chair in the bedroom for feeding our baby :) Our only comments are: 1. The garden isn't secure so we needed to keep an eye on the dog every time we let her out as she could run right round the side of the house to the road, albeit a quiet residential street. 2. The washing machine needed a clean as was grubby around the trim and marked our clothes jn places. 3. Would be really handy to have some coat hooks to hang your coats on after walks. 4. The beds are rather hard. We had to sleep on top of a duvet to make it comfortable! 5. I had requested a cot in the cottage but there wasn't one when we arrived. Luckily we had decided to take our travel cot anyway. Other than those minor points we had a lovely time at Fell End thank you!

We have stayed in several properties in Keswick, loved this property, perfect location, only one thing that the garden should be enclosed especially when advertised for dogs.

didn't realise this until after we had booked, luckily my so s dog only went out for a nose once. Already booked for next year

We had a lovely stay at Fell End with two young children.

It is in a good location, less than 10 minutes walk from the centre of Keswick. The house is very comfortable and it was great to have off street parking. The garden is nice though the grass needed cutting and inside some of the carpets need cleaning (maybe replacing) but these were minor points. We would recommend it and would stay again ourselves.

Fell end is a lovely place to stay , parking the car on the driveway is a bonus .

A beautiful garden to relax in on an evening or have coffee . The house is in a quiet peaceful area and is well equipped and comfortable , and within walking distance of centre of town , the only fault as such was that the furniture , skirting , widow sills etc. could do with a dust , obviously had not been done for a while . However we had a great holiday and would definitely return .

This is our 3rd holiday staying at Fell End.

We find the quiet location is excellent for exploring Keswick and its local attractions. The property itself is comfortable and spacious with a south west facing patio which is ideal to enjoy the afternoon sunshine.

Great property, we loved our stay hear and even got some snow!

It was great to have off street parking. It would be even better if the garden was made more secure for the dog visitors but we just took ours out on his lead. The biscuits where a lovely touch, although we were surprised no tea or coffee.

We have stayed in Keswick many times but Fell End is the best property we have stayed in.

The weather was magical all week. Thick frost and freezing cold. Bliss to come back to Fell End after a day of walking. Cosy evenings in the lovely living room. Highly recommend .

Superb house in an excellent quiet location from which you can easily access Keswick and the surrounding area.

Enjoyed our stay enormously.

The location is an excellent base for exploring the Lake District and the off-road parking is great (now that the entrance has been widened). The house was well appointed and very comfortable for our grown up family of 4. The kitchen was kitted out well - it was easy to just turn up and start holidaying from day 1. My only issue is that the listing describes the car-port as providing "secure storage" which is not, IMO, accurate. Whilst it was possible to secure our kayak with a chain to the wooden supports, this was hard to do and without a gate and/or secure fixing posts (metal and concreted in) I would say it was not as secure as the listing implies.

Cottage really comfortable and clean, ideal for base for walking and town.

Fell End is a well presented property which has a light airy feel to it.

The peaceful location and easy 10 minute stroll in to Keswick make it an ideal holiday base so much so we've booked 2 further stays next year. Parking on driveway is really simple now the gate post and part of the wall have been removed.

Wonderful House and lovely garden in a great and peaceful location yet just 10 minutes walk into the heart of Keswick. Had a really good week. Many of the problems reported in previous reviews have been sorted out. Home from home. Loved it here and would gladly come back again.

The property wasn’t as described as the garden was completely open not enclosed as originally described.

It would be unsuitable for people with dogs or young children as the garden is open to the driveway and road. The owners suggestion of parking the car to block it is not a helpful one - for a start you wouldn’t be able to open the door to get out as the drive isn’t wide enough at that point. The bottom of the garden has a white plastic rope across saying no access - it had some kind of run down shed/greenhouse beyond. We didn’t go close enough to look. The garden is a mess compared to the house. It is completely over looked even on the patio. A small wire fence and a couple of sparse shrubs meant sitting outside the neighbours are looking at you. Not great when they had 5 kids running around screaming. The garden was usable. This was frustrating as we booked this house wanting a garden and luckily for us the weather was very good making it even more frustrating. The house was ok but dirty dishes were left in the dishwasher and the outside bin was completely full on arrival. It wasn’t emptied during our stay either. The water pressure was rubbish so even though it has two showers you can use them at the same time. The significant price increase really isn’t justified - too many things were wrong to justify it even with covid, cost of living etc. Disappointing as we’ve had lovely cottages through Heart of the Lakes in previous years but this has put us off booking with you again.

Game of 2 halves as they say, first half the house is lovely and well located, warm and cosy.

However the contents inside are at times dire. The kitchen utensils and pans are terrible and look like they came from any old place the owners could get them from, come on guys get some new stuff. Crockery is OK but a big shortage on things like decent measuring jugs etc. The sofa opposite the fire is fit for the tip, not because it looks bad but because it's like sitting on the floor, the guts have gone out of it. The week was made somewhat sickly though by the end of the week strip down of the bedding as requested. Owners you should make sure that when you take duvet covers off the duvet is presentable, the main bedroom duvet had a big brown stain on it, don't even want to think what might have caused that, get yourself some new cleaners if they cant see things like that. Also mentioned by others is the TV, an ancient JVC that's about as smart as a brick is not good enough these days, nothing wrong with the connection speed, just the TV does not support the latest tech. And yes the signal is rubbish at times when watching terrestrial TV. The driveway as mentioned by others is at times inaccessible if you have a decent sized car, get rid of the metal post and 300mm of the wall, sorted in an hour. Garden is not secure for dogs, also mentioned before, and needs a gate to the driveway, the rest is reasonable. It's a shame, it could and should be so good, but unfortunately it's let down by what's inside it, so no we won't be visiting again, and we go to the Lakes every year, and really this is our first issue in 25 years of staying in various locations, and the first negative review we've posted. 2 stars for the property, but nothing for the contents unfortunately.

Having been in this property before we discovered some bad points this time.

Both toilets under the rim were filthy and not hygienic. On stripping the bed linen as requested on departure we found a large stain on the double duvet which looked like it had been washed but was still clearly present, this should be changed for a new one immediately. The sofas in the lounge are in need of replacement the cushions have gone and you just sink in to them, not pleasant to sit on. Apart from these points the accommodation and facilities are good. It is a nice quiet location with in a stroll of the town.

An excellent property in a superb location.

Warm and welcoming during a very cold, wet week. Garden is not actually enclosed as it is open to the road. Parking would be vastly improved if the unused gate post and protruding brickwork were removed.

The television reception is poor and at times was not watchable, we switched off.

Why not use WiFi option for tv, a simple solution. Two part used toilet rolls one in each bathroom is rather stingy. Parking for larger cars is very tight. The metal post and low wall exasperated the difficulty especially when the street is packed with other vehicles. These could easily be improved. An extra front door key would be nice as access to key box and patio door is not possible with two large cars on the drive. The oven needed a good clean, although to be fair we did not use it as we ate out on a night. Other than than these issues it was a nice house in a good location.

Lovely house in a great location near to town but very quiet.

Shame that the garden isn't enclosed and secure especially when having a dog. Water pressure drops when running more than one item at a time and would be nice to have some blinds in the living room and front bedrooms for some privacy. Would book again for 2022 but the only thing putting us off is the cost, a price increase of £450 from this year, I expect a small rise but that amount is extortionate.

This could be a lovely holiday property if the owner spent some money on it and it had some TLC.

Shortly before our arrival date I saw some reviews complaining about the cleanliness and the poor TV reception. I contacted Heart Of The Lakes and was reassured that the issues had been resolved. Sadly this was not the case. One of the sofas was covered in dog hairs, the joints on the dining table had food debris in them and the windows were dirty. The outside space under the car port had rubbish which had clearly been there some time. On the terrace there were two chimney pots with pots of dead flowers in them. The tv reception was appalling and at times it was impossible to watch anything. The water pressure is poor and when water is drawn in one area, it stops the flow elsewhere. The kitchen is not well supplied with equipment.This is not a cheap property to stay in and should be better for the price. I would never stay here again

Really appreciated the outside space in the wonderful weather.

Great too that there is a drive for parking two cars. Unfortunately there was an issue parking wider cars. The hedge could do with being cut back. Not sure why there is a gatepost with no gate and the bricks of the wall sticking out also add to the entry problem. We really like the open plan, light and airy back public room downstairs. We liked that this area of the town is quiet. There was a problem with water pressure, which I appreciate might have been the case elsewhere in the town. It was not possible to have both showers in use at one time. As soon as a second source of water was used anywhere in the house, the pressure deteriorated considerably. Would appreciate a basin in the kitchen sink. Basic cleaning was ok but anything beyond that not really good enough e.g. there was a layer of dust on top of the chest of drawers in the twin room. With the exception of the water pressure, all those other issues could be easily resolved. This was our second visit and we do like the property.

Beds far too hard - could do with a mattress topper Shower only works if not using the water elsewhere , toilet , washing machine or dishwasher- power very poor TV terrible interferance and subtitles taking over most of the screen

Although we had to defer for a year due to Covid19 the additional cost was unnecessary high originally quoted an extra £220 eventually settled on £117.

Having stayed at this property for a number of years, the cleanliness was not up to normal standards and the property look tired and in need of a good spruce up and lick of paint. The lack of suitable cookware dishes was disappointing. The TV had intermitting problems especially on BBC channels and in these times I would expect more choice. The instructions for the central heating was very poor again. However still enjoyed the lakes and the location of the property.

The standard of cleaning was poor.

The TV was almost useless as far as BBC was concerned i.e. no reception for 2 days & the rest of the time the picture & sound broke up so much it was impossible to watch. The upstairs shower is poor with the water temperature fluctuating far too much during showering & low water pressure. There also needs to be far more instruction available on managing the CH - what is in the CH cover is useless.

An excellent property. Just needs bath mats (we brought our own towels). One of the best houses we have stayed in. thank you.

Perfect holiday and perfect house to stay in. We stay in the Lakes fairly frequently and have high expectations of the properties we rent and Fell End is one of the best we have stayed in. Everything felt fresh and clean. Lovely!
