Lillibet Cottage

Fantastic cottage had a fabulous stay, would not hesitate to book again in the future.

Stone Staircase to Kitchen could do with a couple of ‘Grab Handles’ for safety. Also the Microwave requires replacement as underneath the Glass Turntable is rusted and corroded, again for safety. Thank you.

The front door lock was not working which was alarming.

We used the back door, in the basement kitchen. I phoned in to ask for maintenance and said we had a list of other issues. I was told to leave it on the dining room table but nothing was remedied, nor was there a phone call to check if work was done Ceiling light in single bedroom not working Microwave should be condemned. Rusty inside, glass plate dirty. Cafetière not washed out— still had coffee grounds in it. No house folder with info, so no info about which bin to use, only a note on pinboard re recycling point. Sieve in kitchen cupboard totally rusted. Also rust on both toilet roll holders. Sweety wrappers (lots of them) stuffed down back of bed on top floor. Poor mattress in double bedroom No scissors in kitchen, dirt baked on to baking trays. Two downlighters in kitchen not working, not the nightlight at the bottom of the stairs to bedrooms. Overall, very disappointing, and I believe we should receive compensation Good points: location, parking, Nespresso machine and milk frother

Kitchen was very dirty, no cupbord space cluttered worktops.

Sofa and chairs bot that comfortable.. wifi was very slow...apart from that it was in ideal location with short walk to town .

Location of the property is perfect , within 1 minute stroll of the town centre and all the shops, cafes and restaurants.

With a parking space at the property makes it a great choice, if you have a hatchback or medium size car as the space is small and on an incline with a tree and its roots taking up space, accurately noted in the property description and gladly our car fit the requirements for the space available. The property is spacious and well equipped, the view from the attic bedroom is stunning and definitely worth the climb of the stairs! Not for people with any hip or joint issues, or younger children. Two other bedrooms are well proportioned and equipped, the double boasting a small en-suite shower room which was a good bonus travelling as a family! The kitchen in the basement is great and private and added charm to the property, the steps are steep and the ‘mind your head’ warnings are well placed as my husband found out on the first day! We had a great stay at Lillibet Cottage and enjoyed the proximity to the amenities and joy of Keswick especially on very wet rainy days.

Very central- great location! Car parking space is a great bonus (careful of the large rocks for your bumpers) Just be wary of the steps going from kitchen to first floor - nothing negative just a friendly warning as they are steep and winding. Would definitely stay again, cottage very clean and had a homely vibe. Loved the added touch of little plug in lights in hallways and stairs that were motion sensored, such a great idea!

I stayed at Lillibet cottage with 2 friends, we had a great stay.

The cottage was well maintained and very comfortable. We all said that the beds were very comfortable, plenty of kitchen equipment, glasses, mugs etc. The only thing that would have been nice would be a few kitchen essentials like salt and pepper for when you cook. From my experience there is often these essentials in holoiday cottages which can be useful (a minor point thoughP) There are a lot of steps (particularly steep ones down to the kitchen) so could be tricky for anyone less able (or having achy legs after climbing scarfell pike) but very good central location and nice to have a parking space. Thank you for a lovely stay, hopefully we'll be back one day.

The house was super handy for the town, and it was well equipped.

However, there was no cupboard space for visitors bits and bobs in the kitchen, the kitchen steps are properly hairy (maybe a handrail?), the front door and porch door seem not to lock properly, the toilet seat in the ensuite, which was reported as wonky last October hasn't been replaced, the hook and eye fixing in the main bathroom has become almost detached from the door, and the parking space (an absolute godsend!) really needs a dropped curb access and tarmac on the base, as it's a bit of a mission getting on and off! Also, the sash window in the small bedroom does not close.

Pros - Fantastic location, smart and clean property, well equipped.

Cons - The stairs down to the kitchen are terrible, dangerous for elderly or young children. Parking is very tight if you have a large vehicle, I had to park on a diagonal so the back end wasn't in the road.

We had a good stay at Lillibet over new year.

The cottage is great in lots of ways but there were a couple of niggles. The heating was on low when we arrived which made for a slightly chilly first night, not helped by the gas fire in the kitchen not working. A few other things weren’t working either including the blender and electric whisk. We could have followed these up but on a five day break our priorities were elsewhere. It was also a bit of a faff trooping up to the dining room to get glasses. The parking is on a rough piece of ground which is on quite a slope and does not have a dropped kerb which made parking a little challenging on a dark December evening. Having said all this, we did have a good holiday and would stay again.

Well appointed holiday home in great location

Both bedding and towels could do with replacing as well as the wonky toilet seat in the ensuite shower room , I did report it on Saturday 05/10/24 and was told it would be passed on to the maintenance team on the Monday and agreed to leave a key in the key safe and did so every day till we left but no sign of anything being done.

Fantastic stay.

Great location and the cottage was clean, comfortable and cosy. I noticed some of the previous comments regarding the parking being too tight for 2 small cars. Well we had 2 large cars and with a bit of patience and care we managed to get both of our larger than average cars parked in the space with no issue! Overall a great experience and we would look to come back

Absolutely lovely home with everything needed for our short stay.

We were very comfortable. Very minor constructive feedback would be to include information about which external bin belongs to the property as we did not find this obvious, and also the recycle bin. I think it would also be useful to inform clients that the key safe box is located at the rear door to the property. The property's central location in Keswick is brilliant.

Located within 5 minutes walk from the town centre.

Two good restaurants (Italian and Indian) around the corner from the property. Shop just around the corner for bread, milk, etc. Property clean and well maintained. Great view of the mountains from the bedroom on the top floor Parking space available (on a slight incline)

Lillibet cottage is a lovely 4 storey cottage ideally placed for the shops and everything Keswick has to offer and is tastefully decorated, reflecting the area and the surrounding hills.

The stairs leading upstairs are very steep. The attic room has beautiful views of Skiddaw and the surrounding hills. However on the first night we had heavy rain. Not sure if it was an unfamiliar bed or the rain hitting the skylight and roof which caused a restless night. No problems on the following nights. The kitchen on the ground floor which is accessed via more stairs contained all we needed and like the rooms above clean and tidy. Sadly there were two things which let the property down. We requested a highchair and cot to be provided. The highchair supplied was in a filthy condition and covered in mould, certainly not fit for an 11 month old baby. Whenever we leave a rental property we endeavour to leave it in the same condition as we arrived. We cleaned where we could, however the vacuum cleaner supplied was in an even worse state than the highchair. No attempt had been made to clean it or empty the full dust bin. The rotating brush head even had something wrapped around it, so no attempt made to use it. The details of the property specified parking for two medium sized cars. We had a Tiguan and a Kadjar, only one would fit in the space provided. The parking area is at the rear of the property, its sloped and cobbled and needed some of the foliage cutting back in places. We had to find an alternate parking space on the surrounding roads, most of which were limited time disk controlled parking.

Lillibet cottage is a beautifully furnished and comfortable cottage just minutes away from the centre of Keswick and lakeshore.

But it’s a lovely quiet street and you’d never guess how close you are to shops, cafes and restaurants. As the listing says, there are a lot of steps at Lillibet cottage so it’s definitely not one for those who are unsteady on their feet. But our family would happily come back again - it’s been a lovely stay!
