    “A lovely cosy cottage in a great position.”

    Our pooch was delighted that the park was a two minute stroll…he loves Fitz Park, as do we. Parking at the property, whilst a little tight for a big car (Volvo XC60) is a very welcome addition for a town centre property. A secure little garden is also very useful. We were there just after Christmas for New Year and the cottage was beautifully decorated for Christmas, thank you. It remained below freezing for the whole of our visit so the pretty little gas fire was very useful and warmed ...

We regularly visit Keswick and this is one of the nicest places we have stayed. If we don’t end up with two dogs, a possibility, we will definitely return.

Nestled between the foothills of Skiddaw and the shores of Derwentwater, in the market town of Keswick, is this mid-terrace, period stone property, Primrose Cottage. Located within 5 minutes of Keswick Market Square and being just a short distance from River Greta and Fitz Park, Primrose Cottage is a perfect break for a family of four/couples or friends looking to escape to the Lake District. Internally, the cottage has been lovingly restored by its owners and has many original features.

It is presented in a traditional style with a well-appointed and equipped kitchen/diner, featuring all the mod cons needed for a week away. The cosy and welcoming sitting room invites you to relax, with a gas fire and TV for spending down time in the evening. Head out the back door to access the enclosed paved courtyard, with mature shrubs and dining set for when you fancy breakfast outside. Head upstairs and discover the bedrooms, both featuring king sized beds, both neutrally presented with rustic features. There is also a convenient cloakroom with WC and basin Keswick's superb amenities are just a short walk away, including a range of excellent restaurants, charming tea rooms, quirky bars and independent and antique shops. There's plenty of attractions to box off; decide between the Pencil Museum, Keswick Museum and The Puzzling Place on rainy days, whilst the charming Fitz Park, Hope Park and Theatre By The Lake are all great choices for when the sun is out. Lace up those walking boots and join the scenic trails of Skiddaw, the K2T or Latrigg, or for those seeking a different challenge, hire a boat out on Derwentwater or scale the heights of Helvellyn! KESWICK

Bassenthwaite 7 miles, Ullswater 16.6 miles; Cockermouth 13 miles.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw or the famous Catbells, there really is something for everyone. Visit Castlerigg Stone Circle, the Jennings Brewery and Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the Bassenthwaite Lake, or take a fabulous boat trip around Derwentwater.
