The location was excellent, near the centre of Keswick, in easy walking distance (a few minutes) of the town centre, but also quiet. The house was clean, comfortable and well furnished. We all had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return.

“The house was just lovely, very home-from-home.”

Had everything you could need. Beds very comfortable House was very clean. Also in a great location, just five minutes from the centre and easy to get to nearby walks. Couldn't fault the house. Only for info, the yard is small but we didn't use. Parking outside could be a problem at busy times but we didn't have any issues. Loved the house and Keswick ( which is so dog friendly) we're planning our return trip in the Autumn.

“Stanegarth in Keswick is a wonder of a place!”

The house has been so tastefully and cleverly renovated, to get maximum use from the gorgeous three floor space. It is beautifully decorated throughout and feels like a cosy home-from-home. The kitchen is very well equipped, and we were able to cook properly and well with all things provided. A great washing machine and dishwasher too – very good cleans form both! The living/dining room is extremely cosy and practical with good lighting. Having an open fire makes all the difference to a holiday in the autumn or winter, and was one of the main reasons that we chose the house – the fireplace is a lovely size, and we were able to get a few roaring fires going. They added a great sense of atmosphere to our stay! The bath and showers had great water pressure and always plenty of hot water, even with 5 of us staying! Super comfy beds topped everything off! The location is just perfect, a quieter side of Keswick but short walk to the centre! Such a wonderfully genuine and professional welcome, with a lovely selection of local goodies. Very thoughtful! We immediately felt relaxed and at home, and excited to be there. We would highly recommend this place, and hope to be back! Well done Stanegarth, five stars!

“Stayed August Bank holiday week 2023.”

The house is inviting and comfortable. Good size lounge and dining area with well stocked kitchen. Small rear yard area that gets sun in the afternoon evening, with table and to relax. 3 good sized bedrooms with comfortable beds. 3 bathrooms. Nice cinema room on 2nd floor and watched a couple of movies. House was clean throughout which was good. Would be happy to return.

“Great property in a fantastic location.”

The house is really spacious and comfortable. The top floor snug is such a well thought out idea and a lovely little treat. The house was clean and tidy, plenty of books and games to keep us occupied. The kitchen is clean, modern and well stocked with everything you need. Nice touch in leaving some tea and biscuits, and Kendal mint cake which kept us going whilst out on the fells. I would love to stay here again.

“Property was excellent.”

Well decorated, modernised, and equipped. Fans were provided in all rooms which was a real bonus given the weather. Location was perfect 5-10 minutes walk to lakeside, riverside parks, and town centre. Specially enjoyed the square orange restaurant and the crafty bar, but all of the pubs/cafes were really welcoming and dog friendly. Few minor niggles.. Car parking was NOT as easy as suggested, and took 3 attempts until moved to outside property, as all surrounding streets were rammed. So we didnt move the car once parked outside, and someone keyed the side of the car at some point. Bolt on back yard was not secure, and blew open at some point. Not good if pet or child left unattended for a while Rubbish bins were all full on arrival, and only general waste was emptied during the week, so unable to recycle and again had to leave all bins full for next guests. Looked same for all properties on street. Obvs council and not owner issue. The guide to the property folder was a little tired and disorganised. Would have liked a guest book as would have liked to put some nice words in about how much we enjoyed our stay, and the property itself, and also to read other reviews and any tips Feel free to publish without 'niggles'

“Second time at this property and i feel it is needing a bit of a freshen up.”

On arrival the front door area full of weeds and dirt, the coir mat needs replacing and door cleaned. Not a great first impression. Paint work inside needs redoing in places. Back door dirt and dust at the carpet area. Corn kernels stuck to the filter in dishwasher. Crumbs inside cupboard to left of fridge. The fridge shelf on the door is broken in 2 places and didnt feel could safely put milk there. Fridge door didnt seem to shut with a tight seal. The house is spacious and plenty parking right outside. Central location. Comfy beds. It is a lovely house but just feel some things are being overlooked by cleaners and owners should perhaps look at sprucing it up here and there.

“The property was beautiful and facilities fantastic.”

Location is perfect and we will love to return! The bathrooms all have very powerful showers and there was everything you could need in the house. On road parking is easy around the area and beds very comfy! Unfortunately a couple of sour notes that tarnished the start and end to the holiday that I would like to note. On arrival the cot was nowhere to be found even though it was requested beforehand. We had a long journey and I had to read the house guide to find the cot and build it with a very tired baby. The high chair which was also requested was filthy and had to be thoroughly cleaned before it could be used. As stated in your guide the twin beds would be made as a king unless otherwise requested. These were left as two singles so had to be pushed together and used like this without the proper bedding for the week. On departure we spent time and care making sure all beds were stripped, washed up and emptied all bins etc as requested. With a baby and dog it takes time and at exactly 10am your cleaner barged through the front door with no introduction and was extremely rude. She left the front door and lounge door wide open and when asked if she could close it so we could safely take our dog out to the car on a lead, she replied she was too busy and was getting started. She then blocked the front door with her bags and made it very difficult to carry my baby out through the door. We asked her for 30 seconds to walk out with our last things and had a very rude comment in return. This left us feeling very sad at the end of our holiday and wished we hadn’t taken the due care to leave the house in an extremely neat and tidy condition. We will hope to return to Stanegarth for the beautiful conditions of the property but are disappointed with these points.

“This was a very well appointed property.”

Spacious. Quality fixtures and fittings. Loved the 2 lounges, the kids enjoyed the games upstairs and sat there at night. The duvets were very warm, could do with a lighter weight duvet but this is really nit picking. One kitchen blind fell down when we were there. Contacted Lakelovers who said would get someone out but I said just to leave it till the day we were leaving. Think the neighbours use the waste bin for themselves as was full a few days after it was emptied and the bags were not ours. This is in no way a criticism of the property, just more so you are aware. Close to town centre so handy for evening meals. Loads of walks from front door. Would absolutely come back to this property. We loved it.

“We have just returned from Stanegarth.”

We had a wonderful week in this property. It was lovely and clean, well equipped and the situation was great. It was plenty big enough for the 6 adults and 1 baby & dog in our group. There was plenty of hot water and heating if needed. Although there was no allocated parking, we had no trouble at all parking the 3 cars in our party. A great house that we would definitely stay in again. Note to owner or whoever: The 2 vacuum cleaners were not up to the job. We always like to hoover through during our holiday and on leaving but were left frustrated with the vacuums supplied. Our only complaint!

“Lovely. Clean.”

Central. Really enjoyed our stay at Stanegarth. The pictures that looked lovely were accurate! Very convenient. 5 minutes walk to centre of Keswick, and 2 mins walk to the Spar shop. Very clean. Lovely bath and shower rooms. TV room was a great bonus. Pricy but would definitely come again if we can still afford it. Points for improvement: 1. We would have appreciated an alternative to 13.5 tog duvets - great for winter but not a warm September. 2. The automatic bin lid was broken.

“The cottage was clean, tidy and well appointed.”

The TV/ games room was brilliant and gave us the opportunity to spread out in the evenings and undertake different activities. The hot water system requires tweaking in order to facilitate evening showers for six persons!! Parking in Keswick is always going to be difficult in peak season. We were only able to park outside the cottage on one occasion!

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre.
