    “This is the second time that we have stopped at Little Mell Fell and our experiences could not be further apart.”

    Unfortunately, on this occasion, Little Mell Fell did not come anywhere close to our previous experience. Firstly, the back of the property was used as a 'cut through' for farm vehicles and we were regularly getting woken up around 6am with vehicles going by. Secondly, the beds are no where near as comfy as the were previously. You can feel the springs through the mattress. They were so bad that one of our party ended up sleeping on the sofas up stairs. Prior to leaving we informed the ...

    Unfortunately, on this occasion, Little Mell Fell did not come anywhere close to our previous experience. Firstly, the back of the property was used as a 'cut through' for farm vehicles and we were regularly getting woken up around 6am with vehicles going by. Secondly, the beds are no where near as comfy as the were previously. You can feel the springs through the mattress. They were so bad that one of our party ended up sleeping on the sofas up stairs. Prior to leaving we informed the reception that we had heard scratching noises in the loft at night. At the point we didn't think anything more of it. When we got home, we found mice droppings in our children's cases (they had been left open on their bedroom floor) and some of their clothes had been nibbled. We contact Ullswater Holiday Park to inform them, they answered immediately asking for proof that this has happened. We hasn't requested anything, we were just informing them and we were treated as if we were lying. We were asked to send before and after photos of the damage to clothing and evidence that mice had been in our children's suitcase. When we responded, they then failed to reply. Our overall summary - if you want to be woken up at 6am and have your clothing nibbled by mice, this is the place for you!

    Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your recent stay did not meet the expectations set by your previous visit. To clarify, our team does not begin work until 7 a.m., and farm vehicles in the surrounding area do not operate before 8 a.m. We have also reviewed our CCTV footage and can confirm that no vehicles passed through the area behind the cottage during the times mentioned. Regarding the beds, they are the same ones that were in place during your last stay, and we have not received similar feedback from other guests. That said, comfort can be subjective, and we will continue to monitor this closely. With regard to the concerns about possible mice activity, we asked for photo evidence so that we could carry out a thorough investigation. No images were provided, and when our team inspected the property after your departure, they found no signs of droppings or damage. Our cleaners also confirmed there was no evidence of mice, and subsequent guests have stayed in the property without reporting any issues of this nature. In situations like this, photos are essential for us to take appropriate action. We always encourage guests to report any issues during their stay so we can address them promptly. Please be assured that we remain committed to providing a clean, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all visitors, and we will continue to keep a close eye on the matters you have raised. Watermillock is a delightful group of stone-built cottages, offering off-road parking, pet-friendly accommodation, and a range of sleeping arrangements. Resting in Watermillock, near Pooley Bridge, these properties are ideal for a family, friends, and their four-legged family members. These properties are tastefully outfitted to cater to all of your needs, and benefit from an on-site shop, café, and fish and chip shop. If you can tear yourself away from these gorgeous dwellings, take time to explore your local area by paying a visit to the Brackenrigg Inn for some traditional pub fare, or try the Rampsbeck Restaurant if you don’t fancy cooking one evening. A short drive north along Ullswater will bring you to Pooley Bridge, where visitors can spend time roaming the grounds of Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens before stopping by the Pooley Bridge Inn for a cold pint. A brief drive in the opposite direction will take you to Glenridding, home to the Ullswater Steamers cruise agency that offers tours along the serene waters of Ullswater, where you can also find a variety of watersports activities to try out. Further amenities can be found at Penrith, and here there is also a golf course, museum, independent stores, and Brougham Castle. More sites to visit include Shap Abbey and Castlerigg Stone Circle, and there are many more walks and mountain biking trails, for example trails at Scafell Pike, Helvellyn, and Fairfield Peak. POOLEY BRIDGE

Penrith 6 miles.

The picturesque village of Pooley Bridge sits on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley came to be due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont, and the word Bridge was later added when a bridge, which is now 250 years old, was built over the river. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Pooley Bridge is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
