“My friends and I had a lovely stay at the bay tree the house was clean with large rooms and the beds are comfy.”

Easily accessible and 10 mins from A66. Shame around the fire doors being so loud when closed but it really didn’t bother us too much as we all had similar schedules. Ample parking for 4 cars and potentially a 5th if needed. Would recommend and stay again.

Thank you for your lovely review. We’re delighted to hear that you and your friends enjoyed your stay at Bay Tree and found the house clean, spacious, comfortable, and conveniently located. It's great to know the ample parking and easy access worked well for your group. We appreciate your feedback regarding the fire doors. As they are an important safety feature, they can sometimes close a little loudly, but we're pleased to hear it didn’t impact your stay too much. Thank you for recommending us, and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future. Property Owner

“Overall, we had a lovely stay at the bay tree.”

The only couple of niggles where we moved the settee from underneath the television so we could appreciate the view from the window and found that it hadn't been properly cleaned behind. A deep clean may be needed from time to time. Also the internal doors are very heavy and slam shut very loudly so we found this was an issue with a large group with different bed times or morning times, maybe provide some door wedges. Obviously if they are fire doors this isn't possible . We all enjoyed our stay and the children loved the snug room and the lights on the stairs where they made lots of videos. The welcome pack was also very much appreciated.

Thank you for your review and for choosing to stay at The Bay Tree! We're delighted to hear that you and your group had an enjoyable time, and that the children especially loved the snug room and the stair lights — it’s always wonderful to know our little touches help create fun memories. We're sorry to hear about the area behind the settee not being properly cleaned — we’ll certainly pass this on to our housekeeping team. Regarding the internal doors, we completely understand how the noise could be disruptive, especially with a large group on different schedules. The doors are indeed fire doors, which are required by law for safety reasons, and unfortunately, this does mean they are heavier and self-closing. While we’re limited in how we can modify them, we’ll explore any safe and compliant options to help reduce the impact of the noise. Thank you again for your kind words about the welcome pack — we love making our guests feel at home. We hope to welcome you back again soon! Property Owner

“Excellent property!”

Spacious, well equipped and nicely decorated. I hadn’t appreciated that it was within the holiday park. This however wasn’t an issue. There was very little noise and we had use of the play park, shop, cafe if wanted. There is also use of the near by marina which was perfect for paddle boarding from! We’ll definitely be back!

Watermillock Cottages

Watermillock is a delightful group of stone-built cottages, offering off-road parking, pet-friendly accommodation, and a range of sleeping arrangements. Resting in Watermillock, near Pooley Bridge, these properties are ideal for a family, friends, and their four-legged family members. These properties are tastefully outfitted to cater to all of your needs, and benefit from an on-site shop, café, and fish and chip shop. If you can tear yourself away from these gorgeous dwellings, take time to explore your local area by paying a visit to the Brackenrigg Inn for some traditional pub fare, or try the Rampsbeck Restaurant if you don’t fancy cooking one evening. A short drive north along Ullswater will bring you to Pooley Bridge, where visitors can spend time roaming the grounds of Dalemain Mansion & Historic Gardens before stopping by the Pooley Bridge Inn for a cold pint. A brief drive in the opposite direction will take you to Glenridding, home to the Ullswater Steamers cruise agency that offers tours along the serene waters of Ullswater, where you can also find a variety of watersports activities to try out. Further amenities can be found at Penrith, and here there is also a golf course, museum, independent stores, and Brougham Castle. About the location

WATERMILLOCK

Pooley Bridge 2.5 miles; Glenridding 6.2 miles; Penrith 8.5 miles.

The elevated scattered village of Watermillock runs parallel to the main road alongside Ullswater Lake and is mainly a farming community. Just 2.5 miles away is Pooley Bridge with its array of amenities which sits on the northern shore of the lake in the Lake District National Park. The name Pooley originated due to the forming of a large pool, which was left by the fast flowing River Eamont. Pooley Bridge has many traditional inns and tempting tea rooms, plus the Ullswater Steamers depart from the village, from where a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown can be enjoyed. Glenridding (meaning glen overgrown with bracken) is a small tourist village with a range of local shops, cafes and restaurants. There are numerous walks with breathtaking views nearby, plus a short walk up to Dunmallard Hill reveals fascinating Iron-Age remains, whilst the towns of Penrith and Keswick are within driving distance. Watermillock is an ideal base for a cottage holiday stay in the stunning Lake District.
