Swinside Lodge

Fantastic property for a large family celebration, kitchen diner particularly good where we could all sit, chat, eat and drink in comfort.

Three things need attention/rectifying: Double bedroom shower on second floor , water not draining away properly Curtain in Peter Rabbit room not working properly ( cleaner confirmed not right ) Nowhere to dry clothes washed in washing machine

The games room windows did not have child locks and our 10 year old opened them!

, It was very hot during our stay and umbrellas would have been appreciated out on the patio. We would have preferred a conventional oven as we found the aga challenging. No need for all those cushions on the beds. The house layout and gardens were good for us. We enjoyed walking down to the lakeside with kayaks and swimming in the lake. Also walking to Lingholm and up the cat bells. The availability of the launch was good too. It was a very enjoyable holiday stay.

Lovely large house in a fantastic location with lots of walks from the door to fells and Derwent water.

Large kitchen/diner/living room onto garden is a great space. Having all ensuite rooms and lots of space is great for a large intergenerational party. Large garden is perfect for energetic children and with lovely views is also good for sitting out and watching tiny people on Catcalls. Wifi can be intermittent and one of the ensuites had a very hot towel rail but other than that it was ideal.

The house and area were superb for our family holiday.

Just one small thing.

The water pressure and temperature on the top floor wasn't very good. Ut was like warm. But we had a brilliant time and the house was beautiful. Thank you

An ideal location and beautiful setting for our groups stay in the Lakes The Lodge (Old Hotel) was a wonderful venue and offered us a place to relax and unwind after a hard day in the hills.

The space and comfort afforded by this property made the holiday break a really memorable experience for all involved

Brilliant property providing everything one could need.

Great location and garden enjoyed by the children. WiFi is poor in Lake district. and we had to go to cafe in Keswick to sort work emails. Ovens in Aga varied in temperature each day. Taking an oven thermometer would have helped. The weather was better in Lake District in the week we were there than the rest of the country!! Had a great holiday with three generations of family.

The house and was very large, clean and well equipped.

It's location was also hard to beat, being placed right at the foot of Catbells. We are a walking party of 12 that have been renting such properties for the past 25 years. We had few complaints, but as is often the case with such a large houses, there were a few "niggles" that need attention. We do our own catering and the Aga took a couple of days to reach temperature. This was a real pain for the chefs. The showers needed pumps and several were just a trickle, much of the time. The 4g provided Internet and supporting internal network was intermittent, to say the least! It disappeared completely for the last 3 days. There is some mobile reception on the top floor, but the solution needs a reliable multi-Sim upgrade or satellite solution, to match the premium price paid. Overall though we would definitely return. We booked the accommodation for a family visit to celebrate an 80th birthday.

The house is beautiful! So well styled, maintained and equipped. The photos don't do it enough justice - it's absolutely stunning and perfect for large parties. We took full advantage of the beautiful surroundings and took to the local walks. The kitchen and dining area were fabulous and the bedrooms were superb. We had an absolutely fabulous weekend - thank you so much!

Fabulous house in a brilliant location on Derwent water with amazing views of fells including Cat Bells and family friendly walks and more challenging walks from the door.

We were a large family party of three generations from toddlers to grandparents and we all had a wonderful stay. Really comfortable bedrooms all ensuite so everyone was happy and lots of space for us all to spread out.. The very well-equipped large kitchen dining room with the incredibly long table made a great family space for everyone. The children really enjoyed the garden too. We'd love to come back. Just a couple of niggles - one of the dishwashers didn't work while we were there and one of the sofas at the dining table seemed to have a wobbly leg. We also never worked out how to make all three TVs work except for the one in the library room which the children used but we were too busy having fun to watch the others anyway! We didn't have any problems with the wifi on our phones and devices.

Swinside Lodge achieved our expectations and more, all 13 of my guests stated how comfortable and at home they felt almost immediately.

Lovely walks down to the Lake, swimming and paddle boarding, walks up Catbells .Sitting in the garden with evening drinks, preparing meals in the amazing fully equipped kitchen. Beautiful bedrooms,It was a perfect holiday, so relaxing.

We have had a really enjoyable stay helped by the clean and amazing accommodation.

Anyone wanting a house for a large party - book Swinside Lodge.

The facilities, comfort, everything was top notch. Thankyou - we would certainly book again with Sykes Holiday Cottages, large or small.

It took us ages to find the 'hidden drawer' in the kitchen that has loads of practical bits like scissors, bottle opener, and various other kitchen utensils.

Other than that, absolutely no complaints the house is amazing and we had such a good time!! :)

Wonderful house for a big group.

Perfect location at the base of Catbells and five mins walk from the lake. Really well set up kitchen with everything you could need to feed a crowd. Beds really comfortable. We'd definitely come back.
