    “Another lovely visit to Swinside.”

Predictably tidy and welcoming, lovely treats and really nice new bathroom. In my experience it is one of the few cottages that you never need to be anxious about what state it will be in, very important when you have driven a long way. A big thank you to Jo and Janette and I look forward to more trips next year.

The cottage is one of five former mill workers' cottages nestling on the outskirts of the hamlet of Stair, with the Swinside Inn only half a mile away and Braithwaite with its village shop and pubs only a couple of miles away.

The cottage has a light and airy feel and has been beautifully refurbished in a modern cottage style.

An ideal romantic retreat for two in any season. There is plenty to see and do - walk from the door for about a mile and a half to catch the launch in to Keswick, and the Newlands Valley Activity Centre is close by where any number of activities such as ghyll scrambling, kayaking, abseiling and pony trekking can be undertaken.

There is some of the best hill walking in the area, lake cruises, country rambles, golf, tennis and a whole host of visitor attractions that are open all year.

The picturesque surrounding scenery is a joy in any season with wonderful lake and mountain views to be enjoyed throughout the National Park. Accommodation: Front door entrance into light and airy open plan kitchen/lounge/dining room with open fire, Sky TV with Freeview channels, DVD, hi-fi, iPod dock and large bay window, and further doorway leading through to patio and landscaped shared gardens. The property has mostly fitted carpets throughout and electric storage heating.

Furnishings are of a modern country style and comfortable feel with co-ordinated neutral colours and pretty fabrics. Outside: The rear of the property has a gravelled sitting-out area with garden furniture and large shared gardens.

There is also a small area laid to grass at the entrance to the property.
