However we were much more aware on the second occasion that it is an apartment not a house, there being two properties in the building, and the noise from upstairs was intrusive, even though I don't believe the occupants were doing anything more than just walking around.
It may be that the ceiling between floors was insufficiently soundproofed when the restructure took place, but it is something we would need to consider before booking again, along with the fact that the patio area is closely ...

It's a lovely place to have a break, but maybe better if upstairs isn't occupied.

It is true that you can be aware of sounds from upstairs and I think that will be difficult to eradicate completely.
Generally the upstairs flat is only used during school holidays and some weekends by a very nice unobtrusive young family. We tend to be out and about a lot whilst there so the impact is minimal.
Apologies if your stay was affected by this issue. We will have a look to see if we can mitigate the sound issue.
