Fantastic place so cosy with everything you need the hot tubs a great bonus as were the chocolates,wine and the view.

The hosts are lovely and friendly as is the dog and cat the kids loved them. We will definitely be going back for longer.

We visited Sonya's cottage for my sisters 60th Birthday, the cottage is beautiful and the views are spectacular, you can sit on the patio looking out on the estuary and watch the birds come and go, perfect location for visiting either the lakes or Scotland and the owners are lovely and friendly, i would highly recommend visiting and i would love to go back again.

Everything was perfect from the lovely welcome bottle of wine and box of chocolates to the very welcoming hot tub, 10/10

Lovely cottage with everything you need.

The hosts who live next door were friendly and informative and the surrounding area was beautiful. I even caught some flounders from the river over the road. We enjoyed the cottage so much that we have booked it for next year as well.

A beautiful cottage with the most stunning views.

The estuary was full of birds, a pleasure to watch. Phil and Naomi were so welcoming and helpful. The cottage had a very calming feel, living room was comfortable,, the bed and shower were heaven. Hope to be back in the spring.

Excellent for dark skies (no light pollution). If you want peace and quiet, it is the place to go. The owners of the cottage are very friendly and approachable, helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. Facilities in the cottage all comfortable, which all made for a very good holiday.

A little bit of heaven.

We lived our stay at the property. The location is stunning. Our hosts were warm and welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. It is a quiet relaxing haven with the oppurtunity to be out in the water all day. My grandchildren said it was the best place they had ever been.

The cottage is beautiful and we felt at home. A really peaceful setting that allowed us to unwind. The hosts Phil and Naomi were so friendly and very accommodating. We especially loved all the pets on the property from playing ball with Barney on the lawn, stroking Ayesha the cat and feeding all the guinea pigs. We would definitely stay again in the future.

....a very different place. This place was perfect for us...we wanted and needed a very quiet cottage with a bonus of over looking water- delivered. We spent most of our time reading and watching the ebb and flow of the water. We did find a few essentials missing eg hand towels, a measuring jug but nothing to really spoil our week. Can recommend

Probably the best cottage we have stayed in.

The view from the window is quite exceptional , with numerous waterfowl to spot and identify. Naomi and Phil are outstanding hosts and we hope to be back next year . It was hard to drag ourselves away!

What a wonderful cottage with a fabulous view with the Lake District mountains in the distance.

Sitting on the sunny south facing patio it was a joy to watch such a variety of wading birds and barn swallows. Lots to see and visit in the area. The cottage was beautifully clean and well furnished though I would have like a chair with arms due to mobility issues as the sittee was too low though I am told very comfy. Planning to return so it must be good!

Absolutely lovely.

We have never experienced a barn conversion holiday cottage. It was stunning and the view was amazing. The estuary was mesmerising as the tide came in and out. We saw swans swimming through along with a heron that kept visiting it as well. The only downfall was the sette that was very low sitting for me. I sat on the chair from the table. It would be nice to have a living room chair for those that that find it difficult to get up off the sette. That won’t prevent us from rebooking. It was a perfect holiday for us.

We had a fantastic few days with our two young children at Sonya’s cottage.

The cottage was clean and cosy. The beds were very comfortable. The location was fab, particularly if you’re looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful. The highlights were the hot tub which we made the most of and the views! It is only 30 minutes from Carlisle which has a beautiful Catherdral and some lovely cafes, shops etc. If staying with younger children we would also recommend a day trip to Walby Farm Park.

The owners are so welcoming . This is our second time staying here , the beds are so comfy , the cottage is spotlessly clean . The owners are on hand if you need them but they do not bother you, they views and walks are amazing, and after a long walk the hot tub was fantastic. Will definitely be back.

Just enough space, well equipped, quiet and peaceful but close enough to many things to fill our week. The hosts were perfect, around and friendly but not intrusive. Plenty of parking close to the cottage to pack and unpack. Showers were brilliant! Kids loved it, we loved it. Couldn't recommend enough.

Soyna’s cottage was clean, comfortable with lovely surroundings and the hosts were very friendly and made us very welcome and the weather was beautiful which made an enjoyable time spent in the hot tub, would highly recommend it.

We loved our short break at cosy and comfortable Sonya's Cottage which sits just next to the water in peaceful and beautiful surroundings filled with birdsong.

Our hosts and their dog and cat were friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed exploring the area by car which is ideal for walkers and cyclists too.

A lovely cottage let down by the very poor internet connection which was dropping in and out all the time.

The views are amazing, so peaceful. Ideal place for a lovely relaxing holiday. Owners are lovely, very helpful giving information on the local area. Hot Tub was lovely, very clean. Unfortunately l was unable to use it as l found it was quite slippy underfoot as you got in it, as l am recovering from a broken leg and knee replacement surgery l was rather hesitant to get in, however, my friend enjoyed it very much. All in all a lovely few days at Sonya's Cottage and will definitely recommend.

The cottage was lovely, extremely clean, comfortable and well presented.

Important things for us, fabulous showers, peace and quiet, amazing views and it was cosy and warm on the colder days and nights. Perfect.

I chose possibly the worst week for a walking holiday on the Solway coast: with Storm Isha and Storm Jocelyn leaving me only one day without gale-force winds and lashing rain, and two days in which it was unsafe to leave the cottage.

It was not a total disaster because this cottage was so comfortable to be stuck in. A genuinely well-equipped kitchen area (sharp knives!!), comfortable sofa, comfortable bed, a really good shower, in general things that were solid and didn't fall apart. I was impressed that neither the electricity nor the wifi was affected by the storms. One minor thing: as in almost all holiday cottages and B&Bs; I've stayed at, there wasn't enough light in the main room to read comfortably by. An Anglepoise or similar would have made all the difference.

..it was well presented, clean, with very nice view to the estuary, had all you need for stay....lovely friendly owners, who made an effort to put real xmas tree and lights to make it looks festive....also dog and cat who visited us every day. Village is very quite but plenty of pubs and cafes short drive away. 100% would recommend to stay...for ones who likes cycling it has cycling route in area...

Sonya's Cottage is lovely and comfortable, and a delight to stay there.

It is attached to the owners house but still feels private. Chances are you'll be greeted by Oscar the cat and Barney the dog before you meet anyone else. It's a peaceful place to stay and exactly what we wanted.

We had an amazing stay, would 100% recommend to others and will be definitely be returning in the future.

The owners were so welcoming and the wine and chocolates were a lovely treat. The cottage had loads of character with amazing views of the estuary and the fells in the background. Evenings were spent either paddle boarding on the estuary or relaxing in the hot tub after a long day walking in the lakes. We made some amazing memories on this holiday and was so pleased with our stay.

The view was beautiful and it was incredibly quiet and relaxing. I wish the view could have been seen more from the seating area inside the cottage. The welcome gift was a lovely touch. We had a lovely few days and have come home feeling very chilled.

They were very friendly, welcoming and helpful, especially when we all lost electricity on Wednesday.

This is clearly a continuing problem for their supply company, who had to instal a generator; not, apparently, for the first time.

Anthorn is quiet (we love peace & quiet) and out of the way, but stunning, the cottage beautiful and the property owners welcoming and helpful. Being disabled, we could not have wanted for more. Will certainly return to this corner of heaven. Thank you, Naomi & Phil.

Sonya's cottage is a beautiful property perfect for a quiet relaxing break.

Very well equipped kitchen with all you require to cater for all your needs. Comfy sofa and bed and spacious walk in shower. Location is super peaceful with virtually no traffic passing. Views lovely. On clear night's the stars are amazing sat in the hot tub which is a wonderful touch of luxury. Host are friendly and helpful. We aim to return in the future.

We were more than happy with the cottage and appreciated them putting up christmas decoration and a tree. you will go a long way to find a better view from the sitting room So thank you very much. We went to watch the birds but they had decided to move off somewhere else but that is something non of us have control of. Did find them across the other side of Solway Firth wonderful

This was my second visit to Sonya's Cottage which is in a delightful position, overlooking the Solway.

It is ideal for birdwatching at this time of year, with stunning views of thousands of waders and geese from the house and patio. The cottage is lovely, well furnished and very comfortable with a lovely hot tub. Naomi and Phil are very welcoming and helpful and I enjoyed our chats. I had a great week and have booked again for next year.

Good powerful showers too. Great for relaxing on patio or in hot tub. Cottage is quite warm so if you prefer it cooler might be best to take a fan with you. Plenty of close by places to eat.

Sonia's cottage was a really amazing place for a relaxing holiday.

Away from hustle and bustle of everyday lives. Also not to far to drive to Gretna Green the lake district and hadrians wall. Or just chill out in the hot tub and watch the wonderful wild life.

The only draw back for us was the stone floors throughout. They looked fabulous and are absolutely perfect for the style and age of the cottage, but, we are old folks and love the warmth and comfort of carpets !!!!!!!!!!!! We would of course come back but perhaps in the summer months when a cool floor would be welcome!!

I absolutely loved my stay at Sonya's Cottage - I didn't want to leave yesterday!

The cottage itself is warm, cosy, comfortable and characterful - in the most stunning location overlooking the Solway. I like birdwatching and it was the perfect setting from which to view the birds on the water's edge. Phil and Naomi were welcoming, friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to successfully resolve an issue with the WiFi. I had friends visiting during my stay and they were equally impressed with the cottage. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it others and I will definitely go back.

The cottage is so clean and cosy one of the best I have stayed in from sykes and I have stayed in a lot. The scenery is beautiful. And the hot tub is definitely the best out of any the properties that I have stayed in. I will be booking this property again without any hesitation.

The cottage was nice and warm when we arrived on a cold afternoon, and their welcome gifts were much appreciated. Lots to do and see in the local area, or you can just spend the time watching the ever-changing scene on the estuary - very relaxing!

The cottage is in a beautiful rural location over looking the Solway Firth. The area is peaceful and relaxing and a fantastic place to visit. The cottage was spotlessly clean, fantastically equipped and a wonderful place to spend a weeks holiday. The hosts were both delightful and made us feel so welcome. Any one thinking of booking this cottage would not be disappointed. The cottage is beautifully decorated to a high standard, the beds were super comfortable, and the shower was fantastically powerful. The hot tub was easy to use and we spent some pleasant evenings star gazing and bat spotting. Lots of lovely beaches in the area, and only a short drive into Scotland or a short trip into the Lake district and Hadrian's wall. A brilliant place to stay for the whole family.

You absolutely need a car to get around but it's a wonderful quiet place to relax and recharge your batteries. The owners of the cottage are extremely friendly and will offer advice and hints / tips if you ask them. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would love to revisit soon.

Absolutely brilliant time, chilling and relaxing is just what we had in mind and Sonia's cottage was definitely the place to be.

With the birds on the estuary the 100+ sheep running down the road and friendly passers by the whole experience was relaxed and homely. The cottage had everything we needed including very long skewers to toast our marshmallows on the fire pit. cosy comfortable and a real home from home.

We enjoyed our early morning visits from the dog! The cottage is comfortable and very well equipped. A great base to explore the surrounding area (which for us included a trip over the boarder into Scotland). We would definitely stay again if we return to the same area.

This cottage and location are both hidden gems!

Quite remote, no pubs, shops or beach nearby so not for everyone but for the likes of us, the peace and quiet, the fantastic view over the estuary and the walks round the nature reserves were just what we appreciate. We came home feeling re-charged and relaxed even though the weather was more wet than sunny. Never been to the area before but with the roman wall and the remains of the roman fort close by we enjoyed the history. The cottage is very comfortable and finished to a high standard and there is everything there you need for self catering. Due to the distance we had to go we just had one meal out at the pub but the hospitality and the food were spot on! Great holiday.

If you want to escape, this is the place to go, lovely local walks around the estuary, great local nature reserves and a stunning view over the estuary and the Lakes on a clear day. The cottage was warm, comfortable and clean, the owners Phil & Naomi were very welcoming and accommodating to any of our needs and their pet dog Mitzy was a hit with the kids. A lovely holiday, would strongly recommend it to anybody looking for the peaceful life.

We have just returned from a week spent at Sonia's Cottage and it was everything we could wish for - a beautiful property set in idyllic surroundings with fabulous views - the perfect place for a restful and relaxing break.

. The wine and chocolates were a lovely extra touch and were very much appreciated. Wigton was a short drive away and had a good range of shops and a few cafes. Penrith and Carlisle were also within an half hour's drive. Brilliant!

Fantastic cottage and hot tub was lovely to come back to at the end of the day particularly as we were a bit unlucky with the weather.

The cottage is well equipped. The owners Phil and Naomi live next door and could not be more friendly and helpful. We had a minor plumbing issue during our stay and it was sorted immediately. We did a lovely 12 mile loop cycle ride via Bowness on Solway and made some trips by car to the North Lakes. There are some lovely views from the cottage over the river. Overall a very relaxing stay.

A beautiful location and cosy cottage.

The owners were so welcoming, a handy little guide to things to do was inside the cottage was very useful and Carlisle is only half hour drive where loads to see and do. hot tub was added bonus and my 13yr old niece enjoyed playing on the zip wire at the rear of the cottage. Lovely relaxing week away from it all. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for some down time away from it all. PS this cottage has the best walk in shower I’ve ever used!

Lovely lovely cottage in a great location, we wanted a relaxing week away with the kids visiting places around Cumbria and that’s what we got, the cottage itself is of a very high standard, nice and clean with everything we needed.

Lots of places to visit within an hours drive. Only thing that could make this place better is a log burner just to add to the cottages already homely feel. Would also recommend a restaurant call Ye old greyhound about 30-40 min drive from the cottage but well worth the drive, food and service were amazing

Loved everything about it, the additional advantage of the washing machine ensured we didn't have the usual day of washing etc when arriving back home was a huge bonus, loved the hot tub after a lot of walking during the day.

I would recommend reviewing the directions from the M6. we did not use a satnav and got lost trying to carry out the instructions of 9.75 miles .!! It would help if it was mentioned to turn right signposted Anthorn. But saying that we had a very enjoyable week and would thoroughly recommend Sonyas cottage .

An amazing cottage set on a tidal estuary.

The tide comes in twice a day an the estuary changes with the tide. Great for bird enthusiasts or if you just want to sit and chill and take in the virw. The cottage itself is clean and finished to a high standard. Beds and sofas very comfortable. We would recomend this cottage to anyone looking to get away for a quiet break.

A well equipped, clean and spacious cottage.

We had everything we needed to hand for an enjoyable holiday. Loved the hot tub, beautiful views, lovely countryside. So peaceful and hosts were very welcoming and helpful and made a fuss of the children. They loved kayaking on the Solway, a new experience! Great shower in wet room. Well placed location to explore the Lake district and RSPB sites.

If we are to go for a holiday in the Lakes again then we would certainly look to book Sonya's Cottage, the owners have thought of and provided everything you could wish for on your stay, from decent pans to cook with to candles for sitting outside.

This cottage is a home from home for holiday makers and the owners (who live next door) are friendly and happy to help be it suggestions on where to eat or queries about the cottage. Stunning quiet location, perfect place to get away from it all and relax.
