Beautiful relaxing dog friendly location The suite is a beautiful, peaceful place.

It was lovely and clean with great facilities. The wooded area was perfect for a walk and my dog loved running around the dog run. Great location hidden out the way, perfect for a relaxing week away with my dog. Places to visit were a 10 minute drive so its great place if you want to go out and about or stay in and relax. Lovely friendly hosts, I'd definitely stay again and I've already recommended it to family and friends.

The location is peaceful and beautiful, perfect for exploring the southern Lake District. The suite was clean, comfortable, and very convenient with a dog, with great walks nearby. It truly felt like a relaxing escape, we’d happily return!

Beautiful cottage in a beautiful area.

Safe and secure for our dog with a private short walk through woods on the land. One drawback for us- a couple in our late 60s- was that the bedroom was small and bed set in the corner so you couldn’t access the bed from both sides and it was difficult to get into bed. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.

Our break was from Friday until Monday August B holiday weekend.

The reading suite was clean and tidy on arrival with an enclosed gravelled garden area which is excellent for our fur baby. Also on site, is communal patio areas to sit and enjoy the sun and views, there is a small woodland walk with a doggy run pen enclosure inside.. lots of walks from your location which are in the property information book “its very good and informative “

The property had ample room for 2 adults and one dog.

It had all the necessary facilities needed for our stay. With the private garden aswell. There were plenty cooking utensils and appliances if needed. Information on things to do. My only suggestion would be is that they have two tub chairs, which I think is fine in the summer months as we spent most of our time outside. But come winter months and maybe your in the room for longer. They could get quite uncomfortable. So I think a small two seater would be better. Apart from that it's perfect. We will definitely be back in the future.

so clean and well kept. probably best cleaned and kept we have stayed in. Well renovated with clearly good builders and eye for design to maximise what needed to be put in. The only thing we struggled with was the lighting in bedroom , the main light didn't work and the bedside light was too dim to dry hair in the light. Very snug, Hubie struggled to get out of bed as it was up against the wall and we are older with arthritis. Moving forwards I would swap the two lounge chairs for one small similar two seat sofa as not comfortable to sit in for long periods. As we only sat down for an hour each night we could cope with it. I would put a larger outside table outside so people can eat or read a paper as it was tiny and you couldn't spread out which is what you want to do on holiday, chill, eat out and take time. We loved the area and the people around us were lovely. Fab location. well done to the owners well renovated to subsidise their farmers income. we loved hearing the animals and birds, fab def go back again at some point, thanks all Wendy.

Lovely location, off the beaten track, really quiet and peaceful.

Kitchen had all the facilities we would need or expect, and the shower was lovely. The owners have clearly tried to maximise the most out of a small space, however, only having 2 bucket chairs instead of a cosy 2 seater sofa is very uncomfortable after a long day of walking. The reviews did mention this multiple times, but I assumed the chairs would be comfortable in place of a sofa. They are not. The shower room is well fitted, but tiny, and hard to manoeuvre around in due to its size. Maybe if we'd just stayed for the weekend, this would have all been fine, but after a week's stay, my back was aching and I was ready for home! It's a shame, as it really is a wonderful place, and maybe if we'd stayed in one of the largest apartments on site, it would have been better, but this suite is only suitable for short stays. Advice to the owner - listen to the reviews and replace the bucket chairs!

Wonderful friendly hosts, the Suite is modern with all amenities you'd require for a short break.

Conveniently situated for Coniston and Windermere, lots of nearby walks and places to visit nearby. Definitely would have no hesitation to book again when visiting the lakes.

Really lovely stay and great location - apartment was very very dog friendly.

Kitchen was fully equipped and bathroom was good. Our only feedback would be the chairs should be a sofa otherwise would highly recommend.

The Suite is one of a few cottages on site and in a beautiful location.

The suite is small but was perfect for our needs as we spend our time out walking, The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding. The walk in shower was great, Luxury towels were provided . Spotlessly clean, kitchen was well equipped and had everything we required. Nice private area outside so our dog could get some air. There was a walking area in a small wood that you could exercise your dog off the lead which is a great idea. The surrounding area is beautiful and quiet with lots of birdsong to listen to and cows and sheep in the fields adjacent the cottage to go and see. There are walks from the cottages. We would thoroughly recommend the pub The Anglers arms we ate there a lot the food was fabulous and the Sunday dinner was delicious. It’s not far from the Suite. The host Mark kept in touch during our stay and gave us lots of very useful information about the surrounding area. We would definitely return to the Suite for a short break without hesitation but would probably book a bigger cottage for longer breaks as I would like a bath to soak in after our long walks. We couldn’t write in the visitors book as we didn’t have a pen with us which was a shame.

The Suite is small, but charming, and more comfortable and with better facilities than some larger cottages we have rented in the past.

Quite big enough for a couple and a medium-sized dog. There is a separate bedroom and the bed is king-size with a very good mattress and good bedlinen. One reviewer mentioned that the bathroom is small - it is, but more than adequate for us (and we are not sylphs!). The shower cubicle itself is a good size with plenty of room and the towels are good quality: soft, thick and large. We had wonderful weather, but it was chilly overnight, so we put on the heating for a short time in the morning and it responded immediately, so that the bathroom and the towel rail were warm within a few minutes. The suite gave on to its own small gated courtyard, but the grounds, to which we had access, were extensive and beautifully kept, including outside seating and a wooded area at the top where there is a small, secure, enclosed area for off-lead dogs. We can't recommend this property highly enough - from the impeccably kept grounds to the cleanliness and comfort of The Suite, not forgetting Mark, who was so helpful

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived the property was easy to find and well equipped, the enclosed small courtyard was a blessing for our Patterdale but the wire mesh on the gates needs to be raised to make it completely secure bearing in mind it borders a road, the tub style seats are not comfortable at all and despite being mentioned in the visitor book as far back as 2022 it has not been acted on, I took a wine glass out of the cupboard that clearly had not been cleaned in sometime, the toilet/ shower room is a tight fit but adequate for a short stay, there is no view other than that of a stone wall which is a shame in such a pretty place, the walk through the woods to the dog enclosure is pleasant, and I can imagine on a hot summer's day ideal.

We have stayed in many self catering cottages over the years but this is the very first place we did not meet the owners or one of their staff ( we stayed 4 nights ) it seemed a bit automated,pick the key up from the key safe and return it there on leaving the property, the property is a short drive from most places of interest and its nice and peaceful once settling down on a evening. Overall we were happy but would not stay again mainly due to our ages and the complete lack of any type of view.

I found this a great location for the southern Lakes.

It had everything I needed. It is in a beautiful quiet location, with lots of nature surrounding it, perfect for walking. I would definitely recommend a stay here. I will be back too. Thank you Mark and Louise.

So peaceful. Enjoyed walking round the woodland, so did the dog. Room for parking. Would highly recommend a visit, will definitely be booking again.

Beautiful setting surrounded by nature.

Loved the neighbouring farm animals and birds song. The views are amazing as you drive down Lanes End and the cottage is situated ideally for Windermere. Mark is very friendly and helpful and the cottage is spotless and peaceful with everything you need. We would definitely return.

We had a great long weekend stay here.

The owner was very helpful and friendly. The cottage is in a very quiet spot but still close enough to everything you need. We would agree with other reviews that the chairs in the lounge area are very uncomfortable and the cottage was very small - some of the photos were taken from a very generous angle. This means that we probably wouldn't book a longer stay in this particular cottage but we would definitely try one of the others on the same site. It was very dog friendly with an enclosed yard and a dog exercise area nearby. We also definitely recommend the Anglers Arms in Haverthwaite which was also very dog friendly and served excellent food. If like us you just need a small place to stay for a weekend this is perfect.

Very well thought out little suite.

Very clean and good use of the limited space. As the description says this is a small cottage, just a kitchen/diner, bedroom and shower room, but it all works, nothing is missing, well decorated with modern, well maintained appliances. Great for the dog. Good location for visiting this corner of the Lakes. My only small suggestion…it would nice to have a soft lighting option in the kitchen/diner, a small lamp perhaps.

The cottage was just right for a lovely relaxing stay.

The only fault we had was we would of preferred a 2 sester couch instead of the chairs. The dog enjoyed the little woodland walk and garden. We would certainly stay again

We loved our stay at Abbotts Reading suite, it was very well equipped for all your needs for your stay away, lovely and clean and was ideal for dogs, the outside space was very secure and we will definitely visit again.

The area was very quiet and very relaxing but wasn’t far from shops and dining out.

The location of this cottage is fantastic, check in and out instructions were spot on and very clear.

We found that it wasnt the comfiest place to relax in the evening as there are only 2 small arm chairs but was absolutly brilliant for a shorter weekend stay

The owner was lovely and polite, also quickly fixed the broken light for us. Only down side was the bed for me, but maybe I'm fussy aha.

Great cosy stay in the suite, not far from great walks and drives to other towns, suite has its own enclosed area so great for Skye to have a roam around, if you do have a four legged friend with you excellent mini wood walk on site for toileting and even better if your dog is anything like ours a mud monster they have a doggy shower outside with hot water :) very clean and modern suite with just what you need for a short stay, mark was great with communication prior to arriving and great info emailed with local places to go and eat definatley stay here again thanks for a wonderful stay.

Lovely modern, albeit Bijou accommodation ideal for couples looking for peace and quiet in a lovely part of the lakes away from the crowds.

Lovely setting.

Compact but well designed cottage. Met our needs as a couple with a small dog. Ideal as a base for exploring and walking in the Southern Lakes. Basic kitchen equipment provided- a bit limiting if you want to cook from scratch. More comfortable seating would be welcomed.

We really enjoyed our stay.

It is a cosy compact cottage..excellent for dog owners with its own little courtyard and a wooded area at the back, with a walk also from the farm on to Haverthwaite heights. The only downside are the 2 uncomfortable chairs which were not suitable After a day out in the lakes

We thoroughly enjoyed our week spent here and having our own little courtyard was a bonus. Straight out of the door and onto some amazing walks is definitely a selling point when you have a dog. Will certainly be back again, loved it.

Perfect break in great setting

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cozy cottage, realised due to size 2 days stay was enough due to no lounge.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Suite.

It is small so probably best for shorter breaks - for us it was perfect for a few days away. The facilities are good and everything was perfectly clean. The setting is really idyllic - in a quiet part of the southern lakes but still beautiful and only a 20 minute drive from some big walks and busier towns. The private woodland area and dog pen were an added bonus!

Had a good few days & we were sorry to have to cut our visit short.

Cottage is in a lovely peaceful location ideal for walking and was well equipped - however as per a previous review, the chairs in the lounge were extremely uncomfortable for sitting for more than 10 mins and not ideal if you have been out all day walking.

The suite is perfect-the absolute biggest selling point is that it has its own courtyard where your dog can roam without escape

It was slightly smaller than I expected, and probably more suited to one person than two.

It served my purpose very well, but I was sleeping and eating then out all day. If I had spent more time at the place, I suspect the lack of space could have become more of an issue. If what you need is a good bed, a kitchen and a shower, in a decent location away from the crowds with good access to the southern lakes, then this is a great place.
