The cottage is lovely, well equipped and has more space than it looks from photos or even from outside. However, our experience of Lake Lovers was less than great. The cottage is lovely, well equipped and has more space than it looks from photos or even from outside. However, our experience of Lake Lovers was less than great. On arrival we realised the Hive thermostat wasn't connected to the boiler, so although we had hot water, there wasn't any heating. Each time we had a shower, the bathroom light pull-switch failed so either had no lighting or having to leave it on permanently! We reported the issues on Monday. Two maintenance guys visited, concluding that they needed to contact the owner re the Hive unit and call an electrician for the light. We asked them to lock up and put the key in the lock box when they left. We came back later in the day to an open house, key still in the door and no message about next steps.During our stay, there were several maintenance issues including no heating, a faulty bathroom light and a shower screen that detached from its hinges. Despite visits from maintenance personnel, these issues remained unresolved by the end of our stay. We also returned to find the property had been left unlocked following a maintenance visit.

Hi Tim, thank you so much for your feedback and for returning to Acorn Cottage. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and could enjoy some of the small updates. I am very sorry for the experience you had with Lakelovers and the issues you mentioned, this is not at all what you want when you’re trying to relax on holiday. I was informed about the hive unit not connecting to the boiler and I asked maintenance at the time to organise an engineer to come out ASAP, I am surprised to hear this had not happened during your stay and I will have to follow up with Lakelovers maintenance in regards to this, I have also asked them to replace the switch in the bathroom as well as fix or replace the hinges on the shower screen. Again I do apologise for the issues you encountered during your stay and the time spent trying to contact Lakelovers. In the guest book and on the wall beside the WiFi code I do provide my direct email which I monitor regularly should you be staying again and encounter any issues please feel free to contact me directly and I can liaise directly with Lakelovers to get whatever it is addressed. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday and I do hope we can welcome you back again. Kindest regards Property Owner

About the location

GRASMERE

Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.

Please note this property has a zip link bed. This will be made as a twin by default. Please contact the call center should you wish it to be a super king.
