The cottage was lovely and spacious with everything you could need for a self catering holiday.

Well stocked kitchen ie pans utensils and crockery. Very comfortable bed and large shower. Tucked away so nice and quiet but close enough to walk to the centre of Alston for supplies and a cheeky drink or two in the local pubs which were very welcoming. Easy walk by the river to see the waterfalls. Nice drive to neighbouring areas like Hexham , Haltwhistle and Brampton. Very nice touch from the owners leaving us some milk bread and biscuits, also a few tea bags and sugar.

A lovely welcoming cottage, set back from the main road, so very quiet and peaceful.

Only noise was the floorboards of upstairs neighbour very noisy but wasn't too often. Very comfy bed, lovely equipped kitchen with some milk, bread and sweet treats left for us. The village itself is nice, but very steep for walking, so not so good for the less mobile. Great Cobbles Cafe on the corner with lovely food and friendly staff. Would recommend for a peaceful break.

Property was really nice apart from the bed it’s too small my wife and me are 6ft could do with a king size Area was run down and miles away from anywhere

A nice house right in the centre of Alston, location was spot on for us.

It was clean and well presented and we found everything worked and the kitchen was well equipped. Our only issues were that the sofa is past its best and too soft to sit in after a while. Also the wet room stays wet all of the time and towels stay damp. It needs a heating element in the bathroom radiator for when the heating is off. It’s quite annoying if your there for a few days but I would still recommend it for a short break.

I wouldn’t recommend tibia if you wanted a quiet week as I think an elephant lives upstairs,avoid

The apartment was brilliant everything you needed and lovely welcome pack unfortunately we had to leave 3 nights early as couldn’t stand the herd of elephants upstairs any longer he had all his mates round Friday night for the boxing at 3am and his 5 kids Saturday we had no peace so decided to leave which is a shame we will return if he ever moves out

Everything you need for a stay . Alston is perfect very close to all amenities and walks. Definitely recommend.

We had a lovely week at Stable View.

The weather was lovely which was a bonus. The cottage had everything we needed, including milk, bread and coffee to start us off. We wouldn’t hesitate to book again if we come up that way.

The property was clean and tidy and had everything we needed.

The car parking is a little tight when people park behind but other than that it was a lovely stay.

The cottage was clean and homely.

The people was lovely and friendly, the pub the Turks head was a good price and a a friendly, and the Cumberland pub did lovely food. Would recommend the cottage and the area.

Possibly not everyone’s cup of tea as the lanes are very tight but parking available on site which is extremely useful in Alston. Will be back

We had a great stay at this accommodation.

It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The WiFi was good and there was constant hot water for the shower, etc. The accommodation is in a great location, 2 minutes from the town but also for exploring the wider area. We had no issues with the parking (although it would be tight for those with a big vehicle). Would definitely return here if we were coming back to the area.

Lovely comfortable property located in scenic area.

Close to all amenities and very friendly people.

We found parking a little difficult, as the parking area is tapered, narrowing at the entry point, added to which, a vehicle parked outside the cottage opposite made access a little awkward.

We do have a perhaps slightly larger car than the norm (Volvo XC40), which, combined with the Mercedes owned by the other party to the shared parking space, made entering/exiting a little tricky

First cottage break for us and you've really made us happy, our little dog had a fantastic time too.

Location is fantastic, straight out of the cottage and into a wonderful country walk. Your property is beautifully presented, clean and well equipped. Thanks for everything.

The property is in a cobbled area off the central market place.

A narrow street leads down to the property, with parking space outside the property (a narrow space - our car got scratched by neighbour`s car reversing in!) The apartment is well furnished, with comfortable sofa and armchairs in the spacious living area, curtains and cushions, dining table and chairs, well equipped kitchen, also good storage and wardrobe space in the bedroom which we liked, hairdryer present, good shower. Good idea to have a selection of books and puzzles/games as well. We had bread and milk (and Thorntons squares) left for us as a welcome, which was appreciated, thank you. A cafetiere or coffee maker would be a good addition to the kitchen for those who like fresh coffee (after all, there is a coffee picture on the wall!). In summer, and with some fresh plants/flowers, the outdoor area in the inner courtyard may also be of appeal but with the location does not get the sun. Great local walks, in any weather.

Love this cottage, a home from home with everything we need and always very clean.

Only a minute away from the town and yet a minute away from beautiful country walks - just perfect.

We had a lovely time at The Stables.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and spacious and having a parking spot is a bonus. All the snow came down whilst stopping and the owners kept in contact to ensure we were okay and give advice about the roads etc.. Alston itself has everything you need and there's plenty of exploring to do. I would recommend this cottage. I would like to come back (without the snow) to further explore the area.

This single story ground floor flat for 2 people was ideally situated just out of Alston Town Centre.

It was spacious, comfortable, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Small touches such as a welcome pack and Christmas Tree/Decorations (we visited in December) were a welcome surprise. Alston is a lovely old town, well situated for touring a variety of destinations in East Cumbria, South Northumberland and North West Durham. We visit Alston most years and would not hesitate to book again.

This was my second visit to this warm and cosy apartment in centre of the historic small town of Alston.

Although it is not a very big apartment, all of the rooms are a good size. Only one minute walk to the Market Square and shops. If you are not familiar with the location, maybe it would be a good idea to park at the Market Square and find The Stables on foot as the surrounding streets are very narrow.

We had a lovely week , cottage so comfortable and welcoming .

In a great location love the name the Butts , so full of history . Only one issue , not a complaint could just be timing , shower turned from hot to cold suddenly , then water pressure dropped daily . Would not stop another visit .

We had a lovely week the property was only let down by the sofa’s.

Even though we aren’t old or have medical issues they were just to low which made them hard to get up from and uncomfortable to sit for a period of time. We would definitely return to the property if this was sorted as everything else was fabulous.

bathroom,kitchen perfect for our needs. lounge settees to low and drab,curtains defeat the object of long radiator by blocking out heat (far to long) and dead plant not a inviting look. The noise from upstairs is ofputting we appreciate they are a young family but a peaceful holiday it was not. As a couple in our eighties the Parking was an issue.within a few hour of arrival we were blocked in. it took my grandson 15 min to reverse out of parking spot. when we returned it was impossible to re park our car. ,luckily a local resident came to our help and asked the person from Gilmore house to move his car. This he did he also stated that the place were he parked came as a private parking space with the property he was renting.This issue needs sorting out. He was very concerned that as my husband is disabled he kindly offered to park on the high st for the rest of his stay,he also called the next day to say he was sorry for inconvenience he had caused .

Our second stay at The Stables was a lovely as the first a year previously.

A really comfortable and well-sized property that's perfect for a couple (and a dog). Lovely welcome pack and the Christmas decorations made it very cosy. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

Very clean and comfortable. A little tricky to find but we got there ok. Shame the weather wasn’t better for us but nothing anyone can do about that. Beautiful location.

The courtyard was not very welcoming, and the two sofas were so uncomfortable, but everything else was fine.

Neither property or Alston suitable for us I'm afraid, we decided to cut our holiday short and come home after 4 days.

We're seniors (50s/60s) with the aches, pains and mobility issues which comes with older age so the sofas were out of bounds as you are practically sitting on the floor, we ended up moving the little table into the middle of the room and sitting on dining chairs. The kitchen pictures show shelving on the walls but they aren't there anymore, crockery and glassware tucked away in a bottom cupboard hard to bend down to. The shower isn't powerful and the outside space is not inviting, a tiny concrete square between buildings at the back which means a 360 view of brick walls. Similarly, the view from the living room is also of a large brick wall and the upstairs tenants car which is parked a foot away from the living room window when he's in. Alston has several independent shops, a post office, a Co-op and a handful of pubs/eateries. Recommend Alston House, food & drink was great. Don't recommend the 'take-away' pizza was awful. Drove to Penrith one afternoon, travel time 30-40 minutes over the hills with wonderful views. We wanted to be much closer to the Lakes/larger town/decent views but the blame for not getting that in Alston is all ours as we didn't carry out the appropriate amount of research needed to source it. This was a lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay.

The only remark I would make is that the cottage is quite difficult to locate when you first arrive so maybe give your customers a little more further instructions before arrival.

A really lovely homely cottage, it has everything you would need for a really comfortable stay, a lovely picturesque village, fantastic walks by the river for our dog.

Would definitely go back again.

Parking space is great , albeit a car parked outside Kings cottage opposite meant having to reverse out very carefully.

The owners gave us directions to the property and checked everything was ok.

Spacious cottage in Alston within easy access of various walks and the Steam Railway. Good base for visiting High and Low Force at Bowlees and Ashgill Force. We also visited Durham Cathedral about 1 hour away. We were lucky with the weather and had a brilliant time!

The only thing that spoiled the stay was the occupants above (who sounded like elephants stomping about) other than that everything was excellent

Perfect place for us and our small dog!

It was amazing and comfortable. Had a warm lovely welcoming feeling. Would definitely recommend and be going back. One thing I would say is we struggles to find the apartment as it’s tucked away off a main road and the parking but other than that it was perfect!!!

The cottage was amazing exactly like the photos.

I would highly recommend for family and friends to stay there. The flush in the toilet was a bit dodgy and it would constantly run the tank water into the bowl which became a problem during the night while trying to sleep even with the doors closed. I managed to fix it and then we had no problems. I moped up some water I had spilt in the living room and the tissue was really dirty. I'm not sure how, but the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom was immaculate. I had an amazing time and hope to stay here again in the future. Hannah

It is much bigger than the impression given by the photos online. The property is in an ideal location and is very homely and welcoming. Spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. Highly recommended.

A nice spacious comfortable house. Wonderful countryside with spectacularly views in all direction. If we are back that way we will certainly try and book the same house again.

Excellent cottage with everything you need for a wonderful stay, only one bit of feedback and it’s really not a complaint one of the reasons we booked is because we thought it had a king size bed it doesn’t but the bed is very comfortable.
