“Directions to property spot on and good parking in drive.”

The property only has the one door on the side and a gate into back garden. For our dog we blocked off the stairs with the bin and tied the gate to the railing, letting her go out into the garden on her own if she desired. The bungalow is lovely. There is a washing machine in the property although doesn’t state this on listing. A clothes line is also in garden for drying clothes. The property was extremely clean and we used all three bedrooms and we all slept well all week. The property has everything you could think of to use, from hairdryer to all kitchen utensils you can need. The house is only a five minute walk to the town but as others have said it’s down a steep hill. You can use the road to walk down but there is no pavement so we crossed over into Fairview Road and followed it down then walked down Peggy’s Hill path, brining you out at the butchers/gem shop. This is still steep but we found it easier as quieter with cars. Ambleside is a great place, with a Boots, Co-op, Tesco, Greggs etc. Rothay Park is only 5/10 minute walk for walking the dog each morning (although online says 9.30am opening but think this is for cars) open 24hours for pedestrians. We did Crazy golf, went on boat to Bo’ness and went to outdoor cinema. We all loved Ambleside and would definitely return. The house was everything we needed and was ideal for our daughter who uses a wheelchair but the steepness to get to town and back is definitely not ideal for people with mobility issues. There was no welcome pack but we don’t mind that as some of our party have dietary requirements. The week we were there the weather was fantastic, we hope to return soon!

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside with its numerous shops makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips, and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and the lakeside at Waterhead with parkland offering lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach. A walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre. Ambleside has plenty of restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes from great fish & chips to its two Michelin Star restaurants and all tastes in between are catered for.
