Prospect Cottage Loft

This is a gorgeous bolt hole right in the centre of Ambleside.

Prospect loft was a very nice property with all you could wish for,very close to the centre of Ambleside .

Only downside was if you are an older person the steps going up to the front door are a bit challenging, also the outside light(bulb) did not work and the area around the key collection point was very slippery(surface slime)this was reported on the Monday and not attended to by the time we left (Thursday) Overall a lovely stay

A unique and cosy property with everything you need for a perfect getaway.

Tucked away from the busy centre of Ambleside yet in easy walking distance to all amenities, it was perfect.

Slight negatives there was nowhere to store your own food for a weeks stay. Broken dressing gown hook in shower room and wobbly taps wash basin but overall would highly recommend this cottage

We stayed at Prospect Cottage Loft in April 2025. Firstly, the location of the loft was great: right near all the shops, restaurants, pubs, etc, but off the main roads. The bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. The bedding was also good quality. The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary utensils, as we had meals in most of the time. The bathroom, although small, was beautifully decorated and shower was powerful to wake you up in the morning. The living area, again was small, but cosy, large comfy sofa, with the TV at the correct height for us. The general decor of the loft was second to none, really thoughtful colours and with lovely art work. Big thanks to the owners for the complementary teas, coffee, bread and marmalade; very much appreciated. The information notes and details were comprehensive and very helpful. We’d definitely come back and would recommend it to others. Thank you.

Prospect Cottage Loft was wonderful.

It was clean, cosy and well equipped. The location is fantastic and found no issues with parking. The items provided on arrival were greatly appreciated after a 6 hour drive. Ambleside is lovely with plenty of great places to eat and things to do. We found the loft ideally located, just far enough to miss the hustle and bustle of the main street but close enough it was a 1 min walk away.

Prospect Loft was a super little find in Ambleside, small, but perfectly formed.

It was a great location, and had everything you could need. All the fixtures and furnishings were of a high quality, leading to a very comfortable stay. The hosts provided excellent information and the parking permit for the car park was most welcome. We made good use of the bus services whilst there. It was a real home from home and we wouldn't hesitate in booking again in the future.

We appreciated the goodies left and the close proximity to restaurants, shops and walks was a bonus. Having the parking permit meant we hardly used our car. We look forward to our next visit.

The loft is fabulous!

It has been decorated and furnished to a very high standard and has everything you could possibly need for a holiday stay. It is in a great central location, easy to access Ambleside and surrounding areas on foot, and you can catch a bus to the rest of the lakes from the main terminus (£2 a trip!) if you don't want to use your car. We will definitely stay again in the future and have already recommended it to family and friends!

The property was cleaned once in 4 weeks.

This wasn't enough. Otherwise, great property. On a noisy (traffic). Parking is a pita.

Welcome patio and proximity to all facilities .

I wish I knew where the bread was from which was left for us, it was outstanding.

Lovely compact property.

Felt spacious due to high ceiling and lots of windows. Decorated and maintained to high standard. Everything within walking distance. Free parking disc for central parking two mins away.

Excellent Realy enjoyed our stay in Prospect cott.

Loft, small but perfectly formed. Description acurate and honest, location great for all the amenities in Ambleside, parking not a problem never realy bothered trying to park near cott. as the car park is less than 2 mins. away. nice touch the bread and biscuits, we ate in a few nights oven and hob very good (better than home) loverly shower, comfy bed and settee. If I was to be very picky the key safe is quite awkward to use in the dark, I had to almost kneel down to get the key out.

Wonderful stay, impeccably clean.

The bed was super comfy! Couldnt ask for a better location. Couldn’t find the hairdryer that was said to be in the wardrobe is my only gripe, but otherwise I definitely will be heading back.

Immaculately clean and furnished to a high standard with a generous welcome pack.The location is perfect for the town centre and for the start of several walks ,after which, a pub is almost next door. Excellent in every respect.

Small, perfectly formed and immaculately clean.

Although the kitchen area is compact, it was well equipped. We took some big pots out of the cupboards, otherwise there wasn't anywhere to store food outside the fridge. This is just a minor concern and didn't detract from recommending this accommodation.

We had a fantastic stay at the Loft.

It was perfect. The facilities and extras were wonderful, particularly the bread in the welcome pack! The location is superb, the car stayed in the car park all week (very grateful for the parking permit supplied!). We will have no hesitation in booking to stay in the Loft again!

A delightful loft apartment in an ideal location!

Renovated to a high standard with everything we needed for a perfect week away. We particularly enjoyed morning coffee and an afternoon glass of wine on the patio....or nipping down the the Golden Rule for a pint! The parking permit worked perfectly as car didn't move for a week as we walked straight out onto the hills from the front door! We will definitely return!

The property was perfect for the two of us and a pleasure to come home to at the end of a long walk.

The welcome hamper was very thoughtful and the bed was super comfy. It's within easy reach of everything Ambleside has to offer and thanks to the guidebook in the cottage there were plenty of walks straight from the door. We were able to leave the car in the car park for the week using the free permit provided.

The traffic going up and down Kirkstone Road started about 7.

00am and finished around 11.00pm. Very noisy, in the Loft and when using the patio area. We stayed for two weeks, the first week our neighbours, in the Studio were very quiet. The second week our new neighbours, in the Studio moving furniture at all times of the day and especially at night even after 1.00am they didn’t have any respect for their neighbours. Maybe a notice saying Please Respect Your Neighbours would be an idea.

Well thought out accommodation with everything you could possibly need on a self catering holiday.

Very clean and tastefully furnished. Welcome basket was a nice touch. Ideally situated in the heart of the lovely town of Ambleside, fantastic walks straight from the door, we never used our car at all. Would highly recommend.

We had a great time and prospect loft played a key part in that. Welcomed by a welcome pack showed that they go the extra mile. Would absolutely recommend to anyone staying in Ambleside!

Great apartment in a great location.

Comfy bed and sofa and everything you could want in the kitchen. Would definitely stay here again. Car park is a 2 minute walk away

Property was not only excellently furnished it was a great location to central Ambleside.

Alot smaller than appeared on website Hob didn't work Constant noise from passing traffic Steep hills all round, making parking, access and egress very awkward Neighbours outside security light comes on at night when cars pass close to property

Lovely views of the fells. We had a thoroughly enjoyable week and would definitely stay in the studio apartment again.

The apartment is super but with a little extra thought it could be be perfect for a week’s stay in the Lakes.

At the moment there is nowhere (other than the fridge) to store your food, nowhere to dry wet clothes (it is the Lakes) and very little storage for walking or cycling kit. It would also be lovely to have cushions for the outside chairs and perhaps a storage unit outside for these to go in. The interior of the apartment is gorgeous but very cramped and the large wooden chair just gets in the way. It would be much easier and more spacious without it.

Whilst looking for somewhere to stay in Ambleside, this studio apartment jumped out at us and we were not disappointed!

It has got to be the cleanest, most comfortable and well equipped self catering accommodation we have ever stayed at. It was also in a great location, a short walk from the town centre and with great views from the small private patio area. The bed was very comfortable, the shower powerful and kitchen so well equipped with top quality products, crockery and general necessities. We would definitely stay again and would recommend to any family or friends wanting to stay in the Lake District. Thanks to the owner for providing such a great place to stay and enjoy a wonderful area.

The only drawback is it is situated on a very busy corner so quite noisy

Excellent location, super clean.

The space is small but perfectly equipped. The only issue, for us, is that the mattress is too soft. Otherwise, excellent.

Beautiful loft-style first-floor apartment.

Tastefully decorated and renovated to a very high standard.....it had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable we had trouble getting out of it every morning! We enjoyed the views of the fells from both the apartment and the separate patio area. A perfect escape to the glorious Lake District, which we will definitely repeat!

The accommodation was excellent in every way and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

A microwave has since been added and there was a hair dryer and iron to use too. My only frustration is with the time you have to wait if you have to speak to Sykes, once I was told it wouldn't be long to speak to the department I needed as it was early and no queue, but it was a long time on hold. Two other times, I just gave up.

A lovely property situated in a great location.

A microwave oven in the kitchen would have been useful. Parking was difficult directly outside the property, however the owner provides a permit to allow you to park for free in the nearby long stay car park ( only a 2 minutes walk from the property ). The permit also allows you to park for free in certain other car parks in nearby villages. We used it twice in Grasmere when visiting, which was really useful. We had a lovely holiday.

The prospect cottage loft was a great base to explore the surrounding Lake District or just walk into town and visit the shops ,cafes or pubs.

The accommodation was well presented and clean, A little home from home, Everything has been thought of, apart from maybe a little microwave other than that absolutely perfect

Only comment to make is that car parking isnt near the property. You have to park some distance away which isnt great, especially in the cumbrian wet weather!

We were very happy with the views from the patio, the location for exploring the lakes, the decor and amenities are well appreciated, and we also enjoyed the history of the cottage.

So comfortable and in a great location. The little garden area surrounded by Lakeland stone just sums up the Lake District.
