Prospect Cottage Studio

Great location, tastefully furnished and very comfortable.

Felt a bit overlooked but that can't be helped and we got around this by keeping the blinds on the windows drawn. A few hooks on the back of the bathroom door would be helpful and the paint in the bathroom on the ceiling could do with a touch up as it was peeling off, no other feedback, really enjoyed our stay.

I’ve just come back from a stunning week at Prospect Studio Cottage and would absolutely stay again.

The studio is just as listed and feels really lovely and cosy. The ceiling height is a little lower than I expected, and I did find getting ready slightly tricky as the only mirror is in the bathroom, but it’s a small adjustment once you settle in. The bed was genuinely the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, with beautifully soft bedding that made it hard to get up in the morning, so would grab a coffee, open the curtains and look over fells opposite! The sofa is comfortable, the furnishings are tasteful, and the whole space feels thoughtfully put together. I did pack my own blanket to cosy up under in the evenings. The kitchen is a real highlight stylish, well-equipped, and quite luxurious for a studio, with a perfectly sized breakfast bar. You can hear the fridge and boiler when they’re running, which took a little getting used to in the night, but nothing too disruptive. A micro fibre cloth, washing up liquid and two tea towels where provided but not cleaning spray or sponge for washing, so make sure you pick those up when doing your food shop at Booths on your way in. The location is fantastic, right in central Ambleside, close to everything you need, yet tucked away enough that it doesn’t feel busy or crowded. At times it can feel a little overlooked by neighbouring properties (some part of the same Prospect setup) when all the curtains are open, but I quickly got used to adjusting them depending on the privacy I needed to change etc. I always felt completely safe and comfortable. During my stay, Kirkstone Pass was closed, which meant more traffic than usual coming down The Struggle and onto Kirkstone Road, where the studio is located. This did bring some early morning vehicle noise, but I understand this isn’t typical. The garden is such a luxury, especially in good weather. I spent most days out there enjoying a coffee in the morning. The large tree provides shade later in the day, before the sun reappears around 6:30pm, perfect timing for an evening drink before dinner. Parking was easier than expected. I managed to find a spot on Chapel Hill each time, so didn’t end up using the nearby car park space. The road is quite steep and narrow, so I was a little mindful of passing traffic, but it wasn’t an issue overall. All in all, I thought this was fantastic value for money, a cosy, high-quality space in a brilliant location. I would 100% book again.

Our 4th time staying here. Perfect location for the amenities of Ambleside and a good central location for the Fells. The apartment is small but perfectly laid out and although there is no parking at the apartment, the main car park is only a couple of minutes walk away and a parking pass is provided. If the weather is good, the patio provides a stunning view of the sun setting over Loughrigg.

What an absolute gem in the heart of Ambleside.

We booked as a last minute get away and wasn’t something we would usually consider with it being a smaller set up however I’m SO glad we did. Such an amazing use of space and actually feels bigger than I thought it would - it also makes you live more intentionally! Beautifully presented, spotless and so so cosy and comfortable, especially with the colder weather - the bed is honestly one of the comfiest beds we’ve ever slept in (we’re considering getting the same mattress!). To top it all off the view from the property is just breathtaking. We loved it so much that we wanted to book an extra night but sadly it wasn’t available however we really hope to stay again when we come back to Ambleside - thank you for sharing prospect cottage studio with us!

The property is quaint & charming but it is a Studio so expect it to be small and you’ll need to duck at the two beams if you are over 6 feet!

Location and presentation of the property are brilliant & we had a lovely 3 days celebrating our Wedding Anniversary however there are one or two things the owners do need to do to make this from Very Good to Exceptional 1. As has been mentioned a few times, the property temperature was a constant 21/22 degrees which is uncomfortable to sleep in & doesn’t appear to be changeable. 2. The main blind was broken so it left the back of the studio dark 3. Bathroom towels are too small 4. Preference wise, we would rather have shampoo & shower gel provided than the basket of provisions.

We loved our stay at Prospect Studio, perfectly located and had everything we needed for our 6 night stay.

The bed was super comfortable. Only thing to note was that no matter what we turned the heating down to, the studio remained at a constant 23 degrees, which is a bit too warm for us.

Stayed in the studio while husband walked with friends.

Great location to the town and local walks. Maintenance team very quick to respond to a late night call out. I did find the studio very hot which is fine on a cold wet day but there was no secure way to cool the place down for comfortable sleeping on a very hot weekend. The welcome basket was a lovely touch.

I enjoyed my stay at Prospect Studio.

Luckily I only had one rainy day which was just as well as there was nowhere, apart from the curtain rail, to hang my waterproofs etc to dry. Really needs more cooking pots and pans. For self catering, one small saucepan, frying pan and a tiny milk pan is not enough. The ceiling is low. At 5ft 10 I just cleared the beams running across it. Any taller and I would have been bumping my head.

The lighting to the entrance to the steps was malfunctioning and it was very difficult to gain access especially as it gets dark at 4.

00 pm now.We found it extremely unsafe to use this access but luckily Prospect House was not occupied and we used this entrance by foot to gain access to the Studio.We would strongly advise that the security lighting around the property is upgraded.Other than that everything else was excellent. Owners were brilliant and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy after having minor issue with heating.

Both properties were very clean and really nicely renovated. We will definitely been returning.

This was the fifth time we have stayed at the Studio.

We love it and meets all our needs. It’s close to all local facilities, shops, cafe & restaurants.

This is a single room studio apartment with a small kitchen, a double bed and a 3 seater sofa.

The kitchen was very well stocked with high quality wares and the bathroom with dedicated shower was also of a good standard. But, space is quite limited particularly if you decide to stay for a week. The single-room space is tightly packed with the above facilities leaving no free space to even stretch or do yoga in the mornings. Smoke alarm is sited in the low ceiling close to the cooker which frightened us but fortunately we didn't set off the alarm with our limited cooking! Activity in the upstairs flat can sound booming sometimes due to low ceiling. Lack of on-site parking is definitely an issue as spaces may not always be available in the three designated car parks for the long-stay permit issued. We felt a space for the studio could have been carved out of the three/four car parking bay that adjacent prospect house guests have. All this said, the studio is well situated, generously kitted out and well maintained, worth considering

A beautifully presented property, everything of a very high standard.

Very handy for town but very very quiet. Lovely views from the patio. We had a wonderful stay and cannot recommend it highly enough.

We had a great stay and the unexpected snowfall made it really magical.

A couple of things that we would like to raise. The outside lighting to the patio and steps were faulty and were flickering intermittently which lead to us walking into a patio planter on our way back into the property. Shelf required in shower for shower and hair wash.Body and hand wash provided (1) had to be kept moved from shower to basin. Wine glasses very fragile glass and cracked both of them whilst drying (replaced them with more durable ones but not as elegant). Been to Prospect cottage 3 times in past 2 years, a great place to stay, great facilities, very comfortable bed and a great studio overall. The Golden Rule pub 110 yards down the hill is fantastic, real fires with great ales and wine and lovely atmosphere and crowded mostly with walkers/hikers like us. Well done for great accommodation.

Spotlessly clean, with high quality kitchen.

Welcome pack good but ground coffee with no cafetiere made no sense. No tea pot, was a minor irritation, as was coffee table too large and incongruous. Lack of headroom should have been emphasised. Major problem was the mattress which was unevenly worn, and not previously turned. Should be replaced immediately. Excellent location, nice patio and generally a high quality property. The defects mentioned could be easily rectified (headroom apart), and,once remedied, the property would get top marks.

We had a lovely stay in the Prospect Cottage Studio.

Everything we needed for our stay. It was lovely and clean. I wasn’t sure when reading the information if these were available, there was a hair drier, iron and ironing board, razor point in the shower room and freezer box in the fridge. Jo contacted us to let us know we could use the parking in front of the main house as it wasn’t occupied that week, which was a nice touch, not that walking 4 mins to the car park is an issue.

We had a very comfortable stay.

Had a problem initially with a loose toilet seat which was replaced within a few hours. Extremely satisfied with our stay.

Fabulous studio in a fabulous location.

We loved it from the moment we stepped inside.

The furnishings were absolutely amazing with no expense spared. Everything we needed was in the studio which was ideal for us as l like to make a meal or two when away. The complimentary hamper was filled with goodies to start us off this was a lovely addition. The studio was central to all Ambleside has to offer with amazing views from the patio. The location was quiet and peaceful making for great sleeps in the very comfy bed. We would definitely go back here again

Perfect for a week’s stay.

Small but ideal location close to town centre.

Prospect Cottage Studio really did deliver to its description within its marketing material.

The studio was well laid out and although compact was really spacious and ideal for our needs for two people.No pets and no children under five meant that the property was fresh and clean and had a quite distinct newness about it.The location was great, away from the main streets of the town of Ambleside but close enough and within easy reach of all amenities. The Golden Rule pub was just a couple of hundred yards away from the studio down the hill which must be the best one in Ambleside with a great selection of hand pulled beer, lagers and choice of wines.Great pork pies. The studio was a great base for numerous walks and within easy reach of buses at super regular intervals. All in all a great stay and would recommend to any couple looking for that extra special hideaway. Derek and Jane.

A lovely cottage studio beautifully furnished and finished to a very high standard.

I have a back problem and found the mattress al little too firm although it was excellent quality my husband slept like a log ! The studio was handy for shops and pubs All in all we loved it .

Great base for a week in the Lakes.

High quality apartment and whilst small, has everything you could wish for. Sitting on the terrace watching the sun set over Ambleside was perfect

Perfect accommodation for one or two people.

Prospect cottage studio is in a convenient position in the heart of Ambleside with great views, yet in a relatively peaceful spot with very little noise from neighbouring properties. Tastefully decorated and comfortable, with all facilities. Overall, a little gem!!

Parking permit worked very well. Probably the best studio apartment we have stayed in.

We had a lovely stay in the cottage.

Recently renovated, so brilliant facilities. Took us a bit of Googling to find out how to turn the towel radiator off as the bathroom was very warm. The parking permit was very handy though as it can be used in a number of surrounding places. We’d love to go back.

It wasn’t really possible to park near the studio so I used the car park which is fine until I left the car park and it was full when I got back and had to find somewhere else to park.

Immaculate accommodation with beautiful decor and quality furnishings/fittings throughout.

Location of cottage was perfect within a stones throw of the pretty bustling town of Ambleside. The only negative was the lack of storage space. One set of rather old wooden drawers which did not open and close well and was rather out of keeping with the rest of the high end furnishings. We therefore lived out of the two suitcases which cluttered the already restricted floor space. Had the bed been higher off the ground we could have pushed them under to free up space which would have been useful. This did in no way spoil our holiday as everything else was so lovely but just thought the owners may be interested to learn of things people found a little difficult to live with.

Stunning ground-floor apartment in the heart of Ambleside.

Beautifully renovated and traditionally decorated but with all modern conveniences. The location is ideal for walking out onto the fells, wandering into town....or just staying in and enjoying the views from the patio! We had wonderful relaxing stay and will definitely be back.

There was no recyling facilities.

We were only a party of 2, but even so we recycled a whole 50l bag. We brought it home, we’re not sure others would have done that and instead put it in general waste. Please show whether recyling opportunities are included in the summary of each property, as it may encourage owners to do the right thing.

Beautiful holiday cottage.

Immaculately clean. Had everything we needed for our visit so we could easily stay and cook in a few nights. Excellent location 2 minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside which has so many amazing choices for eating out and some great independent shops. Have highly recommended to friends and family already.

The studio was really lovely and beautifully furnished with taste.

We felt that a place to dry your hair with a mirror would be useful. Also maybe a shelf in the bathroom to put is needed. The parking was difficult and if you lost the space it was difficult to get back. Loved the decor and the quality of the furnishings

Brilliant little apartment, all you need for two people.

Excellent location, no need to use the car all week. Managed to park on the road even during the busy school holidays, but the option of using a car park permit was great. Definitely coming back
