“Such a lovely place to stay, and in a great area too.”

Within walking distance of the village, which is also an added bonus. The property was clean and comfortable, highly maintained and a home from home. Would definitely stay here again!

Refurbished to a high standard and awarded a 4-star gold award from the AA, Rydal is a stylish, welcoming, one-bedroom, self-catering cottage for solo travellers or couples.

With spectacular mountain views, Rydal is the perfect, quiet, tucked-away little haven to relax in after a day's walking.

When you're ready to head out, you'll find a good selection of shops where you can stock up on your essentials, as well as a wealth of inviting eateries, should you not feel like cooking.

Ambleside is one of the prettiest and most well-loved towns in the Lake District and is the 5th most popular starting point for walkers in Britain.

Ambleside retains many traditional and historic Lakeland buildings, also offering plenty of entertainment throughout your stay, such as a museum, art galleries, shops, restaurants, cinema and pubs, along with the famous Bridge House Ambleside, all less than 5 minutes' walk from the Apartment.

For the active, there's doorstep access to the fells and lakes where you can enjoy an abundance of outdoor activities and water sports, from mountain climbing to a gentle ramble to see Stockghyll Force (just behind the apartment), to sailing on Windermere Lake.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants, and pubs in the village to suit all tastes, including the popular eateries of Misto, Sheila's Cottage, and The Lily Bar. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
