“The property was lovely albeit up a steep incline which posed a problem for two of our party with health issues.”

The views were lovely, the property lovely although the furniture was very dated. Tip for others, take a hairdryer and hanging toiletry bags to make your stay more comfortable. Lovely surroundings, sadly wouldn’t book again owing to incline.

From its elevated setting this detached single storey property has good views from all the rear windows, patio and garden room taking in the sweep of fells around Ambleside and down to Lake Windermere. It will take you around five minutes to walk down the hill into Ambleside centre and maybe a little more down to the shores of Lake Windermere.

Lake cruises can be enjoyed in all seasons and you can hire individual boats to row on the lake.

There are so many walks to do in the immediate area that you may never need to use the car and, of course, Ambleside boasts a host of places to eat out if you wish. Accommodation: Whilst Todd Crag is a bungalow there are a few steps in the garden before you reach the front door.

Entrance hall has a good cupboard to take all your outdoor gear.

Spacious L-shaped sitting/dining room with patio door to balcony and three other windows (fireplace with coal effect gas fire, TV with Sky Freeview, DVD and free Wi-Fi).

Newly fitted kitchen with door to patio. There are two bedrooms - a master double with king sized bed and en-suite and fully tiled (p-shaped bath with shower over, basin and wc).

The twin bedroom has use of the family bathroom and fully tiled (bath with shower over, basin and wc). The property has been carefully prepared for letting with every thought for your holiday needs.

Fitted carpets to all main rooms and attractive contemporary colours offer an air of comfort, and gas central heating keeps you cosy in any season. Outside: Ample parking for two cars in the driveway.

Gardens to front and rear - the back garden having patio and garden furniture with a fine view.

A garden room makes a sheltered place in which to relax at the end of your busy day.

Ambleside village centre half a mile, lake shore three quarters mile approx.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
