“Had a great weekend with family.”
Cottage was well equipped to a high standard and lovely and warm and cosy on very cold days. Our dog really enjoyed the underfloor heating! Great location. Walk into village was fine during the day but we would not do it in the dark due to having to cross a very busy, fast road. Shops/pubs there and we did get a really great takeaway from Ashiana restaurant, where they were happy to provide us with a guaranteed milk free curry for a dairy allergy sufferer.
There were a couple of things that could have been improved, for us:
We thought some of the many laminated label/notices were not needed, such as the lengthy one on the bathroom bins which went into a bit too much detail (really not necessary).
Although it was a nice touch having the lovely Portmeirion crockery to use we were worrying the whole time about breakages, due to another laminated notice stating the very high prices to replace any broken items; surely this should be up the owners to foot the bill for any breakages - never come across this before. We would have been happy with cheaper plates/cups etc and not be so worried.
Despite the above suggestions we did have a great weekend; my husband really enjoyed his retirement break.

We are pleased you enjoyed our Lodge, underfloor heating and Ashiana, they have a well-deserved high reputation. Our Portmerion crockery we agree is expensive. We were advised by Visit England that a 4-star gold property should have either Portmerion, Royal Worcester or Royal Doulton crockery. We have provided alternative items for children when asked. There is a longer walk round, avoiding the short-cut across the dual-carriageway of the A66, which has a safety crossing in the central reservation. The night-lights provided double as torches as, being outside the town, we are not provided with street lights and may qualify as a Dark Sky Area.
