We enjoyed a wonderful week at Brookside.

The cottage is lovely, very well equipped, very comfortable, garden is secure and a great place to explore the area.

She is absolutely perfect for a family of five with Pets.

location is Brill nice and quite. Lots of walking areas. The cottage is comfortable warming and homely Just what you expect form a Little country cottage. as a family are looking forward to staying there again as we absolutely loved,

Perfect accommodation, ideal location.

We loved our stay at Brookside, we've stayed in quite a few different holiday places and this one is definitely one of the best.

Beautifully clean, with lots a nice touches that really make a difference and make it welcoming. The kitchen is particularly well equipped, with an air fryer and slow cooker! Location is great, but dog walks do require a walk down the edge of the busy road as there's nowhere immediate to walk to, and the local pub had closed the previous week unfortunately! Obviously there's plenty a short drive away though. We had some nice weather and it was lovely sitting outside in the garden listening to she sheep "chatting" in the fields the evening. One small improvement could be a table or bench outside for eating together when the weather permits! Overall it's a brilliant place to stay, definitely one of our new favourites and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and will definitely book again in the future. Thank you to the owners for making it so welcoming.

This is a beautifully appointed cottage with loads of extra touches from Alexa in the kitchen to flowers on arrival.

It's a bit far out from what you might say are the lakes central and this meant it was really quiet with no traffic. This is a great sized cottage for 2 adults two teens and a dog. It would have been helpful to know where we could walk from the cottage though, I found it difficult to walk around without driving somewhere.

Our 2nd stay.

Fantastic communication from owner on the couple of times I messaged. We stayed during the heatwave and the lounge was perfect as it doesn't get the sun so was lovely and cool! The dining kitchen is spacious enough to accommodate our XL dog cage & still have plenty of room to move around. The beds are comfortable, everything spotless & nice decor. The washer/dryer very useful as most of our clothes weren't suitable for such hot weather so we used it for the few items we wore repeatedly over the week.The dishwasher requires new baskets as they are rusting & the bathroom sink tap sprays; minor things like the gate & garden walls repainting, and the bushes cutting in height so you could see the views would make it 100% perfect.

This was our second visit to Brookside and both times the house has been clean, warm and comfy.

In the kitchen the owners have thought of every appliance and utensil we would need. The flowers and wine on arrival was a lovely welcome and they even put a bowl of water down for our dog. We wouldn't hesitate to book Brookside in the future it is one of our favorite places where we have stayed

This property is excellent - smart, very clean, very comfortable furniture and well equipped - spacious kitchen diner.

Its location is not only nice (hill views) but it is the privacy also which it offers which is lovely - especially when you have pets to consider - ie the garden was, in our case, dog proof and smart - and private - well screened from the adjacent property. All in all we felt very at home in this lovely cottage. Thank you very much to the owners who obviously have worked hard to provide such an exceptional standard of accommodation.

We had a wonderful time in March, out of season.

Couple walks and sight seeing in the area. The main reason was to relax and the cottage was perfect for this. We all slept really well. We will visit again x

It is a lovely spacious cottage and it is exceptionally clean. Garden is dog proof. There are many places to visit that are just a short drive away. I can certainly recommend it.

The cottage was absolutely perfect in every way.

Beautiful countryside location, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished with all the mod cons you could wish for. We had a fantastic week and would highly recommend. The nearest supermarkets are roughly 20 minutes drive away, but we got a Tesco delivery with no problems at all. The turning at the bottom of the road into the cottage is a bit tight, but even with a larger car, we got round with no problem. Definitely one of the best cottages we have rented, a credit to the owners (and the cleaning/maintenance staff)

Lovely cottage, but found you could hear traffic noise all the time.

Doesn’t say in your review by main road. Also think if paying the full price for 2 people for a cottage for 5 you might leave a couple more dishwasher tablets. Other than that lovely place

A really lovely cottage with a good enclosed garden for our dog. Easy access to a variety of walks at Coniston, Hawkshead and Ambleside after a scenic drive. Ulverston is about 10 minutes down the road for shopping. Booths is great. We would definitely recommend this cottage. The owners were really helpful and quick to respond. Great stay, thank you.

We absolutely loved staying at Brookside.

The cottage itself is cosy and beautifully clean, with a large kitchen ideal for myself, my sister and our teenage sons to spend time together in the evenings playing games etc. The cottage is in a very rural setting which really suited us, very relaxing, but within a short drive to Coniston and other sights of interest. Only small request would be for some larger cooking saucepans, cooking for 5 people with the three mid size pans was a bit tricky. Other than that would highly recommend and we hope to come back again.

Our stay at Brookside was excellent.

The cottage was furnished to the highest standard and had all the facilities you would expect and probably more. I had to contact the owner (Marie) over a minor issue and her response was immediate. One of if not the best cottage I've stayed in, highly recommended.

The location is ideal because it’s central to all of the popular tourist attractions.It’s doggy friendly too which pleases us,definitely not over priced as a lot of similar properties. Fantastic find!

Lovely comfy, cosy cottage, very rural area with sheep on your doorstep! The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and the garden was extremely well kempt, with delightful shaded and sunny areas to sit out in in the afternoon. We had an issue with the water on the 2nd day, called the owners, Mark was there within 10 minutes and had resolved the issue within 5 minutes! Couldn't ask for better than that. Found some fantastic beaches and woodland walks and also lakeside walks while we were there, in fact we had a fabulous week and would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone. (The only real issue we had was the neighbour next door kept inviting herself round and asking to come in, telling us not to call the vets if anything happened to our dog but to go to her instead, all well and good and she was probably only trying to be friendly, but it was hard to get rid of her once she started talking! We found ourselves almost running from the car to the house on returning for the day for fear of her seeing us and coming out!)

Cleanliness is second to none, everything is spotless. TV went off rang Maria and she brought us another. Best cottage we have been in it`s nice and quiet and convenient for anywhere in the Lakes, god willing will be back next year. Unfortunately we had a poorly dog so had to leave on Thursday, thankyou Maria for all your help.

This was a wonderful cottage return plenty of space for belongings and pretty much everything we needed.

(Could have done with a long handled broom). It was lovely to have a welcome off flowers, milk and hot drinks and biscuits to get us started. Thank you. Our two girls enjoyed them indoor and outdoor games and Alexa to listen to their favourite songs and check the weather! Great place to get to Lake Windermere and Conniston Water but also south to Barrow and Walney Island. Lots to explore. We will definitely be back to the area but probably not this cottage- the only downside of this cottage for us was one toilet and shower for the 4 of us was a little tricky at times. But we knew this when booking. Everything else was great!

Stayed here twice now and both time it’s been amazing.

Excellent cottage with every thing we needed.

Spacious and clean and beautiful safe and secure garden for the dogs. Location is a bit out in the stcks. Walked into Grizebeck on the first day along a busy road with not much footpath, which was treacherous, and there isn't much there when you get there. The pub was closed and the service station looks very run down. However, once we got our bearings everything was OK. Visited Broughton a few times plus Ulverston and a Askam beach, which is fabulous for the dogs. All in all a great holiday.

Beautifully appointed cottage in the South Lakes.

Spotlessly clean and beds very comfortable. A lot of effort and expertise has been used when renovating this property to an exceptional standard. Location is ideal for accessing the Lakes and surrounding areas. We were lucky enough to enjoy sitting in the garden in the evening, using the cushions and couple of throws for the chairs. Highly recommend this cottage 5*

Lovely and clean cottage.

Garden was great for the dog. Apparently there is no longer a general store in Kirkby in Furness which was a disappointment. We would recommend as a base for exploring,but we would have liked to have been a bit further away from the main road.

This holiday was for my 60th birthday and it was perfect in every way.

I chose the property due to the location and the easy access to the beautiful Lake district. The setting was idyllic, in a quiet remote area surrounded by rolling hills, mountains in the distance and grazing sheep and newborn lambs. The cottage exceeded expectations; stylish, quaint and full of charm. The cottage was spacious with an attractive outdoor garden and furniture which we used quite a lot during our stay despite it being March and the weather being unpredictable. The lounge was small, but cosy and really we didn't spend much time in the lounge. The rest of the cottage kitchen/dining room were spacious and full of everything that we needed for a pleasant stay. The owners left fresh flowers, dog treats, tea and coffee and biscuits which was very much appreciated and welcoming. I have stayed with Sykes cottages a few times in the past and I can definitely say that this is my favourite cottage so far. Clean, comfortable and full of charm, we loved our stay at Brookside. it was perfect in every way. Many thanks to Sykes Cottages and to the owners. Paula

What can i say the cottage was a dream we loved it got snowed it for 2 days which was perfect the landlady and landlord were at hand anytime we needed them because they knew we were stuck in with snow they brought us extra wood and helped us when we got car troubles they were perfect the cottage well was perfect in fact stunning clearly now expense spared will def be coming back loved the place mark and amanda alex wayney and my dog jackson

What a beautiful cottage this is, immaculately kept and in a stunning location, everything you need for a great stay in the lakes, lovely secure garden for the dogs, a great beach just 10 minute drive away.

As soon as you walk through the door it feels like home, very spacious and fully equipped kitchen, lovely living room with log burning stove, very comfy beds that you won’t want to get out of, we have found our new holiday home and are already planning our next visit. Just perfect!

Lovely, warm and spacious property.

All modern furnishings and very clean. Enclosed garden which was safe for the dog with views over the estuary. Nice and peaceful to sit in. This cottage is in a good location for exploring both the coastline and the the western lakes. There is a market town nearby with a few shops and pubs that serve good food. The cottage owners and local publicans were really friendly. We had a very enjoyable and relaxing week here.

When booking holidays I always worry that the accommodation isn’t as good as stated but no worries here, Brookside was comfortable, extremely clean and had everything you could possibly need and more.

On arrival there were lovely flowers on the table, tea, coffee, milk and biscuits, even a bowl of water for our dog. A lot of thought has gone into making your stay perfect and I would definitely have no hesitation in recommending this cottage. Thank you Marie and Mark.

Our second stay at Brookside this year and it was just as perfect as our first visit.

We genuinely love everything about the house, and Marie and Mark are the most thoughtful hosts. The house has everything you might possibly need for your stay and the kitchen is perfectly equipped for all your needs. Wow … we spent a glorious week here 3rd July and I have to say this cottage wants for nothing .

The owners have thought of everything and the beds are so comfortable ., the cottage was immaculately clean . Walking in to lovely flowers and milk for our first cuppa with a complimentary biscuit. The scenery was perfect , even the sheep popping there heads up to kitchen window was so cute . We had swallows nesting above the front door , which was an added bonus to watch . Our dogs loved the secure garden … we will definitely be booking again

We have just returned from our holiday at Brookside, and honestly, everything was even better than we could ever dream of.

The house was just beautiful and spotlessly clean, the little touches like fresh water for the dog ( and treats), fresh flowers, milk and biscuits etc were mucb appreciated after our long journey. I genuinely couldn't fault it, everything was just perfect and we loved our stay so much, we have already booked another stay next year. A delightful stay in a cosy dog friendly cottage that is well equipped.

Nice to see beautiful flowers on the table on arrival as well as a dog bowl full of fresh water. We had a lovely week with visits to the Ravenglass narrow gauge railway, a walk to Stanley Ghyll Waterfall and a boat trip on Lake Coniston. We also had a lovely walks at Roanhead beach that the friendly neighbours told us about. Had some lovely meals in the beer garden at The Greyhound Inn in Grizebeck. The cottage is a great base for exploring the lakes with a nice enclosed garden (secure for dogs) which we sat in whilst watching the swallows building their nest. Thank you

The property was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy. The owner clearly considers who will be staying, we took our dog and the water bowl was left out filled with water ready for Lucy's arrival. The flowers on the table, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits were a nice touch too. The cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the Cumbrian countryside with stunning walks from the door or just a short drive away. We would definitely use the cottage again.

It was clean, warm and so cosy with the fire lit after a day exploring. The cottage is very well equipped with lots of homely touches, extra throws, wood for the fire, really well equipped kitchen, even little treats for our dogs, who were shattered when we got home! We would definitely recommend to family and friends.

The cottage was beautiful everything that we needed was there. Every detail was thought out by the owners even down to treats and water left for our puppy. Beautiful welcome gifts for us also. The best bit was looking out the window to see all the sheep. Would bring a smile to our faces Thank you

Brookside Cottage was everything you could ask for.

Spotlessly clean and well maintained. For the cooler evenings there was a wood burner with fire lighters and logs provided. Even some throws/blankets to curl up in on the sofas. Would definitely recommend and return to if in the area again. Wonderful views all around as well.

Brookside in a beautiful hidden gem, very dog friendly our dogs loved it.

It was spotless and everything you needed even flowers on the table. Plenty of parking space the drive up to the cottage is a bit narrow for a large car, but we didn't scratch the car, had a bit of trouble with the TV but was quickly sorted. we loved Brookside, hope to visit again next year.

We had such a lovely week staying at Brookside.

We were very lucky with beautiful sunshine throughout the week, the garden is a lovely little sun trap in the afternoon and evening. From the moment we opened the gate to Brookside we knew we had picked the perfect cottage. A lovely enclosed garden for our dog with nice seating area to enjoy the sunshine with a glass of wine. We were welcomed with flowers, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. Our dog was welcomed with a fresh bowl of water (just what she needed after travelling) and lots of yummy treats. The cottage itself was such a lovely clean, spacious home for us all. We loved the kitchen! It was a great location for the tourist spots (not too far to drive). Some off the places we visited were Coniston Lakes, Lakeland Motor Museum, Ulverston, Lake Windermere, Bowness-on-Windermere, Stanley Ghyll Waterfall. We all had a great holiday, would happily return and recommend to family and friends.

We felt right at home from the moment we arrived at Brookside.

The cottage was so welcoming and it is clear to see that the owners want their guests to fully enjoy all aspects of it. The kitchen / dinner is thoughtfully laid out and very well appointed. The bedrooms are no different and the beds so comfortable. The cottage is in an ideal location for travelling round and exploring all of the Southern Lakes and coastline; the views all around are simply glorious and the local hostelry’s are very good. Not one bad thing to say and would highly recommend staying at the cottage.

(Mainly the Opposite) We were made very welcome my the owners and the neighbours! We found most of the folk we met to be friendly and always ready to chat!

A lovely stay at Brookside, it's is a great location to visit the southern lakes.

We had a nice meal at the local pub in Grizebeck, and it's very dog friendly. The beach at Bardsea was good for dog walks and other dog friendly trips we had were to Furness Abbey, Ravenglass railway & the launch on Coniston lake. The house is lovely, very well appointed and the garden is a suntrap.
