Edgemere Retreat

Great accommodation, very nicely done, especially the bedrooms.

The only thing we would negatively comment on, which was also mentioned to us by the people staying next door was that there were some pretty deep pot holes in the lane leading up to the cottages which need filling in - otherwise, the property itself is first rate.

Edgemere Retreat is in an ideal location for exploring both the stunning countryside as well as the towns and villages in the surrounding South Lakes.

We did three beautiful walks and enjoyed visiting Cartmel and Grange-Over-Sands during our short stay. The house was beautifully clean, comfy and functional with some good facilities. The dogs loved being able to roam outside in the secure patio area meaning we could relax and enjoy the views. I would agree with other reviews, however, the house does get incredibly hot downstairs. The sun blasts in through the patio door and fixed windows and that, together with the heating and lighting, means the heat just increases. We had sunny but quite windy weather so we couldn’t leave the door open as there was no hook to ensure it didn’t slam shut. Would benefit from an update on the information book, measuring jug and a corkscrew, but other than that we would definitely go back to Edgemere Cottages. Thank you for a super stay!

This was our second stay at Edgemere, and once again it was a wonderful experience.

The property is exactly as described, very clean, spacious, and with a well-equipped kitchen. It’s a lovely walk into Cartmel, where there are some great pubs to choose from. Paul was very accommodating and communicated with us throughout, which always put you at ease when booking a weekend away. We would definitely visit again.

very lovely cottage the only thing I would say we could not adjust the heating an lower it as the key boards were locked as my wife suffers with breathing difficulties but very clean and comfortable

The cottage was lovely and as described on the internet, the only small issues we had was there was no batteries in the remotes for the tv in the bedrooms, and also was not able to lower the heating as the thermostats were locked, I can appreciate not been able to up it, but was too hot upstairs, had to leave windows open, then could hear other peoples dogs, but other than that a lovely place to stay .

Nice quiet location. Great views. Modern property but tastefully done. Well located easy travelling distance to the coast and the Lakes. Couldn't get on wifi but OK with 5G on phone. Probably us not doing something right. Overall great place. Thanks.

..sofa was full of dog hairs and crumbs... Blinds very dusty... Needs cleaning properly No mattress protector... Toaster wants replacing Everything else was good Would give it a 10 if it was cleaned properly

Lovely cottage just what we were looking for.

Fantastic location and spacious, comfortable accommodation with plenty of parking and a secure garden for dogs.

Highly recommend it for local walks and a good base to explore the southern lakes area. Cartmel village is a delight if you like to eat/drink out as there's plenty of places to choose from. The kitchen is very well equipped, the only things we were missing was a smaller pan and a small dish/bowl for the microwave, most of the cookware was sized for larger meals rather than a light supper (not a criticism! We all have different ways of doing things). Bedrooms and bathrooms were great.

This property is lovely however it was let down by the cleanliness.

The dishwasher was still full upon arrival and had an awful smell that meant we needed to keep the door open to air the house when we first arrived. We later found chocolate wrappers on the floor by the side of the bed and that the toilet had not been cleaned properly. There were also a number of spiderwebs with flies wrapped in them in obvious places upon arrival which suggested they hadn’t been touched. That said, the property is absolutely lovely and we had a brilliant time. The beds were comfy, it was a home from home stay.
