When it’s time to eat, the kitchen/diner has everything needed to produce hearty food for the whole family with a rustic dining table and chairs, the perfect spot to pull up a chair and tuck in.
Should the sun be shining, the rear patio garden is ideal for sitting out and soaking up the sunshine.

Walks, hikes and bike trails aplenty can be found in Grizedale Forest with Fell Foot Park and Scott Park ideal for some fresh air.

Such a lovely cottage in a great location for exploring the Lake District.
The cottage was well furnished, with nicely co-ordinating decorative touches such as blankets, cushions and interesting art work. The kitchen was fully equipped and the bedlined and towels were good quality and lovely and fresh. It was a nice surprise to find a welcome basket awaiting us on the kitchen table and a bottle of milk in the fridge. We were a family of 5 and the bedroom and bathroom layout were perfect for us, but would equally easily accomodate a 6th person without the property feeling cramped.

Acorn Cottage is situated very central to all the amenities.
There was a welcome basket which is always appreciated and shows they care about their guests. It was very clean and plenty of cleaning materials were left for us to use. We had a lovely holiday with lots of days out and it was always good to head back the cottage knowing we would be in comfort. Fans were supplied in this hot weather which was an added bonus.

I cannot recommend this beautiful house enough, the owners were so helpful with a query I had before we arrived.
The house was spotless on arrival and the parking for two cars was great. There is literally everything you could ever need in the property , plenty of space , a lovely secure area at the rear and just a few minutes stroll into Bowness . We loved our weekend here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again , thank you ☺️

The cottage is ideally situated just behind the main street in Bowness, in a quiet cul de sac, with 2 free allocated parking spaces.
The house is in excellent condition, the kitchen is very well equipped. Everything is thoughtfully provided eg. Walking poles, local walk books and a good information book. The owners responded very promptly and helpfully to the one query we had. I would love to stay here again, the price is extremely reasonable. Thank you for having us, we had a very enjoyable stay.

Acorn cottage was totally inviting and like 'home from home' everything you need in the kitchen Good to be able to park outside the property 5 minute walk to main road for bus stop, shops,restaurants etc so a great location Acorn cottage was so quiet and peaceful and we all had a great stay

We had a super holiday at Acorn Cottage.
We loved the property, its character, that it had everything we could possibly need and of course its amazing location; perfect for walks, shopping and visiting other villages and towns in the area. We have given it 3 out of 4 on ‘accuracy of listing’ however as we didn’t expect the rear garden to be so open to neighbours on one side and also that rear gates could be opened and gardens accessed by other residents. If we had not had a dog, this might not have been an issue but as we do and a gate was left open on one occasion, we feel we should draw your attention to this. Overall, a property that we think many (including us) would want to revisit.

The gate should definitely not have been left open and I apologise for this. I can completely understand why this would be unacceptable especially with a dog. The through access is great for allowing muddy bikes and dogs to get to the back where there is a hose and sprayer without going through the house. We agree the fence on the left is too low and it is being replaced next month to match the one on the right. Very good central location , lovely cottage , clean throughout , well equipped kitchen , parking was great for two vehicles and lovely touch with the welcome pack.

Acorn Cottage is a warm and welcoming space to come back to at the end of the day.
It offers all the comforts of a well thought out home. A true experience of hospitality. Parking out front was an added bonus in an area where parking cannot be taken for granted. A short walk up the hill behind will bring you to some outstanding views across the lake.

Great location, facilities in kitchen could want more.
Garden could be more cared for but not a real problem. Log burning fire great on cold winter nights after day walking. Only thing that was disappointing was the birds left calling cards all over our car so had to wash off constantly and we real look after the car, not sure how this could be managed.

Great location and everything we needed for a few days away.
The welcome basket and the milk in the fridge were really welcome. Everything was in walking distance from the cottage so you can leave the car for the duration of you choose. We took a drive out around the lakes and returned home to a warm comfortable cottage. We couldn’t have asked for anything more.

Parking for 2 cars!
We were met with a wonderfully warm and cosy cottage. We loved the welcome basket, lovely touch. The cottage was very clean, everywhere! Very generous with dishwasher tablets, washing tablets and lots of other necessities in the cupboards. Too many to mention. Kitchen was very well stocked. Slept well, comfortable beds. Brilliant Information Pack. Absolutely everything you need to know and more. Location perfect. So close to many lovely restaurants and shops but in a quiet location. Will definitely look to book again.

We found Acorn Cottage to be very clean, comfortable & always nice and warm.
The kitchen had every appliance you would need. The dining area was ok but a little cramped for 6 people. The beds were all very comfortable. The location is really Bowness, Windermere was a little further away. We would not hesitate to book again.

Wonderfull cottage in a lovely part of town.
Spotlessly clean. We were a family of 2 adults and 2 kids under the age of 11. Everyone had a fantastic time. Plenty of space for everyone. It was great that our dog was welcome too. There was a lovely welcome hamper that was very kind and welcoming. The cottage has everything that you would need from the kitchen equipment, to Internet and a smart tv in the lounge. Thanks so much for a wonderfull stay, will be looking to book again.

Really enjoyed our stay at Acorn cottage.
Location was fantastic. On bus route as well. In walking distance to lots of restaurants. The cottage is very clean and has everything you need. The only negative thing I would say is the shower was very hot in the top bedroom and would not turn down. But I did let the owner know about this. Definitely stay again.

It was a great place to stay, very clean and the complementary basket was most welcomed, including milk in the fridge when you arrive.
Just two small points, the shower on the top floor was difficult to control the temperature, mostly too hot. In the information pack it stated to leave the green bin at the end of the drive, which I did, however when they arrive they collect from where it normally stands, that info need to change on the sheet. Everything else great - thank you again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Acorn Cottage.
It was in a great location, walking distance to shops, restaurants and pubs. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and the facilities for dogs were perfect. The only point of feedback (albeit minor) was that more toilet roll and some shower gel/shampoo etc would’ve been appreciated but other than that, no complaints. We would definitely reccomend.

Upon arrival we were greeted with a hamper of goodies which was a lovely touch. And even a pint of fresh milk in the fridge which I was most grateful of as was in need of a coffee after a 6 hour drive. We love the Lake District and would definitely book Acorn Cottage again!

Would definitely recommend. quiet location. Nice touch with some added extras (coffee etc in the welcome pack). Good location for dog owners with enclosed yard. Owners have put a lot of thought into this property to make it comfortable, even providing a dog basket and dog treats. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Beautifully presented cottage in a quiet close.
The cottage was very clean and well equipped . We parked the car out the front and did not use it once all week as the cottage is in a great location between Windermere and Bowness. The cottage was dog friendly and a what a. lovely gesture in the welcome hamper with treats for our little dog Archie! Superb would definitely recommend !

We had a great stay at this property.
We found it very clean and the kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were really comfortable and the bathrooms were great too. It is in a great location on the outskirts of Bowness and also within walking distance of Windermere. We highly recommend it.

We had a lovely stay here- good location off the main road- quiet, parking off road, bus stop nearby if needed- supermarket close by and placed equally between the main areas of both Windermere and Bowness.
The cottage had everything we needed for our stay with a delightful welcome pack as well. Although the stairs to the loft bedroom are steep as described we managed and overall the cottage suited us perfectly and would definitely book again.

Beautiful cottage.
Superb decor throughout. Really comfortable. Everything to a high standard, equipped throughout with quality seating, needs, kitchen and appliances. The best and confident cottage we have ever booked. Quiet area, good double parking outside the house. Rear court yard is a real sun trap. Arrived to find a selection of snacks and a bottle of prosecco. Just what we needed after a long drive. A coffee machine with loads of pods in the kitchen, even a ninja air fryer. In a rental cottage, superb! Fantastic onsuite on the top floor. Second bathroom is good size and really nice with a good shower also. Super comfy beds. Cleanliness was excellent theoughout Will definitely be booking again! Highly recommend A+++

Acorn Cottage is absolutely charming.
The rooms are clean, spacious, beautifully presented and have all the facilities you may need for a holiday. The location is great, there is ample parking and the cottage is only a few minutes walk from the centre of Bowness. The welcome pack on arrival was a lovely gesture and I look forward to bringing my family back for another stay at Acorn Cottage again in the future.

The property was lovely and thank you for the welcome basket.
The property was well located and had all the essentials. The only issue we had was with the heating - the nights were chilly and sitting in the lounge room was very cool.

One of the quietist I have stayed in bowness. Really enjoyed our stay beds very comfortable every thing you need . Only thing I would change is bigger tv will book again love bowness

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location with great access to Bowness and Windermere and its restaurants, pubs, shops and the lake.
Cottage has everything you need for a lovely relaxing break away and the welcome hamper was such a lovely touch. The closed garden was ideal for our dog and after forgetting her food/water bowl it was great to see spare dog bowls already there along with a dog bed!!! I would highly recommend staying here either as a family or as a couple and we will definitely be booking to stop in this lovely cottage again. What a fantastic stress free weekend away.. thank you!!!

Home from home, we took half the house with us but didn't need to.
Great to have all the kitchen gadgets air fryer , coffee machine everythings been well thought of for that stay away. A lovely welcome pack with goodies on arrival...House was super clean, we all slept really well, comfy beds with nice Cosy duvets. House is in a great spot for walking to Bowness and up to Windermere. We had a lovely weekend away and would highly recommend. We will definitely be back...Thank you ☺️ x

We just had a short break at Acorn Cottage with my husband and two children, and it did not disappoint.
The cottage had everything we needed for our stay and is perfectly located in the lovely town of Bowness, right in the heart of shops, cafes, restaurants, and scenic walks. There’s truly something for everyone. Set in a quiet cul-de-sac, we hardly heard any traffic from the main road. All the bedrooms were comfortable and clean, with very comfy beds and soft, thick duvets. The bathrooms featured great showers and lovely-smelling hand soap. The kitchen was well-equipped, complete with tea, a coffee machine with supplied pods, sugar, and milk. We were pleasantly surprised by a lovely welcome hamper upon arrival. The washing machine, washing tablets, and heated airer were fantastic additions for our muddy clothes after walks and riding. We especially loved the cozy front room with the log burner, making it the perfect way to end our days. I would 100% recommend Acorn Cottage and would definitely return in the future.

Instructions for refuse and recycling could be clearer.
2 green bins on drive not numbered and one disappeared before we left. A clock would be useful upstairs. Generally a very comfortable cottage in a quiet location yet close to all local amenities, especially for people without their own transport. Would stay again.

We had a fantastic time!
Hosts had excellent communication both in advance and during our holiday. The house is a great size, very clean and comes very well equipped. We stayed as a group of 4 adults, 2 babies and 2 small dogs. The house is plenty big enough and perfect for families (as well as friends). So many great touches from children's cutlery, dog treats, delicious coffee pods and such nice hand soap we even went out and brought it before we came home. We would highly recommend and will definitely be returning. A massive thank you again for being so accommodating with our 2 small babies.

Our first visit to the lake district we absolutely loved our stay cottage is wonderful decor is beautiful we were in the attic bedroom with en suite so comfortable and cosy .

The off street parking is really handy. The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and had the perfect sleeping arrangements for us. Really well finished aswell. Would definitely recommend and will consider staying here again next time we visit the Lake District.

A delightful cottage in a superb location.
Walking distance to the many amenities of Bowness including bars, restaurants, shops , art galleries , cinema, lakeside and boat trips and Beatrix Potter attraction Short drive or slightly longer drive into Windermere. The cottage is set back from the main road and sitting out in the evening you would not know you were close to the centre of Bowness. I usually take supplies tea, coffee, cooking oil, hand soap , loo roll with me but need not have as all thoughtfully provided Everything you would need during your stay is provided Large bedroom on 3rd floor with luxurious shower room Double bedroom offered plenty of room. My only comment would be the twin is only suitable for young children or one older child/adult as there is limited room between beds Everything you would possibly need was provided including Netflix access Cottage was very clean and well maintained Would recommend and would stay again Only suggestions for future consideration would be a radio/alexa and a bbq
Thank you for your very detailed, helpful and positive review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay in Acorn Cottage. Following on from your comments about the twin room, the twin beds have been replaced with new ones and we have put in a new chest of drawers for storage in that room. We feel confident now that this room would comfortably accommodate two adults. We have also put a Bluetooth speaker in the property. We hope to see you back again.
