Craig Cottage

The cottage was clean and comfortable - the grass at the front was cut after we arrived but was very overgrown when we first got there.

The yard at the back needs maintaining too. Great location and had a lovely stay with our dog.

Great cottage in a very central location which is walking distance to Bowness, the lake and Windermere.

It has the huge benefit of having a designated car parking place meaning you can park up and walk to places from the cottage. Very clean and well equipped with super comfortable beds, lovely kitchen and bathroom. The outside needs a little attention & maintenence, (grass cutting in the garden and broken guttering causing issues in the rain) but the inside is really lovely and very comfortable.

Our second stay at Craig Cottage.

Great location being a short walk down to the lake or up to Windermere town centre. We parked the car up and then walked or took public transport for the rest of our stay. Immaculately clean and comfortable. Yes, there are signs of wear and tear but if you look at the calendar it is pretty much booked out all year round. We will definitely book again. We have just come back from a lovely stay in the lakes using Craig Cottage as our base.

The property location couldn’t be any more perfect to visit and explore Bowness on Windermere and Lake Windermere itself. We were walking distance from it all. The cleanliness of the property was also to a high standard. The bathroom was lovely and modern and very clean. However Unfortunately for us we felt let down when arriving due to lots of wear and tear markings up the stairs, paint chips under the window in the living room as well as mouldy patches behind the tv, watery mould like damp patches on the stairs ceiling, a discolouration mark on the edge of the bedroom wallpaper ceiling, a large mark on the kitchen ceiling where it looked like there had been works done above the ceiling and not corrected properly and lots of paint chipped off near the back door. Also we had rain whilst we visited and noticed a very loud constant dripping noise whilst trying to sleep, in the morning we discovered part of the guttering was broken so this also needs fixing as the noise is very loud hitting against the concrete outside when rain falls. The small back courtyard could do with a general clean up as it’s overgrown with weeds, also for us bringing our dog it would have been beneficial for an outdoor light as it was quite eerie at night letting him out for the toilet knowing it leads down an alleyway. WiFi we found to be not very good at all, couldn’t connect to anything, once an app loaded it kept buffering and was very very slow on our phones. Overall we had a lovely stay, however I feel like the accommodation in its current state lets it down compared to the photos and feel like it needs some TLC.

We had a great 2 night stay and would definitely come back.

The house had amazing facilities and was cosy. Heating did turn on throughout the night and we all woke up hot. Bathroom very modern and kitchen appliances were all easy to use.

Nice spacious property in a great location.

Attention to some minor points would make it perfect, some interior paintwork needs touching up, front door lock is frustrating, some rugs look a bit tired, no bulbs in some of the lamps. Hob on cooker works but is very slow to heat up. A general tidy up outside would be good too.

Really enjoyed our stay at Craig Cottage, very clean, spacious rooms, well equipped kitchen, comfortable sitting room and well decorated.

Great to have a parking space, so close to all amenities and be able to walk to the lake. Prosecco was a lovely touch. Would highly recommend.

We have had several holidays at Craig Cottage.

It is really lovely accommodation and the location is excellent. Cleanliness is of a very high standard, the bedding is pristine and towels are luxurious. The cottage is well placed for shops, restaurants, bus stops and it's a short walk to Lake Windermere. The provision of a welcome pack and bottle of prosecco is very thoughtful. We will be back again soon.

Had a lovely stay at the cottage.

The cottage and facilities were lovely, and it is in a great central location for going out and about in Bowness. However, for a longer stay the parking would have been an issue for me. When we arrived on Friday night, the allocated parking space was already full. Luckily someone came back to their car, so we were able to ask them to move, but it meant we didn’t want to move our car again. For a weekend this was fine, but it would not be suitable for a longer stay.

We had a wonderful stay, the log fire is such a lovely feature.

Being so close to all the amenities was perfect, the garden was fully enclosed for our dog which gave us peace of mind. The cottage was very clean & well presented. A couple of things I think that would improve the cottage, not negatives. 1. The steps into the garden are steep & would benefit to having some lights near them, very dangerous otherwise. 2. We have been to many self catering properties & always have the bare essentials (milk, coffee, tea), just for anyone thats arriving, please take salt, pepper, essentials etc. The prosecco was a lovely added touch, we would highly recommend this cottage & we would stay here again. We had a lovely 3 night weekend stay at Craig Cottage just before Christmas.

Cottage was spotless and comfortable. We used the front kingsize bedroom , the bed was sooo comfy. Great location for bars restaurants etc. We love Bowness for the location for going out in the evening and its a great base for venturing out for walking and sightseeing. Great to have a parking space too. Prosecco was a nice touch, a small milk would of been good aswell. A couple of negatives... This is the least equipped holiday rental we have stayed in for the bits and pieces like salt, pepper , tea ,coffee, sugar , tin foil etc. I always pack stuff like this anyway. The front garden steps down to the front door are not safe in the winter time when its dark and damp. We used the back door if we went out in the evening because of this. We would recommend Craig Cottage and would like to return. Many thanks.

We have stayed at the cottage several times before and feel the location is ideal for all the facilities in Bowness.

The cottage is clean tidy and has all the equipment you needed, it’s nicely decorated and cosy.

We had a wonderful stay!

The property is in a great central location, making it easy to get around and explore. It really felt like a home from home - comfortable, clean, and welcoming. As a family of four, we found it well-suited to our needs, though having a washing machine would have made things even more convenient. Overall, a lovely place to stay and we’d happily return.

Stayed here for a week, such a wonderful and confortable stay.

House location is great for a wonder down to the lake/shops but also for driving to neighbouring towns/lakes. The house was very well equipped (even with cutlery/plates for children and a bath mat - the little things that made all the difference!) The beds were very comfy (our boy loved the bunk beds) and the shower is worth a mention, it was lovely! To have the parking space was wonderful, yes the steps are steep but manageable (plants may just need cutting back a bit more regularly as you fight through them on the steps) Would definitely book again.

This was our second time staying at Craig cottage and we absolutely love it.

Lovely, attractively decorated cottage in a very good location within walking distance of Lake Windermere, easy to walk to high street too and situated on a quiet, no through road.

Garden was secure for our dog and there were all the amenities which you would need. The only thing missing is the first nights basket of logs so if you want to use the log burner have to go looking to buy some.

Great property in a great location

Had a great time, the house is lovely, very family friends and so close to everything.

Loved sitting in the front yard with a glass of wine and catching the afternoon sunshine. Also, the beds were super comfortable!

We had a great stay at Craig Cottage as a family of 5 with our dog.

The location was perfect for both Bowness and Windermere, great to have a parking space, house was nicely renovated and had everything you should need. Beds very comfy and a lovely power shower, perfect for after a busy day out. We really enjoyed the house and would definitely recommend.

The location of this property is absolutely perfect.

Its dedicated parking space is nice to have. Nice late afternoon sun in the garden. Clean sheets and comfy beds. The cleanliness was so-so upon arrival, e.g. crumbs and dirtiness in the sofa/seats. The propriety would benefit from an outside paint-job, as it is pretty much crumbling away now. But overall we 100% enjoyed and loved our stay. Would also recommend LakeLovers; very clear service and instructions.

Probably one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in.

Was very homely, cosy and big. The only thing I would say are the stairs to the front are quite steep, we mainly used the back entrance. But overall, I really can’t fault it. Would 100% return.

We had a lovely week at Craig Cottage, the cottage had everything you could need and is in a perfect location,the only downside were the steps at the front which were dangerously slippy when frosty .

Cottage was lovely and well equipped, my only gripe was the WiFi ,there was a plaque on the mantel saying you were automatically connected to WiFi, this wasn't the true, I got a notification saying I had gone over my limit so waiting on my bill.

Apart from that I would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay over Christmas.

The cottage is excellent, finished to a high standard and in a great, central location in Bowness. The owners left us a lovely Christmas card and hamper with a bottle of Prosecco, which was a lovely touch as we were celebrating Christmas up there. The paintwork throughout could do with a bit of a touch up and it would have been nice to have had logs available for the burner on our first day (as this was one of the things that drew us to the cottage). Apart from that though everything was just great… thank you :) In terms of Sykes.. good service throughout. The only drawback being the 4pm check in and 10am check out times. As we were spending Christmas up there and away from home, we had a lot to take with us and to unpack/pack. Maybe 3pm and 11am would be better.

Loved our stay there very warm and comfy beds were really nice to sleep onwould definatley stay there again the only problem i thought with the cottage is they dont supply logs for the fire there is logs there but there is a note on them saying display only if i knew this i would of taken some with me

Nice cottage, great location and off street parking a huge bonus so close to Bowness.

Couple of things which would have improved our stay would have been some wood / kindling being left. It was a shame the cottage didn’t have any Christmas decs up being the Christmas period.

The bathroom area was gleaming, bedding pristine, standard of cleanliness excellent, provision of hand soaps, washing up liquid, dish washer tablets, scrubber and bin bags was so thoughtful. Bottle of prosecco left in fridge was a lovely touch. It is an excellent cottage in a great location.

Excellent holiday and the cottage was perfect for us.

A short walk to the main street. Private parking for one car with on street parking for another. We had no problems during our week getting parked and we were out with the car exploring most days. The house was well equipped and comfortable. Would recommend this place for a break in the Lakes.

We loved our stay at Craig Cottage- great location, easy access to town, the cottage is clean and cosy.

The only negative is there is a faint smell of dog in the lounge, the carpet and upholstery could probably do with shampooing to try and get rid of the smell otherwise we had a fantastic stay and would not hesitate to book again!

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location.

Everything you need there. We only used the front double bedroom and the bed was super comfortable. Plenty of storage also. Bottle of Prosecco and the cleaning pack very much appreciated. Plug in torch/lights are good once you know how to work them. Only negative the sofa could do with replacing.and a few chips and scrapes on the walls/wood work could do with touching up. We would stay here again. .

Lovely stay at Craig cottage.

Ideal to walk into Bowness and great access to the buses. A couple of personal negatives for us more feedback - The living room furniture is not comfortable to sit six people and also smelt of damp dog. Also the back yard needs cleaning up lots of moss and looks untidy. The solar lights didn't work on the steps which could be dangerous at night.

Bin not emptied even though we put out No mention in book re stripping beds on departure

The property was lovely - such a great location, there was just a few things that we felt inconvenienced us slightly.

There was no shower mat - there was only half a loo roll upon arrival so we had to go out super early to the shop to get them. I think there should be a couple of staples in the cottage like cooking oil and sugar (we know to bring our own tea and coffee). I think the arrival time of 4pm is quite late and the check out at 10am is quite early. Everything else was great.

I would advise better description to find the key, beside the door did not work for us.

Adjacent garden wall would have been better. Ended up having to call office for the other door code, luckily wasnt raining, but otherwise lovely stay thank you

Loved the cottage, felt at home as soon as we arrived.

Good location, quiet but only minutes from town centre & lake. Parking place very useful. Would definitely stay here again.

Had a lovely 3 night break at Craig Cottage.

House was extremely clean, welcoming and the beds were so comfortable. We managed to park our BMW M4 in the parking space and the fact it had its own off road parking is a big bonus in Bowness. Great location for walking down into Bowness to enjoy the lakeside facilities and a great choice of places to eat and drink. Would definitely recommend Boaters for a good choice of craft beer and fresh pizzas. Only slight thing that let the cottage down was the speed of the wi-fi. Would definitely book again .

Beautiful cottage, the only tiny thing I can suggest is maybe a couple more baking trays and another rack shelf for inside the oven?

This isn’t a negative though, we loved everything about Craig Cottage and didn’t want to leave! Beautiful, comfortable, clean, quiet and an amazing location!

The property was clean and comfortable, and well-located for the Lakes.

The town centre is in walking distance, too. The 2 main bedrooms were a good size, as was the living room. The bathroom was small but perfectly adequate, with a good shower, and the kitchen was well appointed. Our gripes were with parking, access, and the WiFi. The last of those was simple: it just didn’t work, at all, no matter how many times we reset the router. This was a bit of an annoyance. As far as parking goes, there is a parking space, but it is small, tricky to get into, and on the side of a very narrow one way street. Again, just a bit of a pain. Finally, the property’s main entrance is down a steep flight of steps, which are a bit treacherous in the dark. There is lighting, but it only stays on for about 10 seconds. It was good on balance, but there were some negatives.

Had a good stay in Bowness, the property was located well, the parking was good.

The steps down to the property were dangerous and need reconfiguring. The property itself was good , decorating could be better a lot of chips and scratches on the paintwork. The rear of the property was very poor and needs a big clean up, the scaffolding and work being carried out did not help. Overall we enjoyed our stay but we would suggest improvements be carried out.

We have had several holidays in Craig Cottage.

It is a beautiful cottage in a great location. The level of cleanliness is excellent, bedding is pristine and towels are superb quality. Bottle of prosecco left in fridge was a lovely touch and the essentials pack with cloth, pan scrubber, refuse sacks and dishwasher tabs is such a helpful addition. We are returning again later in the year.

The cottage is finished to a very high standard and well equipped,bonus of having off street parking and a garden so the dog could stretch her legs. Overall could not fault the cottage we would definitely recommend and we will definitely be booking again.x

The property is excellent, very comfortable and decorated to a high standard.

Great location, close to shops and restaurants. We have really enjoyed several holidays in Craig Cottage and hope to enjoy more in coming years. Only drawback is the access to the front of the property. Stairs are non uniform, very difficult to negotiate in the dark and should be better lit. There is a pir floodlight but it only comes on when you arrive at the front door and only for a few seconds (no reason why it couldn't be adjusted) to cover the stairway.

The loaction is great, however the cleanliness is not the greatest - could do with a new cleaner I think.

There were long hairs that had not been hoovered up and stuck to my foot Yuck! The bathroom bath plug must be clogged up as it is open but the water does not go down and you end up with water half way up your legs for even a quick shower! Then all of the dirt that was already in the plug comes back up and sticks to the bath - not nice. Some toilet paper left and a welcome pack would have been nice! and a washing machine even better. The best way to leave and access the premises for ease is via the back way, but that definitely needs some TLC - very dirty and paint coming off everywhere, the next door neighbours have a nice back area so that would be great and the furniture at the front is nothing like the picture - that needs some TLC as well - probably only small things I know but they all add up and these things make a difference, but having said that on the whole everything else was great and appreciated the parking space. I am just being honest not moaning just stating a few facts so sorry if it sounds negative. Weather was absolutely fabulous - not sure if you arranged that but it was great

The property is in a fantastic location with everything you need in walking distance but unfortunately we were very disappointed with the general cleanliness of the property, particularly the kitchen, bathroom & some of the carpeted areas.

I cleaned a lot of areas when we arrived, which isn’t really ideal on the start of your holiday!! Therefore we would not choose to stay here again.

The lay out worked great for our family and was central to all of our day trips. House was clean and well maintained. Would highly recommend.

We booked Craig Cottage quite last minute and we were impressed with the price compared to other properties in the area.

When we got there we really appreciated the parking space as there wasn’t much available off road parking due to how busy it was (the weather was lovely which most likely increased footfall!). The property was traditional on the outside with a lovely maintained garden and modern and comfortable on the inside with comfy living room and cosy bedrooms. The shower had great water pressure and was very clean. We would have preferred some hand soap for both the bathroom and kitchen and maybe some washing up liquid but that’s nothing we couldn’t buy ourselves. I also appreciated the complimentary Prosecco! The cottage is in the perfect spot with just a 5 minute walk into the action with plenty to do near by. Our dog loved the garden although the gate was slightly broken and wonky meaning it’s not 100% secure. All in all the cottage was brilliant and we have already recommended to family and friends! Thanks for a great stay, we’ll definitely be back!

We had a very comfortable stay at this lovely cottage.

It was very well planned out, comfortable beds and sofas, all modern heating, television etc. All the facilities you need except for a washing machine which personally I would find more useful than the dishwasher supplied. We found it easier using the back entrance during our stay as it's on a lower level unless we were using the car. The parking space is extremely useful as there's not much parking space available in the road. The garden is very well maintained and makes a very pleasant view.

Excellent location just 5-10 mins from lake maximum.

Property newly renovated so whilst outside looks more traditional there is a lovely contemporary finish internally. Had everything we needed for our stay. The designated parking space is a little difficult to manoeuvre in and out of due to parking on road and the stairs are quite steep leading into the property however you can use access at the back if required. We would absolutely stay here again !

Very cosy, well furnished cottage in walking distance from Bowness with private parking.

The beds were super comfy. We were there on a wet weekend and the steps from the road to the front door were narrow, steep pretty treacherous and, we think, not suitable for someone with mobility restrictions whatever the weather. There was access through the back door at ground level through an alleyway. The kitchen was well equipped although it would have been better if the basics such as salt and pepper and washing up liquid had been provided. The shower was powerful and there was plenty of hot water although some soap would have been handy. All in all a very nice cottage, near all amenities but a little more attention to detail would have made it even better.

We really enjoyed our second stay this year at Craig Cottage.

It is well furnished, very comfortable and location is excellent. The path down into the garden from the car parking area is difficult to negotiate in the dark. Additional lighting around the steps would be beneficial. LIkewise, it would be helpful if bins had house numbers affixed (unsure which bins were for use of cottage). Also unsure of collection day and what our responsibility was. No bins available at cottage when we left at end of holiday.

This was the best cottage we have stayed in .

It has set a very high standard for others to follow . I do have a couple of suggestions 1 as we used the back door most of the time it would be nice if they paved it so it was nicer to exit. 2 keep the trees and bushes on the path and parking area trimmed back. 3 please make sure that when you supply a parking disc that it is up date date it was a month out off date.

Lovely cottage loved that we could use front or back door for walks.

Garden was great to sit with an early morning coffee and still lovely in the evening gor dinner. The only downside was no washing machine or even a retractable line for putting out wet cloths. As we had kids with us there was washing needing which I done hand wash for but no where to hang other than the fence also as weather was so good we went swimming again no where to dry towls etc. The house beside has a line tied to house and they can pull out as needed this would have been handy. Maybe this should be highlighted on the property listing as i did miss this feature.The parking permit is out of date so I left it in kitchen not that we needed it. Over all it was great we had a great time and even though there was no washing machine I would stay agin. Thank you

Our stay at Craig Cottage was wonderful.

A really well kept property with all the amenities you could need. The garden is fully secure for dogs and the location couldn't be better to be able to wander down to Bowness. We loved our visit and will definitely be booking again.

It is furnished to a very high standard and a high level of cleanliness, it was spotless throughout. Beds were extremely comfortable and bed linen and towels were pristine. Hand soap, kitchen sundries, dish washing tablets etc were all provided. The cottage is in a lovely quiet location and yet is so handy for the main street, shops, restaurants etc. We can't recommend it highly enough and we will certainly be returning for another holiday later in the year. Thanks to Lakelovers for an excellent service and for keeping us updated throughout the whole process.

We rang Sykes on Saturday to request - log burning pack which was described in welcome folder, hand wash, toilet roll and washing up liquid - none of these were given to us and despite requesting none of these were received.

There was 1 toilet roll between 5 people, half bottle of hand wash in kitchen none in the bathroom. There was no cleaning products available either to clean work tops etc

Lovely cosy cottage, well located for both Bowness and Windermere.

We ditched the car and had a relaxing week at Christmas with lots of cosy nights in front of the log fire. Well decorated and very quiet it was some of the best nights sleep we have had. Could do with improving the kitchen equipment but we did still managed to cook a Christmas lunch for 4.

Perfect on all counts

The location of the property was good as in easy walking distance of Bowness.

However the cleanliness of the property, although mostly ok, was obviously not thorough as there was a used towel and someone’s bath robe left behind a bedroom door, also the kitchen equipment was somewhat lacking, no fish slice and no lids for pans and as others have also said the promised fire starter pack was not there

Brilliant property, location and decorative design.

HOWEVER, the cleanliness wasn’t how I expected with our dog finding biscuits under furniture upstairs, cobwebs from ceiling in bedrooms and baking trays in oven used with crumbs on. Also we had no starter fire pack as stated, which was disappointing upon arriving in the rain and in the night.

My children and I had a wonderful, relaxed time here.

No washing up liquid provided , bin bags for the upstairs and bathroom bin. Windows constantly soaking wet (think this is because they are single glazed).

Wonderful stay in a beautiful comfy cottage in a most convenient location right on the doorstep of Bowness centre.

We barely used our car all week, instead we could catch the bus or a boat to most places we wanted to visit. The cottage is perfect for a young family, our children loved the bunk beds.
