Thank you for your extensive review. As we have arranged a new lounge suite I needed to visit towards the end of your stay to check if it would fit through the front door. It is not surprising that we need a new suite which cost over £3000 only 6 years ago if the behaviour of your 2 young sons is anything to go by. The new one we have ordered is over £4000. I was with you for only 10 minutes or so and one son was jumping up and down on the 3-seater with the recliner in contact with the coffee table. The other son was stood by the 4x light switches continuously switching them on and off. The pair of them were very badly behaved and you did not care. The house was a mess in the lounge and dining area and kitchen. I did not go upstairs. My house-keeper said that you left a mess when you left including dirty pots in the sink. PLEASE DO NOT COME AGAIN. I am very pleased with all the lovely reviews we receive and the lovely comments in the visitor's book so it was a surprise that you were not happy, although you say you would re-book if we replaced the TVS. Please do not re-book.

One is a steep downhill 4 minute walk and the other, which is shown on our noticeboard, is an easy walk which takes just a couple more minutes. I hope you found it. I'd be interested to know if the pillows were too hard or too soft for you - I stayed a couple of nights a few weeks ago and found them fine for me. Sorry you didn't find them ideal. Many thanks for your 100% feedback it is much appreciated. Yes, there is a steep hill down to the village which is an advantage for making it very unlikely that we have any random foot or vehicle traffic past Fairhaven. We hope, however, that you found the easy gentle slope to the village and lake which takes only a couple more minutes and is shown on our noticeboard. We are still on the look-out for a new lounge suite to replace the existing one which is only about 8 years old but the seams are beginning to split, presumably due to some hard use. We are very pleased you enjoyed your second visit and hope you can return. Thank You.

Thank you for your kind comments following your 2-night stay in Fairhaven. I have spoken to our Housekeeper and she confirms that plenty of toilet paper and soap was present. Also, as usual a bath towel and hand towel for each of 6 guests for 7 nights. There is also salt and pepper which we are not asked to provide. We do not provide shower gel or shampoo as this has never been required by Lakelovers. We leave instructions on what to do with the wheelie bins, fire advice and only a couple of other helpful notes. A note asking you to "clean up"? - I don't think so. Perhaps you were writing about the wrong property? Maybe you would have liked a full time porter and cook to help you with your stay? It is unfortunate that other prospective guests will read your comments as more than 50% of guests give us 100% reviews with only one or two a year less than 80%. I hope we did not fall below our normal standards as appreciated by virtually all our guests but apologise if we did.

I am sorry you only gave us 88% feedback score for accuracy of listing and facilities which doesn't seem to tie in with your comments, so we don't know what you think could have been better. However you say you would definitely consider staying again, so thank you for that.

Our House-keeper did her usual great job after the previous guests and it was down to me to put away the Christmas decorations. I am sorry about the bits, which I thought I had sorted but obviously missed some. I normally do that with my Wife who died just 3 weeks earlier and my heart was in a different place. I'm also learning cooking, washing, ironing and shopping etc as well as doing a job. I think I am getting better. Many thanks for staying at Fairhaven and I hope you can come again.

I have mentioned before that the sofa to which you refer is only a few years old but has suffered possibly due to some "event" and we have placed a throw over it to protect it from further deterioration. We don't think it should affect the comfort although you are the second guests to mention this since it happened about 2 years ago. I have plans to replace it when possible even though it will be an expensive exercise. An illness and now bereavement has delayed the search and complicated matters and although it really is a minor issue it is being addressed. I am very pleased that you have still enjoyed your stay. Many thanks for your lovely feedback. It is not easy to keep Fairhaven 100% all the time as things can go wrong sometimes, but we do our best and try to get on top of any problems as soon as we can. I think in the main our guests are happy according to the feedback but occasionally someone is not happy about something which fortunately is usually quite minor. We love to stay at Fairhaven when we can and come up many times at changeover to check things with our superb Housekeeper. We are really pleased that you have booked again and hope you continue to enjoy your stays. Thank You so much.

Thank you for your information on the "smelly devices" in Fairhaven. We are not sure whether a previous guest has left them but have asked our housekeeper to investigate straight away. They will be removed if still there. As no-one else has mentioned this we think it has happened recently. I know some people like such things and others may not; I personally am not a fan. I would think if they were uncomfortable you would be able to move them and open a window but sorry if they affected your stay.

Thank you for your review. We will investigate the upstairs taps to ensure they are ok. The sofas were very expensive and are only a few years old, but you are correct about the repair. Unfortunately a small tear appeared on the seam of the large 3-seater and we have had two expert leather re-furbishers to check if it can be repaired but it seems not because of the awkward position of it. So we have used a throw to hopefully prevent it from going much worse while we source a replacement. It is something which should not spoil a guest's holiday but we want this correcting.

Thank You for the 10th consecutive full marks review. We are very pleased that you had everything you needed. Yes, the hill down to the village is rather good exercise (coming up!) but we do find it feels easier after a couple of days, especially after an evening at the excellent "Jackson's Bistro" at the bottom! Hopefully though you found the much easier route only a couple of minutes longer walk as shown on the notice board. The elevated position of Fairhaven makes for a nice quiet "Haven" only 5 minutes walk from the village and Lake. We hope that you can come again. Thank You!

Thanks very much for your great review! Before your visit we had the whole outside repainted and new ends on roof apexes fitted. I'm pleased you liked the beds as all mattresses were recently renewed, as were the Kingsize divans. We put most of our rental income back into Fairhaven so our Guests and Ourselves can benefit. Thank you for staying at Fairhaven and for your kind comments. Yes, the main route to the Lake is quite a a steep 3/4 minutes but the less steep road takes only an extra couple of minutes and brings you out in the middle of the shopping area and still only 6/7 minutes from the Lake. An advantage of where we are is there is no through traffic and so very quiet. Also, parking is great, on our front path 2/3 cars and also on our road, Fairfield. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay.

Thanks , yes, and also only about ½Hr walk up Brantfell Road and across fields and paths to Brantfell which has beautiful views of most of Lake Windermere. Great easy walk to build up an appetite for dinner! Thanks for your comments.

Thank you for staying at Fairhaven for 3 nights. I am sorry that you found the bath towels small but we have provided the same size for around 20 years and this is the first such comment. The Mattresses on the single beds were new 2 years ago and those on the king size beds and also the divans, were new in September 2023. They were all very expensive and are down to personal choice. We believe that medium to firm suits most people and we slept on them only 2 weeks before your visit and find them very comfortable. The cigarette smell of course should not have been present as we are a "no smoking" property and our house-keeper does not smoke, so that is a mystery. We do not smoke either and there was no sign of this when we stayed for maintenance. We take a lot of pride in keeping Fairhaven tip-top which is why the last 12 months have given us 46 bookings of which 15 were "come-backers" I am pleased that your stay was enjoyable.

Thank you for staying at our Fairhaven for New Year 12 Months ago and again last month. We look forward to welcoming you again in a years time! We were at Fairhaven 3 days ago to check things over and take down the Christmas decorations and of course removed the out of date detector! Purchased January 2017 the box noted a guaranteed life of 7 years and as I guess expected these days, not a day longer! New one purchased which will shortly be sited. Thank you for your kind feedback. We are very pleased that you have enjoyed your 3rd week of the year at Fairhaven and have already booked for next year. We went up ourselves last month on a maintenance visit. Having recently renewed all mattresses we have now renewed the 2 Kingsize bases and also attended to several other items including additional smoke alarms to try and keep Fairhaven in good shape. Thank you again, we appreciate your comments.

We are sorry you had some issues with the cleaning. Looking back at the last 20 guests comments we received 100% for cleanliness on 14 of them, 75% on 4 and 50% on 2, including yours. Our regular visits find Fairhaven exceptionally clean. Obviously something amiss on your visit and we apologise for that although the problems were not serious enough to spoil your holiday, thank goodness. There are 2 different routes to Fairhaven, both apply to walking or by car. Brantfell Road is a fairly steep hill but Langrigge Drive is much easier and still only about 5/6 minutes walk to the centre of Bowness as shown on the notice board and I believe also on the directions given by Lakelovers. We are very pleased that over the last 12 months we have had 45 bookings, mostly full weeks and 15 which were repeat bookings.

I am sorry that the refuse collectors did not perform their duties - I am assuming a week was missed, as there should be plenty of room in the wheelie for a week's refuse. Overflowing bins are so unsightly and unhygienic. I would like to know whether it was a missed week or some other issue so I can look into this. Thank You for your feedback and for the high score you have given for everything else. I know you have another week booked in October and trust you will not be inconvenienced in the same way.

We do our best to look after Fairhaven and keep it in good shape for our guests and for our own few visits. We had 19 bookings from guests who had previously stayed including one of over 20 visits which is very pleasing and makes our efforts worthwhile.

I am sorry that one of the single beds was uncomfortable for you even though they were very expensive and are only 3 years 3 months old. I am not sure which book you are referring to in connection with the refuse, but we have 2 wheelie bins. One is clearly marked "Garden Refuse only" and the other "everything except Garden Refuse". I know there are many different rules around our country with various types of bins and boxes which is why we have made it clear as to what the arrangements are at Fairhaven.

We were able to buy it back 4 years later and we love its ideal position a few minutes walk to the village and the lake, but in a quiet elevated hideaway with plenty of parking space. Thank you for your comments. The kitchen cupboard handles have a rubber finish underneath which may be the reason for them feeling sticky. We are sorry the vacuum cleaner was not emptied and one of the cupboards had some veg' debris left - our regular cleaner was on holiday which may account for that. We don't know why using the washer should cause a smell in the bathroom but glad that using the shower may have solved that. Anyway you seemed pleased with everything else, thank you, including the comfort of the beds, and so much so that you have already re-booked for next New Year. We are so glad that you had a lovely holiday and look forward to you returning. There is secure storage for 2 bikes behind the garage which you may not have seen - It may be possible to lock another bike or two there also. Thank you for staying at Fairhaven.

Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback after your recent stay at Fairhaven. We are disappointed to hear about the issues you found at the property. We are sorry the mattress wasn't to your liking, comfort level is personal choice and depends on each individual preference. We haven’t received any comments from previous guests and the next guests who stayed regarding this or the creaky floorboards or doors. This property usually receives consistent high scores, along with excellent feedback from guests and has many repeat bookers, however we take all feedback seriously and have passed your comments onto the owner who has taken on board your concerns. Thank you once again for your feedback, The Lakelovers team .... As the owner I have to say this feedback is very strange, especially as the guests immediately before and after have both given 100% in all categories. The later guests gave Fairhaven a score of 100% but did not leave a comment and so their score is not shown. I slept on the Master Bedroom mattress early in December and still find it very comfortable. We try hard to keep Fairhaven in tip top condition and want all our guests to be very happy. I have emailed the guest and asked for clarification of his comments but he has chosen not to respond. We renewed the mattresses in the twin room earlier this year and have ordered new ones for the 2 Kingsize beds which should be in place in the next few weeks even though we consider they are not yet due for replacement. We were also given a good review by the Tourist Inspector at their recent visit where they stated the beds were of good quality. The 4**** Certificate can be seen on our notice board.

Thank you so much. We are very pleased you found Fairhaven to be the best place you have stayed. Our Guests who have stayed the longest have just booked their 19th week! We were there a few weeks ago and realise the Kingsize mattresses do have a slight dip and have considered renewing them. The problem we face is many guests are still saying how comfortable they are and I actually sleep better there than anywhere! I know some prefer firm and others soft - these are medium to soft and high quality. However we will probably replace them soon and hope our guests like them at least as much!

Thank you for your kind comments. Yes there is a steep hill but perhaps you did not find the other route which is not steep and which takes you to the centre of the shopping area. Our notice board has the details. The distance is about the same to the shops and maybe 10 mins walk to the lake.
